Engagdet posted yesterday that they got a hold of some leaked pictures that suggest the release of a newer and slimmer PS3. The news isn’t confirmed yet. They did the same with the PS2 and people, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one turns out to be true and people fall head over heels over it too.

    Yahoo News

A Chinese firm is sending out ‘cease and desist’ letters to prominent game sites including Engadget and Kotaku, over the snaps the sites ran of the speculated slimline PS3.

Shots reportedly taken in a Chinese factory purport to reveal the existence of a streamlined PS3 console, with some pointing to a potential E3 reveal if this rumour doesn’t turn out to be a hoax.

The Chinese company wants the images of the console removed, unsurprisingly, although Sony have steered well clear of this story. Letters sent to the sites in question demand the removal of “some confidential document and photos, which were highly possibly illegally released and posted.”

Does this mean the new slimline PS3 is a reality? There certainly seems to be some background to this rumour…

all this means is heat woes and a big power brick. just like they did with the ps2.

I think a slimmed down PS3 would be a good purchase, but its also dependent on the price. I’m not up for those ridiculous prices they charge in Rehab!
