After moving our blog to WordPress.org now me and Yousef have the full advantage of our blog, so now we’re thinking of redesigning our blog in a professional way (we don’t like these downloadable themes) we want our blog to reflect our personality, So does anyone know a good company/person that do these graphical designs? and one more thing guys we want from you to gives us some ideas?!

I used my wide angle lens again, I took this picture of the church (completed in 1272) while holding the camera well below my knees just to be able to capture the whole church, and I still managed to miss the top cross. oh well.

Now, photography gurus, I have a question for you, I can’t get the fuzziness out of the trees, and any moving object for that matter. I tried to sharpen the image, did the smart sharpen thingy but it didn’t help. Any advice? and yeah I’m asking coz I’m using HDR without a tripod. :D

:D

Today we were discussing this issue in my father’s in law house, yes how come our airport got a duty free shops and our country doesn’t apply taxes?! i went to Wikipedia and double checked “Duty free” definition and came out with this:

Duty Free shops: Duty-free shops (or stores) are retail outlets that do not apply local or national taxes and duties.

Can anyone clarify this to me?!

i was reading Al-qabas news paper and found out that M.O.C is trying to ban Skype in Kuwait .. So i went to my phone and did some calls to the US but it’s still working! Has anyone any problem with his Skype account?!

SOURCE

We were at the barber today and I told my cousin about Skype and how we can use the software to talk to each others while I’m away through audio chat and how its a good software for chatting…etc. Then someone there told my cousin that they sell skype credits in Alshamiya Co-op. For those of you who use this program but can’t buy credits online coz of their credit cards not being american issued, this info could really be helpful, if proved to be true. He said just go to Alshamiya co-op and ask for the skype cards and they’ll tell you where to find em.

Can anyone confirm this info? And can Skype credits be bought anywhere else in Kuwait?

Its in Hawally near alqadsiya stadium.

UPDATE:

It’s the new Sultan Center.

Yesterday me & my wife went to A’ayan to get a new car for our driver, our priorities are the following:

  • Rental car (coz we want a full insured car plus free service)
  • Economic car.
  • Small to medium size.
  • looks pretty (My wife’s priority :) )

So we ended up with these two models:

Nissan Altima

initial deposit: KD300

Monthly payments: KD130

Honda Accord

Initial deposit: KD350

Monthly payments: KD135

Since i don’t have any experience before with Honda and Nissan i would like to ask you guys which one should I go for?

We went to Nino and ordered 2 of their certified angus beef, and we asked for a medium cook. we got 2 well done steaks instead. My friend started eating his and I returned mine. after waiting 10 more minutes I got a rare steak.. so I sent it back again. My friend was half way through his steak when they finally brought my medium cooked steak.

Things I don’t understand:

1- Why do restaurants always hear welldone when I say medium?
2- Why do restaurants punish customers who return steaks?
3- why did my friend eat his well done steak when his original order was a medium steak?
4- if it doesn’t really matter what kind of steak he ends up eating, why then did he specify?
5- How come I return my dish twice and end up eating after my friend’s done eating and get nothing more than a little lame apology from the waiter?
6- Why are people considered difficult when they refuse to eat things they did not order?

If we all became indifferent to what kind of steaks we end up eating then the whole steak-cooking system would become obsolete! I won’t let that happen! :P

Mustafa mentioned this new service in his comment on my ‘Aramex: Shop & Wait’ post and I’d like to share the comment with you guys.

His comment:

“Everyone… I found a solution! and you don’t have to leave ARAMEX.
I just subscribed to The American Concierge, they do almost anything for overseas customers, ANYTHING… They charge you a monthly membership, but believe me it’s worth it, you get your money back in no time. they even hand delivered my package to ARAMEX in NY and gave me a tracking number right away.
so far..so good”

Excerpt from their site:

At The American Concierge … almost anything you need in the US can be done through us.
As a brand new company, your subscription cost is just $89.99 a month which allows you up to 10 personal requests.

For the first year, we offer services to any country in the world, saving you money on customs and other transport fees.

We work with all courier services: FEDEX, USPS, UPS, DHL, ARAMEX, etc…

I for one don’t think I’ll need anything that would justify that price tag since most of the things I need I can easily get off amazon. Rarely do I need anything from somewhere else. But If anyone knows anything or have subscribed to this service, please tell us more about it.

どうしてそんなに好奇心旺盛ですか? :D

Just got sms telling that he passed away, any one can confirm it?

UPDATE:

Om FasoOoL among others have said that its just a rumor.

Edited By Yousef

I called someone who works there and he said up to now its just a rumor and if anything happens He’ll inform me. Abdulkareem, may he recover soon, has been sick for a while now and been in the hospital in the ICU for over a week. He’s suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease. its a chronic illness that leads to respiratory failure, which basically is a lung failure.

I went to the dentist yesterday. I was really expecting the worst. But before going into that I just want to say something OT. The security didn’t let me in at first and told me the Mall is for families only. He didn’t let me in till I told him repeatedly that I have doctor’s appointment. And I was very angry when I saw a girl walking outta the mall all by herself with no husband and no parents! Now let me ask you this, since when a girl all by herself is considered a family? and when its a guy he’s considered what? a threat!? Its a stupid rule enforced by stupid people, agreed on by even stupider people leading ultimately to the stupidification of society in general.

He let me in eventually.

I went in, there was a bunch of girls there with burqas sitting in a cafe looking and smiling at the guys near them. other girls with burqas swaying around the mall followed with admiring gazes. another crowd near the cafe with a girl who just passed out. I think her friends thought she suddenly fell asleep, coz all they did was tap her face frantically and call her name, then they pulled her from her hands lol and dragged her out of people’s way. sorry, but it was hilarious.

Anyway. I went to the clinic and waited for less than 10 minutes. The doctor was very friendly and almost a human. I told him that I want my 4 wisdom teeth taken out and a real thorough check up. He took a look in and then said “the wisdom teeth can wait. there are other teeth i’m more concerned about.” yalahwy!

Since there were lots of things that needed attention, we decided to start fixin’ the teeth based on priority. He started with the fillings. and did a real good job so far. He said we need a very concentrated schedule for the next 3 weeks. :D

Things that surprised me (keep in mind that it was over 10 years since my last dentist encounter):

- for the x rays all he did was stick a piece of rubber in my mouth and point a hose-like object at my cheek and =click= we were done! I remember a simpler times when we had to go to the other room and wear bullet proof vests in order to do the x rays.

-When he said the word anesthesia. something in my mind went “SAY SOMETHING!” and I found myself smiling at the doctor and blabbering some words i don’t understand. The doctor then assured me that i won’t feel a thing. He took a Q-tip, put some pink gel on it and rubbed it near my tooth, a minute later that place near my tooth was numb, so when he injected me with that awfully big needle, I didn’t feel a thing. no pain whatsoever.

-A big hole was dug in my tooth and a big filling was put in and I didn’t feel a thing and I was able to drink and eat afterwards with no troubles at all. (see previous post :P ) Mashallah.

Overall, I was really glad that dentistry have advanced lol I was expecting a real pain and a very bleak experience…. But then again, I think I shouldn’t be all joyous and celebratory, I haven’t really gotten my wisdom teeth out, yet.

Today i got this picture from a friend, do you notice anything unusual? :P Yeah they took the dowaniya to the roof! so that it wont be considered a violation by the government (ta3adeyat) wallah ya3jebony ely efakroon chethy! :) I bet he didnt think twice if the building can handle it or not.. Just a silly question what if the building couldn’t handle it? chethy 3adey bas emoot ely dakhel?!

Can you solve it?

you’ll be given the numbers: 3,7,15 and 31. You should arrange them in a way so that all the blue boxes have the #56 as a result.

I did it in less than 10 minutes (I spent over 15 minutes searching for cheats with no luck, then I started ). They’re saying it should be solved in less than 5. :P

I bet that whoever designed this stove never used one in his life.

I was in the belajat street with my wife the other day and I noticed some new kind of traffic lights with 3 reds in them and they flash continuously. When I got a bit closer I read a sign nearby that says something like “if you see the flashing lights you should come to a complete stop! coz it means either the Amir is coming in or getting out of his house. They are located in front of the dar salwa palace.

And today i got a phone call from Ali saying the same thing, plus, now they are adding some kind of a bridge (I don’t know what to call it) with some sensors or cameras, I’m not sure what’s their purpose. Ali said that these little bridges are being constructed in Fahahel high way. Any one knows what are these thing for?

Thank you Ali.

Now guess! :P

I got this from 9K2HN .. So lets begin and see if any one can solve it?! (i know our readers are SO SMART mashalah) :P

One day there was a man going to work and The main gate required him to enter a passcode, a 5 digits passcode, The problem is that he forgot those 5 digits.. but he knows that there is some kind of a relation between the numbers. So lets begin with the hints.

The numbers should be entered as follows:

X1 – X2 – X3 – X4 – X5

Now here is the hints to solve it:

  • X5 + X3 = 14.
  • X4 = X2+1.
  • X1= X2 + X2 – 1.
  • X2 + X3 = 10.
  • X1 + X2 + X3 + X4 + X5= 30.

The first one to get the numbers will get his name posted in here (what a reward huh?) :P

Thanks 9K2HN

SOLVED!

Less than 20 mins. from posting it K.TheKuwaiti solved it mashalah.

Here are the results:

X1: 7
X2: 4
X3: 6
X4: 5
X5: 8
