Yes the owners of Sultan Center struck a deal to bring these two supermarkets after spending about KD27 million, Here is an excerpt from the article:

A major Kuwaiti food company acquired Lebanon’s Monoprix and Giant stores for $97 million. Michael Abchee, the general manager of Admic which owns Monoprix and Giant malls, told The that Kuwait’s Sultan Center for Food Product, better know as TSC, has made this transaction after several months of negotiations.”

  1. Linus says:

Although I love Sultan Centers products and all, but this is sick!
Are they planning to like have a monopoly on the food markets in Kuwait!?

  2. Mishary says:

Linus Dont u think that Géant & MONOPRIX got their own branded food so that will add a plus to our market ?

  3. BB says:

Well, I dont like Monoprix and Giant stores at all!

  4. Q80saracen says:

Question: Why did they say Lebanese Chain…its clearly French. Mowjood ib Paris as far back as I can remember.

Hmmm…I would get more excited if there was a third party involved. Sultan Center has amazing products but the markup is criminal. Carrefour helped with that but doesn’t carry the selection of US good that Sultan does.

More Competition = Better Pricing + Better Products/Services

This does not qualify as more competition.

  5. AM says:

Come again, just how soon is soon ?

No offence but are we talking “Emaraati soon” here or the Kuwaiti version of it?

  6. Enigma says:

I bet someone else was trying to buy it, so they went ahead and bought it to prevent any competition. And I saw Monoprix in paris, how is it lebanese?

  7. Mishary says:

AM i think it will be Emaraati soon coz dont think the government will do anything with it. and the delay comes from the government its qe6a3 khas 🙂

Enigma Your right its originally in France you can check it on google.

  9. Phil says:

I think you misread the news. TSC actually bought retails stores owned by Admic (company that owns the franchise for Monoprix and Geant). No relation to stores opening in Kuwait and such.

  10. ADMAD WALI says:

TSC products stink. THey are rotten and out of date products and EXPIRED!!
They repackage out of date stuff espc meats and poultry.
I have seen their staff being ordered to do so.
Any parts of the meat that are rotting are cut out and repackaged under a new plastic cover with another expiry date
Their management has no interest in knowing what is going on – they encourage it!!
