Since i got married my internet shopping habbit increased by 400%. Me and my wife order from everything from socks to earrings! Kel shay kel shay! Walah walahnaa 3alla ghorfat el tabdeeel bel ma7alat! So we faced a problem in the past 1.5 year that whenever any site asks us to contact them by phone (and most of them provice 1-800-xxx-xxxx contact number) the problem with these numbers is that you can’t call them from outside the US. So the ONLY solution is Skype, Yes from skype you can call 1-800 even if you are out side the US.

dsc00511.jpg

So i went directly to Amazon and ordered Linksys iPhone.

dsc00512.jpg

Whats in the Box:

  • Base station.
  • iPhone head set.
  • 2 chargers “1 for the head set and one for base station”.
  • Ethernet cable.
  • Manual.
  • Head set battery.
  • Land line cable.

Now let me go through their Pros and Cons:

Pros.

  • It capable of holding the land line and Skype simultaneously.
  • The head set base is separated from the base station.
  • NOW i can call Apple and Amazon by simple touches! “walla fashla takhayelaw aloo gowa amazon!!!” :P .

Cons.

  • Low quality build material.
  • The two chargers designed for the US electricity, So you need an adapter to run them in Kuwait.

Final Score 3 out 5 “Due to low build quality & lack of multi voltage chargers.
Thanks to the biggest skype fan, 9K2HN, for telling me about it.

This post will be dedicated to girls and married girls may be more interested. Today my wife ordered a collection of perfumes designed especially for bed covers and linens.

dsc00518.jpg

The cool part of this is, you can choose any favorite perfume you like such as M7, Coco Chanel, Stella, Cinema..ect. and transfer it to these kind of perfumes.

dsc00520.jpg

They have a long list of famous perfumes you can choose from. They even make a high-concentration perfumes “Eau de parfum“, even body lotions, if you wish.

My wife let me smell them and esara7a they were like the REAL ones! and when it comes to the price, I think they’re very reasonably priced, each one will cost you KD1.5 and there will be an extra KD2 for delivery.

Finally if you wish to order just call 6618520.

Anise, A newly opened Restaurant in Dubai’s Intercontinental Hotel in Festival City.

Me and loco went to this beautifully designed restaurant a few days ago. its a multinational buffet kind of restaurant where there are multiple live stations cooking food live & per request. Unfortunately I couldn’t take pictures of the main dish(s) coz we were too hungry to be bothered. I’m gonna let the pictures do the talking now :)

Yesterday after we finished dinner 9K2HN suggested to try avocado juice, i was like… WHAT!? Avocado juice? (yes, i’m kinda picky. but compared to INM i’m a vacuum! Coz he’s EXTREMELY picky!) Back to topic :P

dsc00482.jpg

So after we went there he ordered and i gave it a try. Simply, its DELICIOUS! mashalah its kinda thick i cant imagine its a Natural fruit/vegetable (wait a sec.. is it a vegetable or a fruit?) walla madry bas it tastes good.

dsc00492.jpg

The place is so tiny, and its located in Kaifan Co-op, next to Mr. Baker.

dsc00495.jpg

They have a new way to cover the top of the plastic cup, They cover it with this skinny transparent nylon tissue.

The shop has a web site but its under construction. if you want to check it out click HERE.

Score will be 4 out 5.

Thanks 9K2HN (Now i can eat Hearts PLUS Avocado juice) :P

stage-beg.jpg

We were there by the shuttle buses location around 5:30pm and in less than a minute we were on the bus and on our way to the concert venue. everybody was excited and brought their picnic carpets and little cushions. Me & loco went with just our tickets in hand. the shuttle took 5 minutes and we were there. the place didn’t look crowded, actually it looked empty! it didn’t fill up until the last 5 minutes.

beg-audience.jpg

As we entered, we noticed lots of people carrying their cameras and no one was stopping them. so loco volunteered to go and bring my camera from the car. and I promised him to keep an eye on his little spot on the grass until he comes back. he went on a bus back to the parking area, lost the tickets, got yelled at by the bus driver and lost 3 kilos from a very long walk. meanwhile, i was being mocked and yelled at by a lebanese witch. she came with her husband and wanted to spread their carpet on loco’s spot!

i just said: my friend is sitting here, he’s coming back.
Husband: he’s gonna take this whole place?! this whole place?!
Me: No, just this spot *points to the spot near me*
Husband: ALL of this spot?! all of it?!
Me: NO NO JUST THIS LITTLE 0.5 meter by 0.5 meter!
Witch: so your friend is going to sit next to You RIGHT?
Me: YES.
*the witch fell to her knees, almost breaking mine, and sat EXTREMELY close to me and said*
Witch: so this is how your friend is going to sit??? *and then looked at her husband* OK, now spread the rug next to me! *looks at me* ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?
Me: isloobich raw3a.
Witch: *gave me a patronizing look and looked away*

I couldn’t say a word. i was really angry, but i could say anything, which made me even more angry.

less than 10 mintues later, her husband went away, called her on the phone and she started packing and then left. just before going away, she said “you can have this whole place for yourself now!”

loco came back 45 minutes later with the camera! hurraaay!

celine4.jpg

we waited until 8:20. The crowd stood up and were pushing us against the barrier when some lights and smokes were flashing on stage. by 8:30 Celine appeard! just on time :)

The concert started with a little clip. then she bursted into “I drove all night.” it was a nice song to start up the concert. she was amazing as ever!

The Setlist:

I drove all night
The Power Of Love
Taking Chances
Its all coming back to me now
To love You More
Because You Loved Me
I’m Your Angel (with her background singer)
Eyes On Me
Alone
We Will Rock You
The Show Must Go On
All By Myself
Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore
Its a Man’s world
Love Can Move Mountains

And some other Covers and songs from her catalog.

celine1.jpg

She rocked each and every song and gave it her all. It was all great. The Audience was into her and her songs. She said “Ana Ahebbak” and “Shokran.” She took a moment to thank us, and told us how a great an audience we are. She also talked a bit about Dubai, and that she’s been here for 3 days and already know why everybody talks about Dubai. “its the city of tomorrow, its the city of the future” she said.

celine5.jpg

She sang a song and then said her goodbyes and left. The audience were still not satisfied and some were angry she didn’t sing my hear will go on “The Titanic Song.” loco looked at me with an :o face, and I said “she’ll come back for an encore.” and She did! :D she came back and sang The “Titanic Song.”

celine6.jpg

It was an amazing night. lots of pushing, shoving and witches, but totally worth it.

dhls-home-service1.jpg

Mishary Posted the other day about DHL’s @ Home Service. So, I went yesterday and signed up in DHL’s new service. They’re open from 9am till 6pm. I went around 2 o’clock and was greeted by the one and only, Ms Sarita (early members of Aramex’s shop and ship will know her very well). She was as friendly and as efficient as ever. She recognized me and said “you gained weight haven’t you?” at first I thought she was talking about herself so I replied “No! you look better than ever!” later I realized the comments was directed at me! err…

Ok, so She started by saying “I don’t want to over sell the service we have here, coz its really knew and we’re still working on lot of things.”

Pros:

1)You have Sarita working there.
2)Just like aramex it costs 2.5kd for the first 1/2 kilo and then 2kd for each additional 1/2 kilos.
3)The Mailbox is located in Illinois, so you can save lots on tax money (macbook pro’s tax is $240 if delivered to Aramex’s newyork address. and only $140 when delivered to illinois).
4)4 days delivery from the US to your address in Kuwait.
5)I like that its DHL. they’ve got to be worried about their reputation, so the chances of them screwing up are much less than the other services.
6)You have an optional 2% insurance. it covers the whole amount. so If you ever receive a damaged package, you can get your full money back. no matter how large the amount is.

Cons:
1)Its still a pretty new service, so there are lots of missing options (like tracking ur package) but She, Sarita, told me I can call her whenever I want to know the status of the shipment. and she’ll call whenever it arrives.
2)They charge on either, the package’s weight or its volume whichever is the highest. (a guy ordered light plane model and is being charged a big sum of money because of the size of the package).

I just love dealing with Sarita. thats why I think this new service is going to Rock!

PS. there is a one time 10kd fee when you sign up.

Yousef wrote about this McDonald’s new offering in his post around a week ago. Today i found out that it’s now available here in Mishref’s branch, so I decided to check it out and let you know more about it. It costs 400 fils/piece and just like Dubai’s, It comes with 3 different types of sauces: Garlic & Mayo sauce, Sweet Chili sauce And Barbecue sauce.

dsc00477.jpg

Now when it comes to how it tasted, let me just say that I expected it to taste something like their chicken nuggets, i mean something special atleast, But I was disappointed to say the least. Its just a regular chicken fillet without any special touches.

I give it 2 out of 5 It wasn’t special at all!

p010308_2110.jpg

Humm… What can i say about this restaurant? Ok lets begin, i’ve been in love with this restaurant for almost 7 years, Usually i go to this restaurants with my friends Ali & Abdullah “because they introduced me to this 7 years ago” its a tiny place with only 4 plastic tables and each table will hold 2-3 as maximum chairs.

p010308_2041.jpg

The appetizers are the following:

- Iranian Bread.

- Lemon, cucumber, fresh onion and tomato.

- Homos “they only serve homos” no for motabal.

p010308_204311.jpg

As for the grilles they serve:

- Tekka.

- Kabab.

- Hearts ” Yes now i can eat them! thanx for my brothers in law specially 9K2HN”.

- Sheesh tawooq.

Finally, its easily takes 5/5 because of very very very quick service moreover for their low prices .. takhayelaw each “seekh” will cost you 100 fils o 3alaik le7sab :)

My thanks goes this time for both of you Ali & Abdullah

UPDATE:

I got couple of emails telling me to add the address So here is it:

Its in Hawali behind Al Negra complex and their number is: 2659620

wrapstar.jpg

I was hungry and the guy from KFC told me why not try their new wrap sandwich. I foolishly fell for it.

Its a star shaped wrap sandwich. It tasted like chicken, twister sauce, marinara sauce, beans (don’t ask), lots of cheese, tortilla chips… lots of flavors came together to form this disgusting sandwich. Oh and it was soggy too! Just the way I like it :x

Today me & Yousef decided to add a new section to the blog to contain all of our reviews. Its up there on top, can you see it? if you can’t, no worries, we have it all figured out! Click Here For easy access. But hey, you gotta learn where it is coz this post won’t be on the front page for long. :P

noodles-logo.jpg

I was introduced to The Noodle House and the chinese food in general about 3 and half years ago. My friends and roommates were regulars in this restaurant for ages before i came along. I love this restaurant and rate every other chinese restaurant based on how the food tastes in comparison. I know its not a good way to rate other restaurants, coz simply, they don’t stand a chance.

jumeirahs-noodles.jpg

The restaurant is owned by Jumeirah International (which is owned by Dubai’s government), This alone gives it an edge an make it so far ahead of all of the other restaurants in Dubai. With a reputation like Jumeriah’s you’re gonna know it’ll be in every special and unique place, with the best decor and interior designs along with the best service in town.

The food quality is, as you may already sensed, is the best i’ve tried so far. The presentation is simple and elegant. They don’t have as many dishes as Peacock in Kuwait, but thats an advantage in my opinion, coz peacock’s menu never cease to confuse me. They have so many dishes which makes me not know exactly what i would like to order. I mean look at their chicken dishes, they have tons! IMO, If a restaurant doesn’t have standout dishes, they’re gonna offer whatever they can to compensate (but thats only my opinion peacock’s fans :P )

noodles-startes2.jpg

noodles-starters.jpg

Dishes I like in The Noodle House:

Starters:
-Vegetable Spring rolls.
-Sesame prawns on toast.
-Prawn Bags

Main Dishes:
-Bakmi Goreng Noodles with shrimp & chicken (i always ask them to take out the shrimps)
-Chicken Sweet & Sour (unlike any other S&S dish i’ve tried)
-Thai Chicken with cashew nuts
-Roasted Duck (my favorite dish in this whole wide woyyd :D )
-Nonya Chicken Curry (they promised to bring it back to their menu soon)

They also have plenty of drinks and cocktails, but I never try them, I only order diet coke when I’m there. Yeah and its interesting to note that they offer both Pepsi’s products and Coke’s!

Easily 5 out of 5.

I was looking around for hotel rooms in Dubai in the range of $300 a night. and it seemed as though I’ve asked for something out of the ordinary! Even when I called the travel agency the guy almost didn’t take me seriously. I checked expedia for hotels’ rates and got shocked! Rooms are going for $500 and $850 a night?! regular rooms not suites! This means If I stayed for the 5 days, I would’ve spent 2 Macbooks worth of money! :P

I lived in this country for so long and asked for rates so many times for friends and relatives, but never really thought about the prices. Prices are very real when I’m the one on the spending end! lol

Anyway, finally the travel agency found me this nice new hotel. Copthorne Hotel, Located near Deira City Center, over looking Dubai’s Creek. the hotel is part of Millennium Hotels group.

This is My room (Booked a junior suite coz all the rooms were gone)

copthorne-bedroom.jpg

This is the sitting area (not allowed to sit in the bedroom.. gotta follow the rules)

coprthorne-sitting.jpg

The pool area

copthorne-pool.jpg

Overall, and up to now, For 80Kd per night, I think it was an excellent choice and (Father’s) money well spent. The staff are friendly and attentive. Spacious rooms. Big Plasma screens and free high-speed internet.

I give them 4/5. I would’ve given them a better rating if it wasn’t for the Hotel’s ugly exterior and lobby.

Yesterday me & my wife decided to go to Al-Koot Mall, Actually we prefer it because we find it less crowded than the other Malls. After we finished shopping i got a phone call from Abdullah telling me to try MUGG & BEAN Restaurant. He said that this restaurant specialized in sizing! every thing is SUPER SIZED, even if ur ordering a Hot Chocolate or Cappuccino there is a free refill! So, Naturally, We hopped on the idea and decided to give it a try.

mb2.jpg

As you can see above there are few tables inside the restaurant (its a little bit tiny inside) so we decided to sit outside. We ordered the Chicken Ceaser Salad and for the main course mix grills, The Salad was HUGE! HUGE! and very rich in chicken and bacon and ceaser sauce. Actually, its just a mix of chicken and bacon! (sij estaghrabt laish emsamenhaaa sala6a aslaan!!) But it was delicious esara7a I liked it. We really liked the starters, but the main course not so much, nothing special at all.

Its located on Sultan Center’s side, the opposite side of Paul Cafe.

I give it 3.5/5

Today Me & my family decided to have our lunch at Sarai restaurant. It’s a combination of Syrian, Armenian and Turkish food. The word Sarai is from turkish origins and means The Castle (According the waiter).

2.jpg

I didn’t expect the restaurant to be this busy (Thank God i made the reservation yesterday!) The place was almost full, I would’ve taken more pictures of the restaurant if it wasn’t so crowded!

31.jpg

The appetizers were delicious esara7a, I loved and enjoyed them, Even though i was surprised to find out that they don’t serve some of the famous mazzat (appetizers) like fried chicken wings with garlic and and grilled Hallom cheese. The starters were the hightlights, but when you reach the maincourses stage, I’m sorry to say that there is nothing special about them.

4.jpg

Over all the restaurant’s atmosphere is suitable for families, Just make sure to reserve before going.

In my opinion it deserves 4/5 due to the place being small and their main courses being bland.

kenafa.jpg

There is a new Knafa place in town and its called “Albal Knafa.” the first time i heard about it was when we had a family gathering and they hired the knafa guy to set up a knafa section and prepared it right infront of us. it was obviously very fresh when we started inhaling it. it tasted great, better than most knafas out there (its up there with 6aibawy’s).

dsc00802.jpg

My brother yesterday brought us some, I it wasn’t as good as it was that day when they had the guy fixing it up. Best way to eat it is to have the knafa guy come to your house or wherever ur having ur dinner party.. u won’t regret it!

I think the guy comes to ur place if you order a minimum of 5 kilos knafa which costs around 25 kd.

Their phone numbers: 2636703/4

My mom loves Martha Stewart’s cooking, so INM went ahead and ordered some of Martha’s cookies for her. We received it a week ago, me and INM were expecting real cookies.. but only after we started opening the packaging we discovered that we made a mistake, and that we ordered the cookies’ DOUGHS and not real baked cookies! mahagainaa walah ena chethy ! :P we eneded up, me and my wife, baking them ourselves.

5.jpg

61.jpg
As you can see above it got three packs in it, Sugar, Chocolate and Cookie Mix.
1.jpg

Here are the cookies! the pack is enough to make around 36 pieces. it says after preparing the cookie dough “put the cookies in the oven for 15 mins” but they ended up spending around 10 minutes only.. we like our cookies soft :D a7eb a7es’hooom eshwaya 3ayeeeen !! and they r REALY tasteeeeeeeeeeeey!

if u want to order, a pack will cost u 3KDs. I think its very well priced.. KDD take a some notes :P Click HERE. to order.

hb-front.jpg

it was recommended by My dear friend INTER. he said their sandwiches would remind me of the late hungry bunny chain. and it kinda did!

hb-bag1.jpg

i ordered 2 sandwiches and a fries. the super bunny sandwich (whopper look alike) and the roast beef sandwich. let me start by saying that i do not consider this restaurant a real restaurant, not a real fast food joint, nope, i think of it more like albatriq and sahran kinda of restaurants. mcdonald’s would be gourmet food next to these :P . anyway, their super bunny was nice, it was a cross over between the whopper and the big deluxe. i liked it and it did remind of of the real super bunny.

hb-roasbeef1.jpg

now the roast beef sandwich was reaal nice! i was surprised! they use real roast beef! i don’t know how to explain it.. i liked the quality of their roast beef (although a bit chewy) but nevertheless, it was good and the meat was kind of thick and full of flavor (the tomato and lettuce had to go though). my only criticism and the only thing that bothered me was the quality of their mayonnaise. it had an eggy taste.. yukh.

Overall its a nice little place for when you crave junk food yet u’re sick from the usual places. I personally would definitely go back for their roast beef. and when i’m a bit nostalgic, i’d go for their super bunny :D oh and i loved their buns! so fresh!

Its located in hawalli, facing the 4th ring road, just opposite the Royale Hayat hospital.

Few days ago after posting about Pop Up Popcorn the owner sent me this box of popcorn to get reviewed, It was a box of white chocolate popcorn.

My review will be based on Wrapping, Taste and Suggestion.

pop1.jpg

pop2.jpg

Wrapping:

As u can see above it has a beautiful finishing touches and its simply very modern and chic, even the quality of the box was good so far “My wife loves the black color tegool ekhaleeeh wayed raqey” :P

pop5.jpg

Taste:

When it comes to taste i give it an A+, its REALLY delicious and tasty and suitable for those who have sweet tooth, whats makes it unique the quality of chocolate, i even tasted the milk chocolate which has Nutella flavor “which i’m sure that everyone like it”.

They also got:

- Dark Chocolate flavor.

- Cinnamon flavor.

- Coffee flavor.

pop3.jpg

Suggestion:

- Adding more flavors such as Caramel, Honey and Peanut Butter.

- Adding more sizes so people can choose between them.

At the end i would like to thank Pop Up Owner for the popcorn.

rangolis-menu1.jpg

The name is Rangoli, located in the Radisson SAS hotel.

We went to Rangoli just over a week ago, last thursday to be specific. we went only days after the restaurant’s opening, thats what we were told.

I liked the restaurant, the place was well designed and the amount of spending was evident once you look around at the decorations and the overall feel of the place. I liked how they built the restaurant just under the “alboom” restaurant (alboom means big ship), it was VERY smart of them to use the boom’s lower structure to divide the restaurant in half.. so when you’re in Rangoli you’ll notice the base of a ship splitting the dining area in half. (shown below)

part of the ship’s base
rangoli-interior.jpg

Now the food. I don’t think you can go wrong with this place, we ordered many things from appetizers to main courses and we were all happy with our orders (or at least thats the vibe i got from the others :P ). I’m gonna speak for myself now, I ate some battered chicken for starters, i don’t know its name, but it was goooood! and so was the kebab and some other stuff i forgot, they were all delicious. I didn’t know what to order for the main course so i went with the safest dish.. the lamb baryany. the baryany was great as well. their baryany is one of the best i’ve ever tried, for me it ranks 2nd place (1st place goes to Dubai’s Asha’s).

rangoli-interior2.jpg

Now the only thing that really bothered us was the service. it was extremely slow. we waited a lot for the food to arrive, the appetizers and the main courses were too far apart. We complained to the waiter and he said that its their first “real” week, and they weren’t expecting so many customers (it was almost a full house) and that the kitchen was facing problems keeping up.. he also promised to do his best to not keep us waiting. (it would’ve been nicer/professional to bring us some drinks or things on the house while they kept us waiting, imo, but they didn’t).

Anyway, overall, I liked the place and I would definitely go back there soon and also would highly recommend it to my friends and family.
