Taken from Apple.com:

Today Apple announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange program.
Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.

The ultracompact USB power adapters were supplied with every iPhone 3G sold in the following countries:
▪ US
▪ Japan
▪ Canada
▪ Mexico
▪ Several Latin American countries

Users with ultracompact power adapters should immediately stop using them until they exchange them for a new, redesigned ultracompact adapter.

In the meantime, they should charge their iPhone 3G by connecting it to their computer with the USB cable that came with their iPhone or by using a standard-sized Apple USB Power Adapter (with fold up prongs) or with a third party adapter designed to work with the iPhone, such as a car charger.

Thanks Khalid.

5 months ago I posted how it was easy to get an iTunes card off ebay, and till a couple of days ago it was the only way I could get an iTunes card. Well, the other day khalid made a comment on that post saying that he sell those cards.

I emailed him and learned that:

1-He sells iTunes gift cards and provide the cards via email.
2-Every $1 = 350 fils, which means a $10 iTunes card would cost 3.5kd and so on..
3-He’s got 2 bank accounts as a method of payment, meaning you deposit the card’s worth to his account on either Gulf Bank or NBK.

Here is his E-MAIL if you’re interested in buying some iTunes cards.

Apple just wrapped their ‘Let’s Rock’ event and these are the announced products:

-New iPod Nanos.
-iTunes 8.
-New thinner iPod Touch 2.0
-New colors for Shuffle.
-iPod Classics (I don’t get this update. They no longer have the 160GB?)

Thanks loco for reminding me.

My phone is starting to fall apart and this little piece (above) falling out is definitely a sign to move on and get a new one. I liked the phone coz it was simple, easy to use and needed nothing more than a charge every 2 days. But now I’m thinking of buying something with more features and you know more features always mean bulkier. I have little knowledge when it comes to mobile phones, and right now all I know is that I need a change and something different from the mobile types I’m used to.

The things I want in my new mobile phone:

1-Great build.
2-A screen big enough to view emails and sites.
3-A mobile made to be used for internet stuff.
4-A good camera would be nice.

Mobiles I’m considering:

-iPhone.
-Blackberry Bold.
-Nokia E71.

The phone I’m most likely to buy is the blackberry, for 2 reasons:

1-The iPhone is too much hassle with the unlocking and version updating.
2-E71 is a Nokia phone. I’ve been off Nokia for years now. They’re inherently cheap.

I don’t know whether I’d enjoy using a mobile as bulky as the Blackberry (or any of the above listed mobiles), I just know that I want something different this time.

Since my Macbook Pro is going crazy these days im thinking of gettin a new MB but i want it to be smaller than mine (mine is the 15.4″) so the only option is gettin the Air, but my question, Is it the correct time to buy the Air now? or wait? is there any annoucement soon? Does it worth KD470? i know its SEXY but you know is it a heavy duty machine? i want it to be my main laptop.

This video shows the mobile revolution since 1985 till 2008, i remmembered some of the mobiles which i was in love with before but when i looked at them now mesakeeen e6la3aw efashlooon 😛

Today i was checking ebay for an unlocked 3G iPhone, gelt yomken algah shay, and i was shocked that there is more than one! and you can choose if u want a white or black one. HERE is an example of what i found. i did some search and came up that in Italy there is a law that obliged Apple to legally unlock their iPhones. You can read more about it HERE. But guess what it gonna cost you.. KD370 for a legal unlocked iPhone 🙂

I happened to be in Geneve today and happened to remember that I wanted to take a look at the new iPhone which incidently was released today and I, most probably, would’ve taken it to the cashier and paid for it immediately, no matter how pricey the Les offres d’abonnement (subscription plans) were.

I entered the shop and went to the machine to take a number to wait inline, there weren’t much people in there and that was no surprise, coz the french and technology do not mix, its like mixing chocolate with cheese or socks with slippers or boxers with dishdashas (the latter can be possible at times). The machine had a piece of paper on it, and in big letters I saw the word iPhone. I managed to understand half of it and I learned that I should not take a piece of paper and wait inline, instead I should go directly to the iPhone employee. I looked around and sure enough there was a lady with many iPhone brochures in her hand hanging near the iPhone stand talking to some guy. I went to her and asked her if she spoke english and she did “Just a Littol.” She asked if i’m interested in buying one and I said yes, she then handed me a piece of paper to write my name down along with my number and address. I wished I haven’t asked her why, I wish I haven’t already saw the iPhone and played with it and saw it’s back and asked for the white version. She told me “we will put you in a list and then we will call you when we have more iPhones.” Again I wish I haven’t asked about the the waiting list either.. “over 530 people in the waiting list. just for this shop. other shops may have less people in the waiting list” she said, “maybe you wait for 1 month to buy the iPhone,” she concluded. On my way out, as i passed by the number-giving machine, I realized that the paper i read earlier is there to let us know that the iPhone is SOLD OUT and that if we want to put our names in the waiting list we shouldn’t take a number, instead go directly and talk to the iPhone lady.. (fe6een fe6een!)

And thats how my wish of iny a7ir Mishary and Hamad went down the drain. Just like that.

Appleinsider has a thread going on about how it sold out all through switzerland, and maybe even throughout europe.

All I ended up getting was this piece of information: 519 SFR (134KD) for the 8GB and 619 SFR (159KD) for the 16GB. It’s a 2 years plan but you can always throw the simcard away and pay nothing more than the price I just provided. And one more thing, the 3G iPhone Feels/looks Good. A phone like this requires constant network connection so that the user has the liberty to use all its features. To know more about this contact Advanced Telecom Systems.

Kuwait has finally made it into the iTunes store list! This is great news!

Thanks a lot Kha

I received an email today from Swisscom telling me the 3G iPhone is going to be released the day after tomorrow. I read their page and I think it says that I can’t buy one without subscribing with their service. How am I supposed to buy this thing without letting them charge my visa for 12 or 24 months? I know there must be a way but at the moment I just don’t get the whole thing. Read their subscription’s details HERE.

This is going to be my first ever iPhone. 😀

Swisscom.

Apparently its not going to be so out of the question to buy a new and officially unlocked iphone in the US.

“Apple’s popular iPhone can be yours, no contract required. But there’s a catch — and a pricey one at that.

AT&T yesterday announced that it will offer the smartphone to people who want to use another carrier, starting at $599.

The iPhone 3G, scheduled for a July 11 release, will be available for $199 to new AT&T customers or existing customers eligible for an upgrade — under a two-year contract. The larger-capacity 16-gigabyte model will cost $299 under the same conditions.

For those looking to use another carrier, the 16-gigabyte version will cost $699.”

Ouch! $699 instead of $299 just to buy it without the AT&T contract!?

Since Ramadan is getting closer and i know there will be tons of kuwaiti series and talk shows, i think I’ll need something like a media center for me which is capable of:

  • Recording directly from a reciever or DVD player.
  • Can watch YouTube with it <- (MUST coz my wife is a BIG fan of YouTube 🙂 ).
  • Built in hard drive.
  • Can work with Mac.
  • WiFi – G or N doesn’t matter.

A little search in Amazon plus Google ended up with:

Can anyone help me with it? can anyone find one with all the features above?

UPDATE:

INM just got his Archos TV+ I just bought it from INM ((sharaita 3ala kharaba 😛 )) and it seems its nearly perfect device, it got HD, YouTube, and many more. im thinking of getting one. BTW i will make a review of it.

Taken from the official google reader’s blog:

Today we’re releasing a new beta version of Reader designed for the iPhone and other mobile phones with advanced browsers. You can use it by visiting http://www.google.com/reader/i/ on your phone.

“Although Apple is marketing Mac OS X Snow Leopard as an operating system update with “no new features,” under the hood improvements will actually translate into a slew of new enhancements”

New multi-touch framework

With all Apple notebook systems due to ship with multi-touch enabled trackpads following this summer’s MacBook and MacBook Pro design overhauls, Apple is putting the finishing touches on a complete multi-touch framework that will ship as part of Snow Leopard.”

Slimmer applications

Another goal of Snow Leopard is to reduce the overall footprint of Mac OS X so that it can be scaled to a growing array of mobile devices that will rely on lower capacity solid-state Flash RAM drives, like the upcoming Apple Newton Web tablet.”

Text processing features

Taking a page out of Redmond’s handbook for once, Snow Leopard will also leverage text processing features originally conceived by Microsoft as features for Word.”

Auto Activation

Apple will also build out its Data Detector technology with Snow Leopard. In addition to extracting contacts and events from Mail as it does in Mac OS X Leopard, the technology will be used to help expand upon Font Book to provide full Auto Activation of any fonts requested by any application, using Spotlight to track them down.”

ZFS Support

Finally, Snow Leopard will also be the first version of Mac OS X to boast full support for the much ballyhooed ZFS file system, originally designed by Sun Microsystems for the Solaris Operating System.

Mac OS X Leopard debuted read-only ZFS features, but Snow Leopard and Snow Leopard Server will provide both read and write support for the new 128-bit file system.”

Note: You know what I think the most important phrase in all of this copy-paste fest that just happened? This phrase “ship with multi-touch enabled trackpads following this summer’s MacBook and MacBook Pro design overhauls.” uhhh… WHAT!! 😯

Taken from Apple Insider, here is the FULL ARTICLE.

Thanks Taymoor.
