I think this will help a lot of people out side Kuwait .. this is a site which will auto locate your Qibla  based on google maps  all you need is just type the location  that u in and the red line will represent  the Qibla for you as simple as that.

This strange bar of soap was apparently discovered in Russia. I can’t read Russian, but it translates to “the purest soap.” Somehow I doubt that this is a real product, probably something crafted by someone with a sense of humor. Either way, I wouldn’t mind having a bar of this sitting in my bathroom.

Mishary Posted the other day about DHL’s @ Home Service. So, I went yesterday and signed up in DHL’s new service. They’re open from 9am till 6pm. I went around 2 o’clock and was greeted by the one and only, Ms Sarita (early members of Aramex’s shop and ship will know her very well). She was as friendly and as efficient as ever. She recognized me and said “you gained weight haven’t you?” at first I thought she was talking about herself so I replied “No! you look better than ever!” later I realized the comments was directed at me! err…

Ok, so She started by saying “I don’t want to over sell the service we have here, coz its really knew and we’re still working on lot of things.”

Pros:

1)You have Sarita working there.
2)Just like aramex it costs 2.5kd for the first 1/2 kilo and then 2kd for each additional 1/2 kilos.
3)The Mailbox is located in Illinois, so you can save lots on tax money (macbook pro’s tax is $240 if delivered to Aramex’s newyork address. and only $140 when delivered to illinois).
4)4 days delivery from the US to your address in Kuwait.
5)I like that its DHL. they’ve got to be worried about their reputation, so the chances of them screwing up are much less than the other services.
6)You have an optional 2% insurance. it covers the whole amount. so If you ever receive a damaged package, you can get your full money back. no matter how large the amount is.

Cons:
1)Its still a pretty new service, so there are lots of missing options (like tracking ur package) but She, Sarita, told me I can call her whenever I want to know the status of the shipment. and she’ll call whenever it arrives.
2)They charge on either, the package’s weight or its volume whichever is the highest. (a guy ordered light plane model and is being charged a big sum of money because of the size of the package).

I just love dealing with Sarita. thats why I think this new service is going to Rock!

I walked into a Zain branch today with dark clouds hovering over my head, I wanted to complain. I wanted to make, whoever ignored the phone and let it ring forever, Suffer the wrath of an annoyed customer! All I wanted was to ask if they had eGo Devices in stock and nobody was picking up! But I decided to finish what i came for first, then do the complaining. So, I went took a number (#222) and waited inline. There was a very huge group of people (taking up all of the waiting area) ahead of me and only 1 hour left for the branch to close.

I waited for 45 minutes and still the board read 221, my number was 222. more than 45 minutes have gone by and that board still showing the same friggin number! I saw the lady at the desk and she was NOT busy and to make matters worse, she stood and started walking away from her desk. She talked on the phone, walked around, chatted with her friends. I wanted to yell at something. There was a guy with a ZAIN badge walking around making sure everything is running smoothly. “AHA!!” I thought.

Me: Excuse me! I’ve been waiting here for more than 45 minutes now and i’m still waiting for that number to change! i’m holding the number next to that one!
Him: ok ok.. no problem, let me…
Me: You can’t treat customers like this! i’ve been calling this branch for hours and no one answers! and now you make me wait for almost an hour here!
Him: whats the number you’re holding?
Me: 222!
Him: But Sir? We’re on 225 now.
Me: whah? where??? that board is showing 221!
Him: thats just the desk’s counter, and the lady is taking a break. we have many other desks and they’re still taking customers.
Me: err… uhhh… well you should’ve put a bigger board!
Him: we have a bigger one, its right —> there.
Me: oh.. hmm… aa…. *looks around for the nearest black hole*

Moral of the story: Look around before you open your big mouth. Or better yet, STAY QUIET!!

Today Ahmad called Sarita in DHL to ask about their @ Home service, and here is the main idea:

They have the same price as Aramex for shipments.

Perfumes & cosmetics are allowed.

They allow shipments over 30KG.

They don’t have a restriction on the value of the shipment (Aramex have a $2500 limit, above that they require export papers).

Their default insurance is $100 unless you request additional insurance (I’m not sure about Aramex on this point).

Your mailbox will be in Illinois.

Here are some more infos I got from their Site:

Its a service for shipments from businesses to U.S. residential locations, including P.O. boxes.

The Standard delivery is within 2 – 4 business days, Deferred delivery within 2 – 7 business days.

Door-to-door visibility and tracking. (I’d appreciate it if I can Really track the package)

Things I still want to know more about are:

1- Do we have more than the cash option to pay for our packages? (online or Knet maybe?)
2- Do They check my mailbox daily or weekly?

Today i was talking with Bashar, he asked me if i have seen a show called “Kasou Taishou” in YouTube my answer was NO. When i went home i did some search and came up with this information:

Kinchan and Katori Shingo’s All Japan Costume Grand Prix) is a semi-annual show on NTV in which various amateur groups (or solo artists) perform short skits, which are rated by a panel of judges. Especially in recent years, many of the skits have revolved around clever methods of “faking” cinematic special effects on a live stage. The most famous of these skits, and the most successful at “fake special effects” was a skit which is widely known as “Matrix ping pong“.

Here’s a really great image looking back at the royal roots of the three Nintendo big boys; Mario, Link and Donkey Kong. There isn’t any monochrome character love from the old days proper, but it is quite an extensive time line nonetheless, which culminates in the modern day incarnations of our beloved superheroes. Things we have learnt from the image include the fact Link has been know to walk about without his hat and Mario hasn’t always had enough pixels for a well defined mustache.

Today i was talking to Ahmad and he mentioned a SUPER COOL information about Firefox Add-ons, this plug in turns all the prices in the site into any currency you want! No more calculators and NO more multiplying by 0.27xxx.

As you can see above it will be displayed next to the $ price between brackets. The script comes pre-configured with Amazon.com but you can add all your favorite sites Like Ebay.com, Target.com …ect.

For the MAC users, dont worry it will runs on our OSX

If your wishing to install it, first you need to install Greasemonkey Add-on, then you need to install Amazon Local Currency script. For those who worry about updating the currency exchange rates, Worry no more! The script will auto update your currency from Yahoo Finance

P.S. this software will give you the feeling that Amazon or ebay is a Kuwaiti site!

Here is an amazing search engine for those of you who don’t have arabic keyboards, yet you find yourself once every blue moon looking for other computers with arabic keyboards just to type a word or two.

whats amazing with this site, is that you don’t have to struggle with the spelling, you can type using ur regular Arabish letters (mIRC letters, like the 3 for 3aba3aal and 7 for 7mar) and it will recognize the letters and turns them into arabic letters.
