Saudi Arabia unveils it’s first locally built car. The car is an SUV, a 4 wheel drive, and had just got the OK from King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on Monday to enter production.

There are not much details about the car except that it’s named Ghazal 1, it’s 4.8 meters long and 1.9 meters wide and is a four wheel drive. The plan is to produce 20,000 units over the next 3 years.

I just came back from there, we were thinking of places to go for dinner but we were out of names. All 3 of us had our no-no restaurant, we contemplated: Maki, Chillis, The Noodle House, Don Mario’s, Oriental Cuisine, Ricardo, Fridays, Burger boutique, Sliders, Prime n Toast.. etc. But each and everyone of these was turned down by one of us. You’d think a dinner won’t be that complicated, but it is in our case.. always.

Just when we were thinking of bo6a6 o badiyan and falafil for dinner Kuwait Towers restaurant was mentioned. To make a long story short, after a little while we agreed to go there. The place in my opinion is amazing, the Kuwait Towers location and the view were just perfect. Everything else was crap. Pure Crap. Seriously.

It’s a buffet, an over priced buffet (coz the food sucked), with bad service, bad food, bad everything. I mean what a shame to have that magnificent location and view and to be placed at the top of a frickin landmark! and have it all go to waste with a well below average food?

Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a great restaurant up there? A 5 star place where people would reserve tables a month in advance to get a chance to taste an international chef’s dishes (daydreaming?). My friend was telling us while eating “If this was in Dubai we’d be hearing about world renowned chefs visiting the place every month and the place would probably be one of the IT places in town.”

A little piece of advice, DON’T think of going there, it was a big mistake that will never happen again. And if you ever had guests come to Kuwait, take them there in the afternoons, let them enjoy the panorama view, and then leave.

Made me regret not having a falafil for dinner. What a shame.

That is one lucky boy!

The boy was with his father in the mall, and apparently the father wasn’t looking when the boy decided to hold the escalator belt and climb to the top before falling.. Thank God a man spotted the kid before falling and was there to catch him.

I’ll be leaving today to Qatar! I don’t know why Qatar, especially in this hot weather, but I’ve been wanting to go there ever since Intlxpatr started posting about it.. and since I don’t get to have a real vacation this summer, Qatar sounded real good to me and my friends.

I know nothing about the country, I’ll be collecting information from here and there. My friend intlxpatr gave me some valuable info about places to go and see, and I had them saved on my mobile. If you know any good places to visit in Qatar PLEASE do tell! I’m gonna need everything you know about the country. I’m going to be there for the weekend only and ofcourse will be posting about it when I get back.

I’m Not Going!

Bad luck at it’s best! I was informed just 3 hours before the take off that I had some work related stuff to do, and I have to work on it during the weekend coz the deadline is on Sunday at 8 am.. Woohoo! 👿 I just hate it when I prepare myself for something and have it taken away from me just like that!

P.S. The nice friends of mine are now boarding the plane. How nice the situation that I’m in is, huh?

P.P.S. The plane got delayed, then almost took off without them.

Zain logo

We posted about Zain’s Mishref branch violation yesterday, they read it, and here is their response:

“Dear Yousef,

I hope this email finds you well.

In regards to your post Oh-Oh Zain, this issue came-up after we have re-branded our Mishref branch and the violation is only about a small part of the branch front door.
We are now arranging with Mishref Co-op for the necessary actions to be taken in regards to this unexpected matter. I hope this clears everything to you and to your respectful blog readers.

I would also like to stress on that Zain welcomes valid feedbacks, comments, and questions through its various support channels.

Wishing you – and Mishary- all the best in your blog. Keep it up.”

I like it when people take criticism well. I’ve heard many horror stories about sponsors and their need to be glorified, and I’m glad this isn’t the case with Zain. I’m also glad they’re taking the necessary actions to solve this issue.

Thanks for the clarification!

Indonesian Woman Claims She's 157 Years Old!
^Click on it to read the full article in arabic.

Turinah is an Indonesian woman who claims to be 157 years old. She’s from a small village in Sumatra and despite being so old, has no problems with her sight, hearing nor memory, and she speaks fluent dutch.

She has no official papers to prove her age, but going by her adopted daughter’s age, which is 108, there is a good chance she might be telling the truth about her own age. Which could mean she broke the age record that was set by Jeanne Calment who died in 1997 at the age of 122.

Helen Thomas started her career in 1943, She’s a journalist, a longtime White House correspondent, and a front-seater person at the press room in the WhiteHouse.

What happened? Well she has been attacked by an infuriated media after some comments she made about Israel and how they should get out of palestine and go back to europe. Her exacts words were:

  • “Israel should get the hell out of Palestine.”
  • “Remember, these people (Palestinians) are occupied, and it’s their land.”

And for saying those words, she was condemned by the (media-brainwashed) public and the media, which led her to announce her retirement. Her amazing career spanning 60 years was ended because of what she said.

The media is shocked over her comments, they’re outraged, they cannot fathom how someone would say anything bad about Israel. They believe in freedom of speech, they have different opinions, but when it comes to Israel, support should be unanimous! No one badmouth Israel! or at least no one gets away with it!

So Helen Thomas quitted her 6 decades job and I have a feeling that she’ll always be remembered, not for her accomplishments, but for having a controversial & offensive comments about Israel.

By the way, she apologized about her comments above and said:

“I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians, they do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.”

Ansam is one of the few people in the blogosphere we trust for having a great taste in food, and she just had a dessert named after her! Yep, Napket just named a frozen yogurt after her. The yogurt is called Ansam’s Icy Yogurt, it’s a watermelon icy yogurt flavor topped with pomegranate and a sprinkle of rose water.

It’s available at Napket starting today. Give it a try and let her know what you think!

I read The Lovely Bones a while ago and thought it wasn’t all that, but I remember thinking, while turning the last pages, that these tragic events should make for a great movie. It eventually did!

The movie is about a girl whose name was Salmon, yep just like the fish, Susie Salmon, and she was only 14 when she was murdered.

On December 6th of 1973, the teenage girl was on her way back home from school when she was leered by a familiar face, raped and then brutally murdered. Her family struggle to pull their lives together as they try to find her killer. She narrates the movie from up above, where she carefully watches every step her family, and her killer, make.

The movie was all around a great movie. You all have to watch it.

Note: Actor Stanley Tucci keeps on surprising me with his talent. He is absolutely great in this one. In Julie & Julia as well.

As the weather starts to heat up and wildlife begins to wake up, it’s best to be prepared for anything that may try to invade your home.

Nearly everyone and everything enjoys the spring weather, but there is one creature that can definitely ruin the experience.

The phrase “ants at a picnic” exists for a reason, but it turns out there are worse things — like ants in your home. Don’t worry; there are ways to keep these tiny creepy crawlies out of your home and yard.

Here are seven quick tips on how to get rid of ants from your kitchen to your yard.

don't let ants ruin your picnic

1. Track Them Down: Find Out Where They Are Coming From

If you do discover some tiny segmented invaders in your pantry or kitchen, the first thing you should do is find out how they got in. Check areas ants frequent or places they might appear.

Watch where they go and try to see where these little pests are coming from. Some common areas you will find ants include damp areas, like under sinks. Soft spongey areas beneath plumbing or leaks can be a draw. Check out these fuze bug reviews.

Check the framing and flooring, especially around windows, doors, and vents. Other areas besides kitchens ants frequent include attics, bathrooms, and walls. Do some recon and find out where these pests are coming in so you can seal up any possible openings.

2. Erase Ant Trails

Maybe you’ve only spotted one ant. Well, be wary; a single ant is usually sent out to scout. If you see one, don’t panic. However, if you do spot one invader, there are bound to be others.

Stop them from casing the place by shutting down the scout teams. Ants typically leave behind a trail for other ants to follow. To put an end to this, you’ll need to create a solution to erase it completely.

Creating a solution is simple. Mix one-part vinegar with three parts water and you have a safe, non-toxic way to erase ant trails.

3. Baits and Traps

Unfortunately, it may be too late to cut-off the scout team. Don’t worry; there are other methods you can use to stop them. One easy solution is using baits and traps.

These over-the-counter killers are usually sold in small containers that you can place just about anywhere. Since they are sealed, they are less dangerous than sprays. However, it’s a good idea to keep them out of reach from animals and children.

You can stick these little traps wherever you see activity:

  • Cabinets
  • Countertops
  • Dinks
  • Under the stove
  • Drains
  • Pipes and cables
  • Bathrooms
  • Medicine cabinets

If you are using traps, the ants will go inside and won’t come back out. If you are trying out the bait, resist the urge to squash. Ants will take the bait back to their colonies and destroy it from within. Either method can be effective in getting rid of these pests for good.

4. Keep Things Clean

When ants work their way inside your home, they are on the lookout for one thing: food. The best thing you can do is make sure they aren’t robbing your pantry blind. After meals and cooking, clean things as thoroughly as possible. Wipe counters and floors down, and wash dishes regularly.

Store your food, including pet food, in sealed containers. Try not to leave any uneaten food out and keep meals contained in one or two rooms. If you cut off their food source, the ants will look elsewhere for their free meals.

Six ships with 700 people from 50 nationalities carrying aids to Gaza were intercepted and attacked by the Israeli troops. The attack resulted in many deaths and injuries.

I was there today in the parking lot when a perfectly healthy woman, along with her 2 healthy little daughters, parked her car in the handicapped parking area. They strolled past me and walked into the mall like there was nothing wrong with what she just did.

What a great role model.

My mother is in a wheelchair, and when we go out we sometimes have to deal with things like this. If only they knew how much they affect people that are already unfortunate enough to be wheelchair bound. To some you know what no handicap spots means? It means turning back and going back home, or elsewhere. Bottom line, it means they don’t get to go to the place they were driven to. What a lack of empathy.

I try to do the best for my mom. Yes, her disability puts such a strain on her, it really does affect her deeply. We all try to be there for her so that she doesn’t let it bother her as much. I looked at several wheelchairs, researched online, talked to several people, to try to get her the best one with our possibilities and her needs in mind. I didn’t know the first thing about wheelchairs when I started, but by the end I was an expert. I ordered the exact model I wanted from kdsmartwheelchair.com, and so far she has been enjoying it. I’m so thankful my hard work did pay off. She tries her best of course. We all do. It’s the good thing about family when it doesn’t turn into a full on mess as I’ve seen so many around me. The good thing being, it is the best emotional support structure a person could possibly ask for. Together we’ve overcome so much.

And yet others, much more fortunate, pictured here.
