You know when you hear about something for the first time and then you find everybody talking about it later? well that happened on thursday.

I heard about a ridiculous new fad (Kuwaitis never fail to surprise me with their fads) about a new popcorn place that opened in Dubai, called Garret popcorn. People have been going crazy about it in kuwait and have their relatives or friends, whoever is going to Dubai, bring them some of this special popcorn

Let me just say, it doesn’t taste spectacular like I was led to believe (My friend told me it tastes different when it’s fresh, which again makes me wonder why would anyone bring it over from Dubai if it won’t taste as good?) So basically, ma3indekom salfa. It taste like any other popcorn I’ve tried (judging by the flavor I tried; the cheese and caramel flavor).

If you’re into popcorns then why don’t we support Kuwaiti based businesses instead? Like Popup popcorn or some other Kuwaiti based popcorn, or the have em at the cinemas! Anywhere where freshness is guaranteed.

Or better yet, why don’t you wait till AlShaya bring the franchise over.. y’all know it’s only a matter of time, right?

I just took a quick look at their website and learned that:

1. you get to take one hand bag weighing 10kg for free, but if you have a bag to check in, you pay 40Dhs (3.2KD) for the first bag, and a 100Dhs (7.9kd) for each additional bag. I think this airliner would be good for weekends and quick getaways where you don’t need much clothes.
2. You can choose a seat by paying an extra 5Dhs (1.5kd).
3. You can get extra leg room by paying an extra 100Dhs (7.9kd).

You get the idea. You pay for every extra and by having that option you could get the lowest fares possible.

The Noodle House has new dishes to it’s menu. This is good news to me since I used to go there at least twice a week when I was studying in the UAE. I used to always have their green chicken curry, it was one of the best green curries till they took off the menu.. I hope the Kuwaiti version is as good.

It seems that the UAE based telecommunication company, Etisalat, messed up big time. They sent out a message to all of it’s 100,000 Blackberry subscribers urging them to update their mobile with the latest Etisalat patch: “Etisalat network upgrade for BlackBerry service. Please download to ensure continuous service quality.”

The application slowed mobiles’ performances and drained their batteries. After a closer look at the patch they found out that it contains an application that allow the company to intercept and get a copy of each email and sms sent. This option is turned off by default, However, it could be turned out remotely if they wanted to.

“he said that once installed, it potentially gives Etisalat the power to view all emails and text messages sent from the BlackBerry.”

“I don’t think it’s been designed for a large scale deployment,” he said. “They have released it as an upgrade across all UAE BlackBerry handsets, all of which have tried to phone home to this one registration server at the same time, and that has effectively brought the server to its knees. When the BlackBerry cannot register itself, it tries again and this causes the battery drain.” – Nigel Gourlay
