In our last Bahrain trip my friends wanted to experience swimming with the dolphins. We went to this place where they have dolphin shows and stuff. My friends took their swimsuits with them and I took my camera.

i-need-more-hours-in-the-day

I don’t know whats going on with me and my sleeping patterns. I have to, HAVE to, sleep atleast 2wice a week for over 12 hours. Meaning that I get back home after work, have lunch and then sleep till 6 am tomorrow morning! and this goes on every week. I only have 3 full weekdays.

I don’t feel like I’m missing out on activities or outings. Although missing my family’s gathering 3 times in a row is not something I’m proud of, I never miss a gathering.. but I don’t feel guilty! I just love going back from work to my bed and sleep for the rest of the day. I look forward to it, actually.

I heard it’s supposed to get better with time, as in I’m supposed to get used to it and start adjusting to the hideous timings of work..so far, I am not.

I went along with my friends to Bahrain this weekend. They planned a very quick getaway, just 1 night, we ended up having lots of fun and spending less than 23 hours in there… not even a full day in the country.

I think we’d live longer if we had rain once every 3 days in Kuwait*

So last week in the chalet I took some pictures of the flowers growing wildly right infront of our chalet and on the beach. The pictrues turned out nicely, imo, which got me thinking as I was editing the hell out of them.. What if it rained every 3 days in Kuwait for, say, 3 or 4 years.. what would happen? I think We’d live longer. But how?

I’ll tell you..

the-umm-al-aish-ruins-1

We were in Al Abdali for the new year’s and on our way back we stopped by Umm Al Aish for some pictures. It was very cold and windy over there, and we had to take a very bumpy and sandy road to reach the big dishes. We could’ve used the paved road but the thing is, we didn’t know it existed till after reaching the destination..

the-umm-al-aish-ruins-2

I read on this blog that: The Umm Al Aish station was built in 28-10-1969 and it was totally destructed by the Iraqis on 1990.

I’m annoyed at the fact that now, 19 years after the invasion, the government have decided to put an end to these beautiful buildings. They decided to tear them down and sell what is left of them. It’s like we can’t live without tearing all the old buildings in Kuwait down, like they’re doing this on purpose to take every little piece of history away from Kuwait.

the-umm-al-aish-ruins-3

Anyway.. We took many pictures and the place was totally worth it, so if you ever found yourself not too far from Umm Al Aish, you’ve got to check it out up-close.

I know every year by February’s end the truffles become available in Kuwait but this year we couldn’t resist so we decided to get the Algerian one which costs nowadays between 15-20 KD a Kilo. So today my dad decided to bring us a couple of kilos to be cooked for tomorrow’s lunch :)

fast-forward-to-3-months-from-now

I’ve had a job for just 2 days now and I think I won’t survive to see the weekend.. The waking up, the driving and the staying for almost 8 hours in the same place with a whole new set of new people to interact with is…. How did you do it?

The waking up isn’t the worst part of it, It’s the going to sleep and thinking “oh dear God I have to get up in less than 7 hours… 6 hours.. 4 and half..” that’s killing me.

Speaking of getting up. This morning I happened to get up and the first thing I hear is Hikayat 3alamiya’s theme song (I won’t go into the details) but Waking up to Asalah singing “fee qesaas esho3oooob” is not what I had in mind when they told me you’re gonna hate the getting-up part.. and definitely not the song I want stuck in my head and keep humming all day (which I did). fa yally ibaly.. I don’t want this to happen again. Kapish? :P

The other thing that makes me very #%@# is the fact that I’m new in the office and I know nothing about everything! I’m very new to all of this and I don’t like being out of the loop.. I hate this learning curve and seriously I want to start working. I don’t want to just keep reading stuff “to get an idea of the work flow.”

I think, hopefully, once I get to know what I’m supposed to do (which I will) and get the hang of it.. I’m gonna enjoy it (that’s what I’d like to believe). I just need to fast forward to 3 months from now.

Yes, Yousef wont be posting today because he will sign for his new job and become a new employee .. MABROOK Yousef wish you all the best :)

got-bold-blackberry

Been thinking of buying a mobile for a very long time now (proof), I was thinking of buying the new iphone so Mishary kindly lent me his 1st gen iPhone so I could try it out. I loved the iPhone, one of the best mobiles out there and there is nothing wrong with it.. except when you wanna write an sms while driving.. Coz there were a couple of times where I was on the verge of breaking the car’s window with my fist and throw the mobile infront of my car so I could run over it. It drove me crazy. But other than that, I loved the iphone :P

So anyway, My brother bought me the Bold as a birthday gift and I’m yet to put my sim in to try it out.

P.S. Mishary I’m gonna need your help. Expect one long phone call from me :P

angry-woman

1.Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4.Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

5.Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning nothing.)

6.That’s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here – This is true, unless she says ‘Thanks a lot’ – that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say ‘you’re welcome’ . that will brg on a ‘whatever’).

8.Whatever: Is a woman’s way of saying @*&^%$#!&

9.Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the woman’s respo nse refer to # 3.

And an an honorary mention of our own Kuwaiti word that parents used to say when we were young and needed their permission to do something. No good can come after hearing this word… the infamous… “Y9eer khair.”

Thanks M

Right after finishing from Prime and toast (previous post) I went to Soug wajif in almubarakiya. Soug wajif or Soug alhareem (Women’s market) is an old Kuwaiti soug where usually women would sit and sell traditional and women stuff.

Before going in I stood and took some pictures of the entry. This guy pictured above started hiding his face and asked me loudly not to photograph him. When I came closer I asked for the reason and he said “I don’t think my face is nice enough to be photographed.” I laughed and tried to convince him that there was nothing wrong with his face.. and we started talking. I asked him about the Soug and for how long he’s been working here.

Our friends decided it was time for them to get to know the sharks a little better, so they went to the scientific center’s aquarium, signed some release forms (stating that the center won’t be held responsible if anything goes wrong), put on their diving gears and then dove right in. Me & HKR were there to document the experience with our cameras, you know, incase something interesting happens…
