I’ve heard of this restaurant back in july when I was at Prime & Toast, it’s name was written on one of the restaurant’s walls, and when I asked the waitress she said it’s a new restaurant by the same owner/chef, and that it’ll open soon. Fast forward, today, We were a party of 5, and we reserved the Chef’s table (The Chef’s table is available twice a week, on monday and some other day. He basically cooks for your table).

This is my first visit, and I liked the place. It’s cozy, and has nice warm lighting, and not many tables.

I didn’t hear much about this place. I think there were only 2 people I know who went there and they both had positive experiences. We were led to our table, it was different from the rest, it was high and with bar chairs. Next to us was the counter were the chef cooked. After climbing the chairs and settling in, we were given the menus and were told that the chef had chose a dish for us.

^Gnocchi pasta, which creamy tomato sauce and eggplants.

So good.

Can u guess what’s in this spring rolls?

They’re cheeseburger spring rolls. I wouldn’t have ordered those simply because Ican’t picture a cheeseburger in a spring roll (Ahal failicha makhalaw shay). Turned out real good.

Cornflakes breaded chicken. Good. But nothing special. Kids would love it though.

Stroganoff in puff pastry. Chosen by the Chef. I liked it.

Pesto Pizza. There are 2 kinds of little pizzas for starters, Margarita and Pesto. This little biscuity pizza was so great I think it would be a hit if it were to be fully fledged in size.

Ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese, comes with mushroom and basil sauce. My friend liked it a lot.

Fillet Mignon. My dish. With morels mushrooms. When I saw the word Morels I knew I had to order this dish.

The Fillet was cooked to a perfect medium, and was so tender that when my friend tasted it he said “this steak is so tender it feels like a piece of mushroom”. It was very good. I had to order a side of fries because it comes with nothing but the onion rings on top.

Lasagna. My friend liked it a lot. The portion was huge, and it was very creamy.. If you were really hungry then this won’t disappoint.

3 pieces of veal escalopes with fries and a sauce from heaven. I don’t remember what was the sauce named, but it had tiny whole tomatoes in it, and it was sweet. The sauce totally transforms this typical dish to something I totally loved.

^I don’t remember it’s name but it consist basically of 3 pots, pot filled with pieces of real tender beef cubes, a pot with again a sweet honey flavored sauce, and a crispy chips pot. My cousin seemed to like it.

We liked how the place looked.

Ok, now to the cons:

1-The service although friendly, was unorganized. We received the main dishes while still eating the appetizers.
2-We received the main dishes over a period of 15 minutes. Me and my friend were finishing up while another friend was waiting for his main dish to arrive.

This issue need to be addressed and solved. No one likes to eat while having a hungry friend watching him.

Other than those 2 issues we loved the place. The atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic. This restaurant is a must.

Bistro 86 is in the avenues, near Napkit, right next to Layl Nhar and Karam cafe. Opens from 1 to 5pm and again from 8 to 11pm.

i thought by reserving the Chef’s table the chef would join you and prepare the food infront of you????

and so thaaaaats what a medium steak looks like :`(

  5. Yousef says:

Danderma yeah I think the gnocchi was off the menu and it was surprisingly good given that I don’t usually like gnocchi..

The Chef did kind of join the table, he cooked the Gnocchi dish right there infront of us, and overlooked the whole thing 🙂

  17. Yousef says:

1001Nights Wallah I liked them both, but even though Sassi’s steak is good and all, I prefer 86’s. It was unbelievable.

I went there with my kids ,we loved the kellogs chicken, breaded shrimp, rocca salad.but the classic cheeseburger….no.I asked for a well done cheeseburger and i told the waiter : no pink color plz. When he served my burger ,the meat was pinkish from inside and when i pressed the bun blood was coming from the meat ,and when i told the waiter about it he took my burger then came back and said this is not blood,it is just the ketchup!!!!!! I know it was blood….next time I’ll stick with the appetizers.
