This was an emotional announcement by Oprah on her show, telling her audience her decision to retire in 2011, on her 25th season into the Oprah Winfrey show.
She won’t be out of the entertainment business though. She plans to launch her own channel on cable TV, and she named it OWN, which stands for Oprah Winfrey Network.
It’s sad to see Oprah go after all these years on tv, and I’m sure it’s a sad day for her fans. But hey, she did good. Real good actually. She gave us the Oprah Winfrey show, and in return The Oprah Winfrey Show gave her $2.3 Billion.
The movie rocked. I don’t know why it got negative feedback from some our readers and from some bloggers coz I for one loved the movie and it totally met my expectations.
What were my expecations?
Earth destruction ✔
Huge effects ✔
Cheesiness to minimum ✔
Extremely good graphics ✔
Lots of Action Scenes ✔
Entertaining ✔
I got all my expectations checked!
Aside from the many goodbyes’s scenes, where everyone was saying their final farewells, which kind of dragged on for a while, I liked it a lot, and found it exactly how I wanted it to be.
One question remains though: With all the money they spend on movies each year researching, getting information from scientists, developing state of the art machines to make their movies as believable as possible.. Can’t they for ONCE get a decent arab guy to tell them how do we wear our Dishdashas and Ghetras!!!
Earlier tonight I was invited to see the new Michael Moore movie, Capitalism: A love story. First and foremost I’d like to say that KNCC putting an effort to attract people from the Kuwaiti blogging community shows forward thinking and I’m glad and grateful that I was invited. I think that seeing such a prominent company tap into the blogging community is a testament to the blogging movement in Kuwait as a whole.
Ok. The Movie. If you’ve never seen Michael Moore’s documentaries in the past you may assume that this is just another boring documentary dealing with facts, figures, numbers, historical events… yeah so basically you’d think it’d be a snooze fest. While these factors were there, they were used in a way that made this documentary far from boring. The commentary in the background was full of wit, humor and sarcasm in pointing out the tragic ironies caused by the system. A system that is accused by the movie of causing the exploitation of the poor while the rich just get richer. Let me assure you, Michael Moore is no fan of capitalism in fact this whole movie strikes me as a propaganda campaign against the negative side effects of Capitalism.
I’m not gonna ruin it for you, overall it’s an enjoyable movie and it does give you something to think about, however, its useful to know that it represents a certain view point and is far from being objective.
I enjoy watching: Free Radio and Head Case. Both are outrageously funny and have the most embarrassing situations.
Head Case is about this psychiatrist who lives in a hotel, and is unethical and emotionally unstable i.e. A mess. She is a psychiatrists to the stars, all her clients are celebrities, but she talks about how screwed up her clients are to everybody. This show is off the hook.
Free Radio is a show about a radio program that airs in the morning and has 2 hosts, one of them is this clueless host, lance, who utters the most embarrassing things on air. The show has a unique thing going on, it is completely improvised, and the guests who appear on their morning show are real celebrity guests promoting real events and projects.
Just heard that Beyoce’s next concert will be in Egypt at Port Ghalib, and it will be on Friday the 6th of November 09, Thats what I know, I think Yousef knows better than me about the pricing and all.

Mariah’s yet unreleased album, Memoirs of an imperfect angel, has finally leaked to the internet. I’m getting my first real listens to the songs right now, and I could definitely feel that this one’s going to be an instant classic with the fans.
I ordered one from amazon.com but I don’t know when I’m gonna receive it, especially since the Eid holiday is upon us and all. But then a couple of days ago I read in a comment that it’s available in Kuwait! so yeah.. I bought it.
The book is available at Virgin Marina mall, it’s for KD 9.5 and is only available in Hardcover.
Every time whenever I travel to anywhere I miss my favorite shows and soaps, and at summer times it gets worse because we usually stay for a month or 2 away and without our favorite channels. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to search the net for a streaming tool that’d let me watch thr channels through the net and found out the SlingBox. For more pictures and video and information click below.
I just watched the trailer and I can’t wait to see the movie in november. This movies, The Fourth Kind, is about the alien encounters of the fourth kind, which is abductions. It takes some real footage from interviews with some of the abducted people, and they duplicate the scenes and act them out for the movie. The footage could be real, or not, I couldn’t care less, all I know is that I wanna watch this movie!
About the movie:
” This encounter (Fourth) has been the most difficult to document-until now. Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where–mysteriously since the 1960s–a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.”
Mariah Carey does a cover of foreigners “I want to know what love is”, and it’s Mariah’s second single off of her yet unreleased album, Memoirs of an imperfect angel.
I must say that this song is superb, going by the music scene today, this is one of the better pop songs of the year, and by far better than anything any of her peers have put out lately.
But, the song also has it short comings, one of which is the song’s ending and length. Just as she was about to take us there with her voice; reach for musicality’s heavens, the song’s end comes so abrupt that it feels like something’s missing. It is short and the intro, while sets the mood quite nicely, takes what could’ve been a valuable 30 seconds off of the song, which is frustrating.
There is always another way to look at it though: The short song and the hurried ending leaves the listener wanting more of it, therefor more spins at radio and hence a bigger hit.
