I have packet8, which is lke skype fone. and yes it doesnt work.. they r trying to ban all kind of VOiP..

  2. Kha says:

This is called being backward thinking retards. If people could get something for cheaper price and great quality, why ban it?

This is the same backward thinking that drove MTC’s management to Bahrain and made Kuwait the only country that is covered by MTC that still charges premium prices for phonecalls to the countries covered by MTC.

  3. GlenBoy says:

This is really bad news…. I wonder when will q8 ever try moving forward rather than drive reverse and see how much more can they make people regret for being here 🙂 So far my skype works fine….

  4. DVLz says:

I just made some calls with Skype, its working fine without any problems. 🙂

  5. Skype Fan says:

They can’t block skype calls easily because it is working as P2P and does not have fixed address.

  6. K.theKuwaiti says:

I wouldn’t worry about it .. blocking skype isn’t as easy as it seems.

  7. Ahmad says:

This is not something new. It’s considered “stealing international calls” when you use skype.

Remember all the news items in the newspaper about the police arresting people who steal international calls (at first I thought it had something to do with jacking into people’s lines and using their numbers), they’re simply using VoIP.

  8. Bojacob says:

They’re fighting tooth and nail to ban Skype, but thankfully Kuwait’s current internet infrastructure makes it pretty difficult to accomplish.

Besides, you’re surrounded by incompetence over in that ministry.

  9. Technogal says:

It works fine with me.. and why the hell they want to bock skype! seeej ma 3endehom salfa!!

  10. BB says:

I want 2 ask u something why skype is soo famous (and most q80 use them) although there are many other companies offer same quality with less prices?!

  11. BB says:

And … far as I know, Skype is also banned in UAE

  12. 9k2hn says:

BB can you give us an idea about the other companies? just in case if skype is blocked

  13. BB says:

    I use yahoo voice
My professor suggested vonage and ooma hub ==> try amazon, where you only pay one time and then the calls always free.

  14. intlxpatr says:

I use something else – and the MOC keeps banning and all the companies keep finding workarounds . . . 😉

VOIP is illegal, but they seem to focus on the poorest Indians who help other Indians who don’t have computers to call home (that’s what they call stealing phone services) and leave the rest of us alone. Every now and then mine goes funny, and then is OK again. They declared it illegal over a year ago.

  15. kwt23 says:

Why the hell would they want to ban SKYPE?! That’s stupid – not surprised though.

  16. BB says:

    intlxpatr what are u using?

  17. K! says:

I use Skype, and so far its working fine …

    I’m keeping my fingers crossed

  18. skype voip says:

    skype voip…

A Trackback is one of three types of Linkbacks, methods for Web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents….

  19. I think they block skype from being downloaded and not from ppl who already have it. If you travel, download it. Though I cannot for the life of me figure out why skype would be considered illegal?!
