lightt-painting-1

We were sitting in the shalaih bored and HKR was telling me about this technique where you can turn off the lights and start taking pictures of yourself drawing pictures in the dark using a flashlight.. (come again?) take a look.

The process is called Light painting. Basically, it is when you use light in a dark place and draw paintings on air. This is possible because some cameras have an option where you can slow it’s capturing speed which in turn allows the camera to record every motion you make into one single photo.

^ This is supposed to be a house on fire.

^Kuwait towers…. (hey it’s hard to draw using a flashlight in the dark!)

The technique is simple. Put the camera on a tripod, adjust the focus points manually and set the shutter speed to 10-20 seconds then set the camera on timer and turn off the lights. You can use a flashlight to draw or even the light from a mobile’s screen. The results aren’t always great, obviously 😛 but you’re going to have fun doing it.

try putting coloured papers in front of the light,to get a coloured pic.
if u wanna draw…it’s better if u draw what u want on a “waseela” 1st, then u behind the camera, facing the waseela, trace ur drawing with the light.

i liked the towers …how did u get the scribbling right in the circle?!

WOW that looks so great! I wish there was a website on the computer which you can get to have that same effect. I know you’re saying the technique is simple but it really doesn’t sound simple to novices. For one thing I don’t have a tripod and I don’t know what shutter speed is!
