Today i went with Abdullah and Ali for dinner and then i decided to buy a coconut! (don’t ask!). I like to eat fresh coconut. So my friends suggested to go to souq sharq coz we were near by.
Before heading to the vegetable market we decided to take a look at the fish market, look around & get some pics.

It was around 10:00 pm and the market was so crowded with people!

After we were done going through every fish, we went to the vegetable market and started searching for MY COCONUT

Me and Ali searched every shop! The weird thing was whenever we asked anyone about them, the answer was like “Are you kidding? Men sejkom intaw yayeen edawroon ehny coconut??”

Finally some one heard us and told us its available in Sultan Center.
This is not bread its Baqsam!

Finally we found our lovely coconut @ Sultan Center! and they r selling it for 350 Fils/Piece.
Thanks Abdullah and Ali for joining me in my search for the coconut!

We were there by the shuttle buses location around 5:30pm and in less than a minute we were on the bus and on our way to the concert venue. everybody was excited and brought their picnic carpets and little cushions. Me & loco went with just our tickets in hand. the shuttle took 5 minutes and we were there. the place didn’t look crowded, actually it looked empty! it didn’t fill up until the last 5 minutes.

As we entered, we noticed lots of people carrying their cameras and no one was stopping them. so loco volunteered to go and bring my camera from the car. and I promised him to keep an eye on his little spot on the grass until he comes back. he went on a bus back to the parking area, lost the tickets, got yelled at by the bus driver and lost 3 kilos from a very long walk. meanwhile, i was being mocked and yelled at by a lebanese witch. she came with her husband and wanted to spread their carpet on loco’s spot!
i just said: my friend is sitting here, he’s coming back.
Husband: he’s gonna take this whole place?! this whole place?!
Me: No, just this spot *points to the spot near me*
Husband: ALL of this spot?! all of it?!
Me: NO NO JUST THIS LITTLE 0.5 meter by 0.5 meter!
Witch: so your friend is going to sit next to You RIGHT?
Me: YES.
*the witch fell to her knees, almost breaking mine, and sat EXTREMELY close to me and said*
Witch: so this is how your friend is going to sit??? *and then looked at her husband* OK, now spread the rug next to me! *looks at me* ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?
Me: isloobich raw3a.
Witch: *gave me a patronizing look and looked away*
I couldn’t say a word. i was really angry, but i could say anything, which made me even more angry.
less than 10 mintues later, her husband went away, called her on the phone and she started packing and then left. just before going away, she said “you can have this whole place for yourself now!”
loco came back 45 minutes later with the camera! hurraaay!

we waited until 8:20. The crowd stood up and were pushing us against the barrier when some lights and smokes were flashing on stage. by 8:30 Celine appeard! just on time
The concert started with a little clip. then she bursted into “I drove all night.” it was a nice song to start up the concert. she was amazing as ever!
The Setlist:
I drove all night
The Power Of Love
Taking Chances
Its all coming back to me now
To love You More
Because You Loved Me
I’m Your Angel (with her background singer)
Eyes On Me
Alone
We Will Rock You
The Show Must Go On
All By Myself
Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore
Its a Man’s world
Love Can Move Mountains
And some other Covers and songs from her catalog.

She rocked each and every song and gave it her all. It was all great. The Audience was into her and her songs. She said “Ana Ahebbak” and “Shokran.” She took a moment to thank us, and told us how a great an audience we are. She also talked a bit about Dubai, and that she’s been here for 3 days and already know why everybody talks about Dubai. “its the city of tomorrow, its the city of the future” she said.

She sang a song and then said her goodbyes and left. The audience were still not satisfied and some were angry she didn’t sing my hear will go on “The Titanic Song.” loco looked at me with an face, and I said “she’ll come back for an encore.” and She did! she came back and sang The “Titanic Song.”

It was an amazing night. lots of pushing, shoving and witches, but totally worth it.

I was introduced to The Noodle House and the chinese food in general about 3 and half years ago. My friends and roommates were regulars in this restaurant for ages before i came along. I love this restaurant and rate every other chinese restaurant based on how the food tastes in comparison. I know its not a good way to rate other restaurants, coz simply, they don’t stand a chance.

The restaurant is owned by Jumeirah International (which is owned by Dubai’s government), This alone gives it an edge an make it so far ahead of all of the other restaurants in Dubai. With a reputation like Jumeriah’s you’re gonna know it’ll be in every special and unique place, with the best decor and interior designs along with the best service in town.
The food quality is, as you may already sensed, is the best i’ve tried so far. The presentation is simple and elegant. They don’t have as many dishes as Peacock in Kuwait, but thats an advantage in my opinion, coz peacock’s menu never cease to confuse me. They have so many dishes which makes me not know exactly what i would like to order. I mean look at their chicken dishes, they have tons! IMO, If a restaurant doesn’t have standout dishes, they’re gonna offer whatever they can to compensate (but thats only my opinion peacock’s fans )

Dishes I like in The Noodle House:
Starters:
-Vegetable Spring rolls.
-Sesame prawns on toast.
-Prawn Bags
Main Dishes:
-Bakmi Goreng Noodles with shrimp & chicken (i always ask them to take out the shrimps)
-Chicken Sweet & Sour (unlike any other S&S dish i’ve tried)
-Thai Chicken with cashew nuts
-Roasted Duck (my favorite dish in this whole wide woyyd )
-Nonya Chicken Curry (they promised to bring it back to their menu soon)
They also have plenty of drinks and cocktails, but I never try them, I only order diet coke when I’m there. Yeah and its interesting to note that they offer both Pepsi’s products and Coke’s!
Easily 5 out of 5.

Yesterday me & my wife decided to go to Al-Koot Mall, Actually we prefer it because we find it less crowded than the other Malls. After we finished shopping i got a phone call from Abdullah telling me to try MUGG & BEAN Restaurant. He said that this restaurant specialized in sizing! every thing is SUPER SIZED, even if ur ordering a Hot Chocolate or Cappuccino there is a free refill! So, Naturally, We hopped on the idea and decided to give it a try.
As you can see above there are few tables inside the restaurant (its a little bit tiny inside) so we decided to sit outside. We ordered the Chicken Ceaser Salad and for the main course mix grills, The Salad was HUGE! HUGE! and very rich in chicken and bacon and ceaser sauce. Actually, its just a mix of chicken and bacon! (sij estaghrabt laish emsamenhaaa sala6a aslaan!!) But it was delicious esara7a I liked it. We really liked the starters, but the main course not so much, nothing special at all.
Its located on Sultan Center’s side, the opposite side of Paul Cafe.
I give it 3.5/5

My friend just called me and said that all of the three highways to Kuwait City (Fahaheel, Almaghreb and Alma6ar highways) are jammed with cars! he said coz the belajat (gulf) road is closed. Even INM called me and said it took him 1.5 hr to come back home.
i dont know why they r closing it? preparation of Hala Feb.? Maybe.
UPDATE:

Ali just sent me some pics that shows how crowded the streets were. According to him the blajat (Gulf) street was closed due to constructions from Al abraj (kuwait towers) to Marina Mall, there for, it will remain closed for the next 72 hrs.
Here are more pics.

Thank You Ali for taking these pics.

Before i got married, my friend took me to this place, He was always trying to convince me to taste their ice creams, even if it just for one time. I went once and it sure wasnt the last During melcha, me and my wife, used to end up at Ice Cream World every time we went out. Sijjj sij latheeeth !

The place is small from the inside and doesnt have any tables or chairs to sit on and eat inside. so just park ur car and the waiter will come out to u and take your order.

They have many many flavors and most of them r fruits’ flavors. They really taste like fruit! oh and they have ice cream without any sugar too! (Hamad you came to mind when i saw them). What i usually order:
1 mango scoop and 1 banana scoop
my thanks goes to INM for taking the pics and Ali for telling me about this place.

Mishary was never a coffee fan, and I thought he won’t ever be, but i guess i was wrong.. Just the other day Mishary went (along with his wife, his brother and Me) and bought his first coffee machine. He bought a bigger machine than mine, it looks good and has some additional features. it also has a place to put the little coffee cups (or shots? what do they call them? liglasat liz’3ar malot ilgahwa!) and the machine keeps them warm too!
Here is a picture of the Machine

We went to the only branch in Kuwait, its located in SunCity in Shuwaikh (or 9un 9ity as some Kuwaitis like to pronounce it).. the branch is tiny but has a large variety of Machines and many accessories to go with them.

I was tempted to buy me some of the accessories like the capsules container (shown below)

The Nespresso employee was friendly and explained all about the machines and how to use them. He offered us some coffee samples and some chocolate afterwards (me and INM were very happy with the chocolates )

Mishary also wanted to buy the Aeroccino (coz the machine doesn’t have it built-in… IMO it is better to use a separate froth-maker than the ones built in, coz not only they do a better job, they’re easier to clean as well). but the froth maker was out of stock, so the guy offered to deliver it once they have it back in stock (great service)

It was one interesting ride from Dubai to Kuwait! it took us 11.5 hours to enter the Kuwaiti borders. my friend INM and me got up yesterday at around 5:50am, we both took quick showers and headed out. we were on the highway on our way to abu dhabi by 7:15.
we reached UAE-Saudi borders by 11 o’clock. the guys at the border were very nice and friendly, we passed with no problems whatsoever.. we were very happy and relieved, and then the saudi border appeared…. I hate them! the way they talk, the way they look at you and the way they went through our bags. we were told to get the bags out and lay them on the bench. he looked in the car, opened every drawer and looked under everything, then took a look inside each one of our bags and then said something..
INM: here is the passport, you go, i’ll wait in the car.
Me: where? what did he say?
INM: he said he wants you to take a look at your laptop.
Me: Reallly? when? I didn’t hear him say that?
INM: no he did, he wants to take a look at your laptop.
I went there with my laptop and entered his office. 2 guys were in there, one sitting at a computer checking the passports and stuff and the other guy is sleeping. I said my Salam’s but nobody responded, so I said SALAM ALAIKOM! i woke up the sleeping beauty.. he took one look at me and left the room.. another guy came and started asking me questions:
Officer: open up the laptop & go to search….. (he was gazing at my screen like he’s never seen one before in his life)
Me: ok…
(1 minute went by and he’s just gazing with no expression on his face)
Me: you know this isn’t windows *pointing to the screen*.. this is Macintosh..
Officer: yes yes i know.. this is not windows.. this is VISTA! i know..
(STUPID STUPID!!)
Me: no this is something else.. not windows… not Vista…..
Officer:……………….. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Officer: ok now tell me, what do you have in there?
Me: music, movies, some college projects…
Officer: no no lets be honest here, just tell me whats in there..
Me: as I said, i have music, lots of music files and some college related…
Officer: i want you to be honest
Me: I am being honest.. you won’t find what you’re looking for in my laptop
(he gave an awkward smile)
Officer: yakhoy latwakhethna a7na ma6loob minnnah ina infatesh.. bla bla bla
Me: no its ok, you’re doing your job.
Officer: you know what, just stay here for a while and then leave, lets pretend that I went through your laptop, but just don’t tell anybody.
Me: ok, sure, i won’t….. (we’ll see about that )
We entered Saudi Arabia and INM took over the wheel. we were expecting to get bored and exhausted but that didn’t happen (we slept like dead people when we got home ) but when were on the highway we were mostly happy.

INM didn’t want to eat anywhere (he is a bit picky… just a tiny bit), and i wanted to experience the cheap food.. you know the kind of food you eat when you’re with traveling with your friends.. the grilled chicken and saltless rice? those kind of nice cheap food? I wasn’t about to give up this part of the adventure! so we stopped at one of the restaurant that had “stomach ache” plastered all over it… 15 minutes later we were back on the highway and this time i’m back on the wheel.
2 hours later we were here

30 minutes later we were here

we reached kuwait just as the sun disappeared.. it was a very nice trip. thanks INM

We went to ALQasr Hotel in Dubai, we wanted to try new things! we’re tired from the same old same old cafes and restaurants. we went there and stayed in the lobby, I drank tea and my friend ordered their marshmallow Hot chocolate… they ran out of marshmallows, so he got none.. he he he..
Anyway, I took some pictures with my new Bayotiful camera, and I would really like your input. feel free to criticize and I’ll feel free to edit your criticism
So, Mishary… does this look familiar?

Aaand, this is my favorite

We went, me and loco, to an egyptian restaurant, Grand Abu Shaqra. its my first time in Dubai’s branch, I went many times with my family and friends to Egypt’s branch. I liked it back then and I was curious as to how good its gonna be in Dubai. I remember loving their béchamel sauce.

We ordered many things.. loco ordered lentil soup (he always order soup for starters.. i7ib i7is inahwa birmothan). we shared makarona bil béchamel (which was amazing!). and then we ordered the main dishes 2 white rice (shown above) and 2 tajins, molokhiya and bamya.
We liked it there (loco not so much). I liked the atmosphere (we sat out) and I liked the service. I would definitely go back there again

we were still in sheikh zayed’s road at 7:25, so obviously we weren’t going to catch the check-in’s dead line (7:30). I told my sister in law to call the airport just to check if there were any delays on their plane’s schedule.. we were desperate! and my brother prayed for their flight to get delayed by 1 hour. and what do you know!! his prayers got answered! their flight was indeed delayed until 9:30! which means their check-in’s dead line was also pushed an hour to 8:30!
We called the airport again to check if the check-in too was open for an extra hour, just in case, and they said YES. so, now that we can finally breath better and take our time, we thought of using the extra time to go for a quick dinner at The Noodle House in the emirates towers. that plan was immediately shot down by my brother, “we don’t have much time!” he said.. saj wallah! lol *i don’t know what we were thinking, I guess we were just so happy with the delay*
at 8 o’clock we were at the airport saying our goodbyes. I called loco on my way back and told him all about the deadlines and how it all worked out at the end. 20 minutes later I was very close to my apartment and then.. BANG! I got this sms from my brother “we missed the plane”. I immediately called him and it turned that although the plane’s departure time was pushed back for an hour, the checkin time stayed the same!! it stayed at 7:30! the guy in the Jazeeraairways said that they should’ve checked in by 7:30 no matter how many hours the plane gets delayed…. can you believe this? I mean what if it got pushed for 4 hours?? why on earth would I want to check in and then wait in the duty free for HOURS to board the plane? jazeera airways suck. BOYCOTT anyone?
anyway, I turned back and picked them up. we wanted to waste some time until their 2am flight (on emirates airways this time) so we ended up having dinner in The Noodle House afterall! 3ala ra’ey ilmasal, “God works in mysterious ways”

My brother and his wife are here for the weekend. I went out with them and we had dinner in Segreto, an italian restaurant in souk madinat jumeirah. the food was great! the service was nice but they were slow with the courses. they had to offer free “courtesy of the Chef” samples just to keep us from eating their heads off.
today my brother called me and told that he forgot his credit card in the restaurant! and the state of emergency began! I called the the restaurant many times and they assured me that they haven’t received any lost credit card. I even talked to our waiter and he too said that he’s sure there were no credit cards in the lost and found and that we took the card for sure.
the calls were non stop between me, my brother and the restaurant.. but when my brother called me the last time, he started talking about how he never really put the card back in his wallet after paying.. and that he called the NBK and deactivated the card…. I was tracing back my thoughts as he was talking and thinking about the things we were doing while he was signing the bill..
i remember looking at his signature.. I was standing… we were ready to go.. but he was looking at the bill… i was looking at the credit card….. I picked up the card… the card is in my hands… i slipped the card in my pocket….
. . . YALALHAAWL!!!
Instinctively I rammed my hand in the pocket.. and there it was.. the card was in my pocket the whole time!
