Läderach chocolatier suisse

I don’t usually enjoy this sort of chocolates, but this one is good. The one we tried was strawberry chocolate, and the little red bits you see in the picture taste like crushed strawberry candy.

Laderach Boutique is in Ibis hotel in Salmiya. Their phone # 25749495

Thanks HBZ

I’ve heard of this restaurant back in july when I was at Prime & Toast, it’s name was written on one of the restaurant’s walls, and when I asked the waitress she said it’s a new restaurant by the same owner/chef, and that it’ll open soon. Fast forward, today, We were a party of 5, and we reserved the Chef’s table (The Chef’s table is available twice a week, on monday and some other day. He basically cooks for your table).

As I told you on my earlier post, My friend was bent on having a fake shack burger this weekend. The recipe had main things to follow: the meat type, the veggies, and the sauce. We didn’t follow the recipe a 100%, But tried the best we can to not totally stir away. We bought all the needed stuff and headed to chalet. I didn’t care much for the Read the rest of this entry »

Faking The Shack 1

One of my friends was bent on having the fake shack this weekend after reading about it on Mark’s blog. So we went along with him and bought everything that is needed to make the Shack burger.

3 different cuts of beef, blended together and grinded, buns from the best bun maker in Kuwait, lettuce and onions.. The works!

Stay tuned for a detailed post that is coming up soon!

I just found out yesterday that it closed down. I think it’s location didn’t help, I think it would’ve had a longer run had it opened near the supermarket..

The Ricardo Serves Vitello Tonnato

I don’t know how many of you guys know what is Vitello Tonnato, those of you who know what it is will really appreciate this post :P

I got to know about this dish at Roberto’s restaurant in Geneva while I was on vacation a couple of years back. It’s a great dish, and it’s a difficult dish to accept if you’re not OK with trying out new things.

Vitello tonnato: is a veal carpaccio, only with thicker slices, and topped with creamy tuna sauce.

I know the creamy tuna on a slice of veal doesn’t sound appetizing, but it’s great, I love this dish and it is very hard to find in Kuwait. While we were at the Ricardo this past weekend (which is a great restaurant. I regret not taking the camera with me) I found this dish on the menu and had to order it. It was very good, not as good as the one at Roberto’s but close enough. Aldente restaurant in Movenpick also serves this dish but it’s nothing like the real thing.

I don't get it pinkberry kuwait

The extra granola topping was the best part. Other than that it tasted like Laban up.

Hardee's Frisco burger is back in kuwait

it’s not my favorite burger, but I know that this is a pretty popular burger in Kuwait and has lots of fans. Well rejoice it’s back.

Thanks loco

While I was at Hilton AlMangaf I saw a couple of banners advertising a new thai restaurant that’ll open soon in the hotel. I didn’t think it was very smart to have 2 thai restaurants within the hotel, they already have the Blue Elephant.. So I asked the receptionist, and it turned out that the Elephant is going to be put down, and a new one is taking it’s place. The new one as you can see from the banner, is called Yin Yang, and they promise an authentic Thai food. (Wasn’t the Blue Elephant authentic enough?)

I asked her again, “Will the staff of Blue Elephant remain and work in this new restaurant?” And she said “yes the staff would remain unchanged,” and that it’s just a name change.

If what the lady said is true then I guess this is good news to those who liked the blue elephant. But seriously if you’re looking for a real good thai food (and can overlook the extreme modesty of the restaurant’s interiors), then you’ve got to try Oriental Cuisine. I reviewed it back in April.

Anyway, Yin Yang is opening on the 15th of this month.

Teatro at Hilton going downhill

I hate it when restaurants start out strong and then deteriorate. This is the case with Teatro restaurant at Hilton Almangaf. I haven’t been there in years, I just remember that it used to be great. Me and my friend went there for lunch today and we both hated it. The sad thing is that we both agreed that the diet coke was the highlight of our lunch.

What a shame.

I heard a lot of good stuff about Signor Sassi, the newly opened restaurant, and last week I had a chance to go out with the family and we all had lunch there. It’s an italian restaurant, a franchise, brought over by Americana. This is not your typical Americana restaurant, actually when it comes to the food’s quality and taste, it’s as authentic as a n3al naydiya to elneyada :P know what I mean?

Cakelicious_1 copy

We received this new kind of cupcakes today, I wasn’t sure what to call it, since the least I could say about it to describe it, is that it’s a hybrid between regular baked cupcakes, and some sort of a pancake, Actually 2 slices of pancakes sandwiching Nutella.

We were told that this is a young Kuwaiti’s first attempt at desserts, as in He’s new to the field of selling home made desserts and this is his first, and we hope it isn’t the last, original take on desserts.

Did you notice that there is a bear hidden in the mountain near Toblerone? and the bear is the symbol of the city of Berne in Switzerland where Toblerone is produced.

Thanks Ahmad

Some one just counted McDonald’s Restaurants along with there locations exactly in the lower 48 states and came with a list of nearly 13,000-or-so, and he plug these location with some software engineering gymnastics and the result came like this. Interesting Wonder how many McDonalds we’ve got here in Kuwait.

Prelude:
There was an italian food lover back in the 1920’s who married a woman that came from a family famous for their good taste and restaurateur-ship. The couple had their first child in 1959. Soon afterwards the husband decided to open up a restaurant as a gift to his wife, and they named it Margherita. Their child grew up and inherited his Mom’s good taste and passion for cooking. Almost 50 years later this child opened up his own Margherita restaurant in Gemayze, Lebanon.

Review:
I thought the story was worth mentioning, it’s a nice one.

Anyway, We went to this restaurant when we were in Lebanon 2 weeks ago, during Ramadan, but unfortunately when we got there we discovered that they don’t serve anything but pizza till 8pm. Me and my friends were fasting, and while we would’ve loved having a pizza as a side dish or a starter, there was no way on earth we’re going to settle for pizza as a main dish, after all we were fasting and unbelievably hungry from the long day we spent in beirut. So, as my friends were preparing to leave the place, I couldn’t resist ordering a pizza to go. I just had to taste it, coz I heard some pretty nice things about their pizzas (and yeah the place smelled heavenly. It was killing me). And believe you me when I say that this is the best pizza that I have every tried! The dough is so crispy at the edges, and then sooo thin in the middle that it is impossible to lift with one hand, you’d have to lift with both hands to support the middle section. The tomato sauce, cheese (mozzarella. I asked for their best pizza and they recommended the Margherita pizza with mozzarella slices.) along with whatever spices they put in there, all were exceptionally tasty and full of flavor.

The restaurant is pretty small and cozy, with a big pizza oven in the middle of the place. Also the staff were very friendly and welcoming (except for when I asked to take some pictures).

You’ve got to try this place out. Highly recommended.

Pizzeria Margherita

Me & Ali just spoted Burger King, Scoop & Cone and Saso will be opening soon in the free zone area near Star bucks and Cafe Supreme. More pictures below.

Best home remedy for 7aarij

The M7albiya (Muhalabiya) is a great way to make sure that you don’t wake up in the morning with a 7aarij (heart burn), especially during ramadan where you’re left helpless throughout the day.

We prepare many cups similar to the one pictured above, and we all make sure to eat some later at night after our last meal. It works like magic, and prevents the 7arij every time. It’s very easy to make too.

To prepare a muhalabiya all you need is:

  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Starch
  • Rose Water

A big table spoon of starch and sugar for each cup of milk, it depends on the quantity you’re making. I would add more sugar, but thats me. Rose water is optional, a table spoon would be more than enough if you ask me.

Begin by adding all of the things mentioed above together in a pot while it’s still cold, then begin heating and stir. Keep stirring til it thickens, then pour into little cups and put em in the firdge till they cool.

You can add some fruits or nuts on top, But thats really unnecessary, After all we’re trying to avoid 7arij here.

Voila! Bon Appétit!

Note: While you’re in the kitchen and have some starch lying around, you might wanna check this post out and make use of the excess starch!

Lgaima sweets is a home business all about mini basbosas. The last time I wrote about them, their basbosas were good, but not great, but then I had their basbosas on more than one occasion over the last few months, and let me tell you that there was a great improvement in texture and taste; they mastered it.

Warning if you’re fasting: Mouthwatering pictures ahead.
