New low fare airliner just like Jazeera airways and Arabiya. The above screen shot is of the first available weekend from Kuwait to Dubai and back.

I just took a quick look at their website and learned that:

  1. you get to take one hand bag weighing 10kg for free, but if you have a bag to check in, you pay 40Dhs (3.2KD) for the first bag, and a 100Dhs (7.9kd) for each additional bag. I think this airliner would be good for weekends and quick getaways where you don’t need much clothes.
  2. You can choose a seat by paying an extra 5Dhs (1.5kd).
  3. You can get extra leg room by paying an extra 100Dhs (7.9kd).

You get the idea. You pay for every extra and by having that option you could get the lowest fares possible.

Fly Dubai

Thanks Fawaz

“Members of the public will be able to watch the inauguration of Burj Dubai on January 4, 2010 from the adjacent Burj Park Island.” – Emaar

The years have gone by pretty quickly! I remember being near that piece of land and watching the constructions as they began turning it into what it is today. I’m looking forward to watch what this building is really like from the inside.

The Noodle House has new dishes to it’s menu. This is good news to me since I used to go there at least twice a week when I was studying in the UAE. I used to always have their green chicken curry, it was one of the best green curries till they took off the menu.. I hope the Kuwaiti version is as good.

Etisalat Spying on Blackberry users

It seems that the UAE based telecommunication company, Etisalat, messed up big time. They sent out a message to all of it’s 100,000 Blackberry subscribers urging them to update their mobile with the latest Etisalat patch: “Etisalat network upgrade for BlackBerry service. Please download to ensure continuous service quality.”

The application slowed mobiles’ performances and drained their batteries. After a closer look at the patch they found out that it contains an application that allow the company to intercept and get a copy of each email and sms sent. This option is turned off by default, However, it could be turned out remotely if they wanted to.

“he said that once installed, it potentially gives Etisalat the power to view all emails and text messages sent from the BlackBerry.”

“I don’t think it’s been designed for a large scale deployment,” he said. “They have released it as an upgrade across all UAE BlackBerry handsets, all of which have tried to phone home to this one registration server at the same time, and that has effectively brought the server to its knees. When the BlackBerry cannot register itself, it tries again and this causes the battery drain.” – Nigel Gourlay

diego-maradona-sports-cafe-in-dubai

Maradona is going to launch his first sports cafe in Dubai sometime next year. The cafe is going to have an all football theme and is developed by “UAE property tycoon Sulaiman Al Fahim, architect of last year’s Manchester City takeover.”

Excerpts from the article:

“The café – modelled on the Planet Hollywood concept – will feature memorabilia from the Argentinean footballer’s career, and also include items from other soccer stars such as Brazilian heroes Pele, Zico and Dunga.

Maradona’s cousin Remigio Martin Maradona told Arabian Business: “It will be a football café featuring themes from many football greats, not just Maradona.

It will be dedicated to soccer, with screens showing World Cup goals, and shirts, balls, gloves and other items donated by people like Pele,” he added.”

In a couple of hours i will be heading to Abu Dhabi to attend a confrence. I’ll be staying for almost 4 days. I book a hotel at Dubai’s borders, nearest possible hotel to AbuDhabi. I’ll be connected to the blogging world, I brought all the needed equipment to do so.

My friend shot this video of the new Nissan Z370, which was under cover and being tested in sheikh Zayed’s street, while he was in Dubai on 18-12-08.

I got this via email so I don’t know how true it is and when they’ll start using them in Kuwait:

“There is a new road tracking system on Dubai Roads. These are not just nicer looking radar cameras – they are a lot more lethal, so be careful.

First thing is that these cameras do not flash. They can take photos in complete darkness through ultra-light sensors, so even if it does not flash, it could have caught you. They also automatically read your number plate from the picture taken.

Now, comes the thing that catches most people. These cameras are continuous photo-taking cameras and they will take your photo regardless if you have been speeding or not. Then the next camera in 3-5 kms again does the same. Now, instead of checking your speed through advanced radars, these cameras are very simple and all they do is calculate how fast you traveled between the 2 cameras. If you arrived at the next camera faster than 120 km/h (or whatever the speed limit is) then you get fined.”

Thanks Tariq.

Yes its camels milk used in chocolates. Don’t ask why but Dubai decided to enter the chocolate world with a new idea based on camel’s milk. I think they got inspired by our song “Our camel lovely camel …”  if your interested, just click the link below to continue reading and also placing an order with them, and if not just stop here :)
