I used to have Canon D450 which was my birthday gift from my wife, Couple of days ago my birthday was and my wife brought to me the Sony NEX-5 as in update for my previous camera, I’ve spent almost a week with it and will talk about it in brief by the way the result was impresive.

Iā€™m going to break my review into:

  • Features
  • Whats in the box
  • Dimensions
  • Good
  • Bad
  • Conclusion
  • Image Samples

Features:

  • 14.2-megapixel,
  • up to 7 fps shooting,
  • ISO 12800 sensitivity,
  • AVCHD 1080/60i HD movies,
  • APS-C size HD image sensor,
  • Sweep Panorama,
  • Auto HDR
  • Tiltable LCD

Inside the Box:

  • Sony NEX-5 body
  • 18-55mm w/lens hood or 16mm lens.
  • Flash
  • Body cap
  • Lens caps
  • Lithium-ion battery
  • Battery charger
  • USB cable
  • Shoulder strap
  • CD-ROM
  • Quick Start manual
  • Warranty card

Good:

  • Very light and compact design and still comfortable to hold.
  • High quality built material.
  • Capable of recording HD video in any of the lenses.
  • Since I bought the Canon’s adapter lenses, I can use all my previous canon lenses with it.

Bad:

  • It drains the battery very quickly so you need at least a backup battery with you.

Image Samples:

I’ve already posted some pictures in my previous posts, you can find it HERE & HERE

Sony NEX-5 Conclusion:

I think for those of you who’s looking for light and compact design SLR camera, This is for you because it got a very simple and graphical interface menu, Also if you’re traveling alot and you want to take it with you even with all the lenses it wont take a lot of space in your bag same as the normal SLR.

This is the camera i want! Glad to read a good review about it. šŸ™‚ It only makes me want it even more. Unfortunetly they dont sell it in q8 yet (last time i checked, which was about a month ago). May i ask where your wife purchased it from?

  9. Mishary says:

a la Mocha, I think its from Amazon

  10. QueenB says:

I fell in love with this camera as soon as I saw it on your post that I went on amazon and ordered me one within minutes! I’ve always loved photography but never learned anything professionally.I’ve been thinking of getting a digital SLR camera for a while but was always indecisive…then I saw the compactness of this one and immediately knew that this is the one for me.

I would love to take a beginners class here in Kuwait to learn the basics of photgraphy. Do you happen to know of such classes?

    Thanks!

Will check it out, thanks. šŸ™‚
