For those who asked me in my  previous post how to install BlackBerry’s World App to get the What’sApp here are the steps:

P.S. I know I’m a big fan of OSX but this is only for windows (Vista or XP)users.

1. Download the App World .ZIP file.

2. Unzip it to your desktop

3. Copy the files net_rim_bb_appworld.cod, net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_en.cod and JavaLoader.exe to the following folder depending on your Windows OS:

3.1 In Windows Vista “C:\Users\(Your User)

3.2 In Windows XP “C:\DocumentsandSettings\(Your User)

4. Start CMD (Windows Key + R and then type CMD)

5. Plug-in your BlackBerry

6. Type: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_en.cod once done type next one:

7- Type: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld.cod Your device will now reboot and you will have App World on your device.

This has been tested on the Curve 8900 and the Bold, so make sure to comment whether it works for you.

BlackBerry Storm users:

1. Download the App World . Zip file.

2. Unzip it to your desktop

3. Run the Blackberry Desktop Manager

4. Select Application Loader

5. Select Add / Remove Applications

6. Select Browse and look at your desktop for the file “appworld.alx” and select it.

7. Click Next and then Finish.

Was able to install BlackBerry App World on my Cuve 8900 with this instruction! Great work, BlackBerry App World is not official supported in my count. But how to install Whatsapp? Can’t find it through the BlackBerry App World search. App world says “paid applications are not availabe in your country.”

  4. sinful eyes says:

  7. Rick says:

    Hi all,

The second file download worked, thanks ever so much.
App world installed fine on my Curve, HOWEVER….
When I start the app it says :
Upgrade your service to a plan that includes browsing and discover a world of possibilities…. bla di bla. Please contact your service provider.

I do of course have a contract with a data plan. Can anyone help ? I am in Switzerland on the Orange provider, who of course are no use in this matter. Does it have something to do with my default browser ?

    Thanks

  8. comlab says:

    @Rick

I’m in Switzerland too, but have Swisscom with the Blackberry Enterprise Option. So my Dataplan is not the problem, but I found no way to buy or download the Whatsapp in the BlackBerry App World. I have also a paypal account but I never reached the point where I can pay for the app. It looks like that the BlackBerry App World has more than one barrier to bypass.

Question to people where live in countries which are not official supported by BlackBerry App World: What’s happen if you press on the “Top Paid” button in the App World??? I get there a message box: “paid applications are not availabe in your country.”

    Greetings comlab

I have a BB 8520 and worked!!! Uhulll

  23. daniel says:

This kind of installation used to work with my BB9700 until today. Starting today, whenever I get into AppWorld I receive an error message stating “BB AppWorld is having trouble connecting to the BB App World Server. Verify your network connection and try again”.

Obviously the net connection is working just fine. I got reports that more such installs got this error message lately so there might be some changes on RIM side.

    Any known workarounds for this?

  24. Jaymi Chung says:

    Hi,

I have a blackberry bold curve 8900 and currently I live in Shanghai. As there is no BIS service for customer available I cannot get access to Blackberry world. I download the above zipfile and everything went ok until the cmd process (step 6) when I command: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_en.cod it is said:
connected, loading net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_enDone, bytes sent and then: Disconnected!

Is getting disconnected ok? or should it receive the message: connected?

I then tried step 7: Type: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld.cod

    I receive the following message:
first it is loading but then Error: file is incompatible with data stored on the device (I also receive a Java error on the phone), disconnected.

Is there anyone who can help me? I would greatly appreciate if there is a solution for this!!

    Jaymi

    @Jaymi Chung
uninstall the appworld app from your phone and then follow the instructions. also its supposed to say disconnected after it finishes uploading the file.
