I went to the dentist yesterday. I was really expecting the worst. But before going into that I just want to say something OT. The security didn’t let me in at first and told me the Mall is for families only. He didn’t let me in till I told him repeatedly that I have doctor’s appointment. And I was very angry when I saw a girl walking outta the mall all by herself with no husband and no parents! Now let me ask you this, since when a girl all by herself is considered a family? and when its a guy he’s considered what? a threat!? Its a stupid rule enforced by stupid people, agreed on by even stupider people leading ultimately to the stupidification of society in general.

He let me in eventually.

I went in, there was a bunch of girls there with burqas sitting in a cafe looking and smiling at the guys near them. other girls with burqas swaying around the mall followed with admiring gazes. another crowd near the cafe with a girl who just passed out. I think her friends thought she suddenly fell asleep, coz all they did was tap her face frantically and call her name, then they pulled her from her hands lol and dragged her out of people’s way. sorry, but it was hilarious.

Anyway. I went to the clinic and waited for less than 10 minutes. The doctor was very friendly and almost a human. I told him that I want my 4 wisdom teeth taken out and a real thorough check up. He took a look in and then said “the wisdom teeth can wait. there are other teeth i’m more concerned about.” yalahwy!

Since there were lots of things that needed attention, we decided to start fixin’ the teeth based on priority. He started with the fillings. and did a real good job so far. He said we need a very concentrated schedule for the next 3 weeks.

Things that surprised me (keep in mind that it was over 10 years since my last dentist encounter):

- for the x rays all he did was stick a piece of rubber in my mouth and point a hose-like object at my cheek and =click= we were done! I remember a simpler times when we had to go to the other room and wear bullet proof vests in order to do the x rays.

-When he said the word anesthesia. something in my mind went “SAY SOMETHING!” and I found myself smiling at the doctor and blabbering some words i don’t understand. The doctor then assured me that i won’t feel a thing. He took a Q-tip, put some pink gel on it and rubbed it near my tooth, a minute later that place near my tooth was numb, so when he injected me with that awfully big needle, I didn’t feel a thing. no pain whatsoever.

-A big hole was dug in my tooth and a big filling was put in and I didn’t feel a thing and I was able to drink and eat afterwards with no troubles at all. (see previous post ) Mashallah.

Overall, I was really glad that dentistry have advanced lol I was expecting a real pain and a very bleak experience…. But then again, I think I shouldn’t be all joyous and celebratory, I haven’t really gotten my wisdom teeth out, yet.

I guess I was a bit too hungry

Moral of the post: always check the amount before you enter your pin number.

I’m off to the dentist in 2 hours. I have 4 wisdom teeth to get removed and countless others to be treated. Aside from the time I got braces, I haven’t been in a dentist in well over 10 years. Wish me luck!

Why are USWS trying their best to do a bad job?! today i found one more thing to add to their list of flaws. 9K2HN told me the other day that something was up with USWS’ exchange rates, so today when I was paying my bill I noticed my bill was $41 and when converted by them it was KD12.71.

I did the calculations and it turned out they’re using a rate of 0.31 for all of their exchanges!! Guys the exchange rate nowadays is 0.261! (check the pic above USD1 = KD0.261) waain ga3deeen?! mo chethy ashkara 3ad!

Its the port number! Change the port number!

I called Zain many times even went to their branches and talked to lots of sales agents and their technical support department.. All with no luck of finding a solution to the not being able to receive emails through email clients (Outlook, Mail…etc) problem.

This weekend when we were talking about this problem, Hamad told me something about changing the port, then Khalid told me that he’s been using Ego with no such problem, He also said something about the port number. Finally he gave me the port number he’s been using and.. just like that.. it worked!

My Gmail, Mac and personal domain all worked with outgoing server port #587.

Walla after i read his comment i went directly to Smtp2go.com and registered with them and its WORKING NOW! The registration process takes only secs.

“Kuwait is in a 5 electoral districts marathon for the first time nowadays. It’ll be interesting to see who’ll succeed in lying his way to the chair. The ones who reach the end of this marathon are more often than not aren’t the real winners in our eyes. Most of them are going to dedicate their time to polish their new chairs and use their newly found powers to their own personal gains, getting back what they lost on the elections being #1 on their lists. This election is going to cost a lot, because as you know, paying people in cash is out of fashion this time around, now its all about renovating poor people’s homes, which costs a lot.

Aren’t you people tired of the irony? Claiming that Kuwait’s interest is your main objective then going for whoever promise you to drop the loans and increase your salaries? don’t you know its things like that that keeps your country in its steady fall? These MPs and their ways of manipulating people’s feelings! They’re like a low fat product that has no nutritional value and cause cancer in the long run. We don’t need them. There is no good coming out of them, actually its quite the opposite! they’re in it for the goods!

I have many examples, but for the sake of not creating much controversy, I won’t mention the names, just their actions.

He’s very religious and preaches religion & ethics whenever he can. till last week I saw him on TV preaching. But what some of you might not know is that in one of his many journeys out of the country, God wanted to blow his cover, He was caught drunk in a car accident. Our good government have threatened him and black mailed him so he stays on their side. He’s a good friend with the government ever since.

A guy who is responsible for over looking the “negative phenomena committee” (whatever that means) had a sad turn of events when every news paper in town reported his visit to a nudist beach. (Y’all know him right?)

One of our Islamic MPs was seen in a casino in Las Vegas, wearing a t-shirt and a short and gambling. when he was asked about his behavior He said something along those lines “My look differs according to what I’m doing and the place I’m in.”

We need Fresh, New, bright-looking and beardless faces! We need them with long dishdashas too! no more fakers! no more pretense and using Islam in vain! We don’t want MPs who ride waves and trends for the sake of popularity. We need them to be real, so they can see things as they are and actually do something about them and make the progress their supposed to make. We want a solid and deep vision of what should be done to accomplish some of the goals we’re hoping for. And more importantly We want them to dedicate themselves for the good of NO ONE but Kuwait“.

My brother ordered a laptop for a friend. This friend made his debut to online buying with this laptop purchase. Its his very first time..

This is how the story goes.. Our friend wanted to buy the newly released White Macbook with a 2.4 processor & 2 GB RAM. My brother (6ag issadir) and helped him order, using my DHL address. 12 days later the laptop arrived and our friend went to the customs to pick it up (He payed 65kd to the DHL, 57 for the delivery and 8kd for the requested insurance) Anyway! He took it and started playing around with it.. a day or 2 later and as he was looking around, he decided to take a look at the device specs.. he went to that little Apple icon on top and clicked on About This Mac.

I got a call from my brother saying there was a mistake with the order! We ordered and paid for the 2.4 and got the 2.1 instead!!

After much investigation and contemplating my brother stumbled upon the 2 stickers shown above. Turned out there was a mistake from Amazon.com’s side when placing these 2 stickers. One of the stickers states that this is a 2.1 Macbook and the other says its the newer (more expensive) 2.4 Macbook!

We, and by we I mean my brother, have already sent an email to Amazon and are waiting their reply!

This is not their first time messing up our orders. I remember once Me, Mishary & INM were shocked to find boring books in the package instead of the DVDs we’ve ordered.

When I first got married, about a year ago, I went to the Gulf Bank and asked them about getting an extra card for my K-Net account so that i can give it to my wife just in case anything happens. Their answer was NO! its not possible. I even took it the to the branch manager there and asked him, his answer was “even if I accept ur request the system will auto refuse and cancel it!”

I went back home and forgot about it. After a few months i noticed that my Card’s letters & number were unidentifiable so i decided to go to the bank and ask them to get a new card. They wanted me to give them the old one so they can proceed with the request, I suggested that I keep mine until I get the new one.

Anyway, they agreed. After a few days they called and told me to come and collect my new card, so, I went there to get it…. they did NOT ask about my old one…. Aaaaaand Guess what!?!? BOTH cards now are working! So much for the system auto refusing my card!!!

I’m sick again the 3rd time in less than 50 days. The first time i got sick i was like, yeah, maybe its weather changes and me traveling back to Kuwait from Dubai.. you know how it is when you travel? But then when i got sick the second time, only 3 weeks after i got better, i thought, hmm maybe i should get a doctor’s opinion? a real “ear, nose and throat” doctor. but as the days went by, and the antibiotics kicking in, it all seemed nice and dandy again.. why go to a doctor?

Who thinks of going to the doctor when there are no immediate pain?

But 3 days ago, less than a week from concluding my sickness with my 2nd antibiotics course, it came back, that damn virus mutant thing came back!!!

Anyway, I’m going to a real doctor on sunday, i got an appointment. and I’m gonna end this tonsils thing once and for all.

Its weird when you get sick and one of your friends get really mad coz you can’t go out with him.. I told him I’m sick and can’t even get out of bed, yet he’s so angry and think I’m not giving a good enough excuse… I’m sure he’s reading this now.

I just got off the phone with NBK. they cancelled my Visa card coz “I have no stable source of income.” I don’t blame them, its the central bank’s rules (i used the word central twice in one day.. Yipppeee!). Anway, I began thinking of all the lovely times i spent with my credit card.. when it hit me!! I have money in there! a week or so ago i wanted to buy my laptop off apple.com so I went and put 800 kd in my credit card. and now its cancelled! Grrr

The guy from NBK put me on hold for a total time of 10 minutes and finally came back to tell me that I should go to my branch, take a credit card statement then go to NBK’s main branch, give them the statement and ask for a refund “it should take around 3 days from the day you ask for the refund.” And i should do all that on sunday coz they’re closed for the holiday today & the whole weekend.

I’m hating NBK at the moment.

You know how most of the time when you’re faced with a problem with a device you own, you start going through your manuals and online FAQs but your problem is no where to be found? It happens to me a lot.

It was just another day in one of Kuwait’s busiest hospitals. A woman came in with her 12 year old kid to see the Doctor. The kid’s been sick for 4 days the woman explained. She went on to say that He suffers from headache, Fever, Dizzy, Vomits a lot and has photophobia (can’t tolerate bright light).

The Doctor knew these symptoms, they were the symptoms of meningitis (sa7aya). He knew that the kid should remain in the hospital for further testings immediately.

Doctor: Look, I think your kid is suffering from meningitis. its a very serious disease and he should remain in the hospital so we can do some testings to identify, confirm and start treating the disease.
Mother: aha.. ok we’ll pass by tomorrow.

The Doctor got puzzled with the Mother’s cold reaction. He thought if he took her to another room, sat her down and talked to her enough, she might realize the magnitude of her child’s disease. So he did.

Doctor: You don’t understand. This is serious. We need to take blood samples, do lumbar puncture to extract some spinal fluids.. we’re also going to give him antibiotics through intravenous drip.
Mother: But maybe this is just an allergy and nothing serious.. we have a cat in the house and maybe.. you know..
Doctor: Are you listening to what I’m saying at all? I’m telling you this is not as simple as you might be thinking! He might suffer from several disabilities! He might get paralyzed! or even go into a comma before you know it! Not to mention that its contagious. You’re risking other people’s lives if you don’t let us begin treating him NOW. you’re risking too much, he actually might die!

The Mother looked at her kid

Kid: But Mom you promised me a breakfast in Marina Mall tomorrow!!!
Mother: Doctor, I can’t leave him today, we have a breakfast planned for tomorrow’s morning.. You know what, We might come back tomorrow in the afternoon

The Doctor lost it

Doctor: Are you stupid? You must be stupid! Slow maybe?? I’m telling you your kid might die!!

Mother got offended and defensive.

Doctor: OK I don’t care! *bi6agag isheelkom* But I won’t be held responsible if anything happens to your kid because of your stupid and careless actions! you’ll sign a form right now stating that you went against the doctor’s orders..

The Mother without any hesitation signed the form, took her kid and went back home.

I’m sick again. Not more than a month ago I was sick with inflamed tonsils (lowaz), fever and a flu. and now, its all back again with a vengeance.

I’m not answering my phone since yesterday coz i’m having difficulty speaking. so I’ve been sending sms’s after each miscall saying “i can’t talk coz i’m sick and my tonsils (bal3eemy warma) are inflamed at the moment. we talk later”

As weird as it may sound, i find whoever calls me after reading that sms is weirder! I mean, I told you I can’t answer! why are you calling me back?? what should I do to get through to you

I know! I should either come after you (when I get better inshallah) and hunt you down OR I pray that a wall falls and You just happen to be under it.

Remember the coconut I bought the other day? I posted about it? Today i decided to cut it open by myself. (Rajoo used to cut it for me before) so, I went to the kitchen, took my “sa6oor” (a big knife) i don’t know it’s name in English and I started hammering it, and kept hammering, hammering and hammering! For about 10 mins!

THE RESULT:NOTHING CHANGED!!
