We reviewed the wireless routers so if you want to know what the MiFi is all about and what we had to say about it click HERE.

zains mifi_1

Zain’s Marketing Department have sent us their new Zain MiFi device, which is not yet released in the market. Let’s start by telling you what it is first: The MiFi in a nutshell is a mobile router. And it’s size is almost exactly like the Blackberry curve size.

We have put it through tests for 3 days now, and we have the results. But before talking about its functions and all, we’d like to point out that this thing is elegant! when we held it it looked like a women’s fancy compact makeup; Storage is easy with this thing. Its a mobile router that you can charge and then use wirelessly.

3497 E-Mails

Ever since getting the blackberry I stopped checking the emails on my laptop.. and they kept piling up :)

Back to My First Love

Yes, I’m back.. to my first love.. a couple of days ago I went to Electrozan to buy the iPhone 3GS 16GB which was more expensive by around KD15 compared to the net. They were offering it for KD289, for the officially unlocked one.

I used it for couple of days now and I will compare it to the 1st generation iPhone because that was what I had before, its much much much faster, got a real gps, 3G internet speed.. and many more things!

The only problem was that I did not want to lose any of the blackberry main features which were the push emails and BBM. 9K2HN reminded me of MobileMe service which solve the push email problem, since apple provide that service. And the BBM issue was then solved by downloading and installing BeejiveIM on the iPhone, it’ll act like a BBM but in a different way; All of the BBM contacts should be signed in on Google Talk application, which is already in their BlackBerries, and they’ll be online 24/7, thus enabling the push service from there. I know its a bit complicated but once you’re done you won’t notice the difference.

Fastest growing firm in the world

“Thanks to a big rise in the popularity of its Blackberry handsets, profits at RIM have grown 84% over the past three years, while its revenues have expanded 77%, and it has seen a total return of 45%.”

Can you imagine the amount of money the accessories companies are making?

My friend saw this machine when he was in the states, at vegas’ airport. This has got to be the coolest vending machine I’ve seen so far. I don’t think it’d do great in Kuwait but I think it’d be fun to have it here.

Etisalat Spying on Blackberry users

It seems that the UAE based telecommunication company, Etisalat, messed up big time. They sent out a message to all of it’s 100,000 Blackberry subscribers urging them to update their mobile with the latest Etisalat patch: “Etisalat network upgrade for BlackBerry service. Please download to ensure continuous service quality.”

The application slowed mobiles’ performances and drained their batteries. After a closer look at the patch they found out that it contains an application that allow the company to intercept and get a copy of each email and sms sent. This option is turned off by default, However, it could be turned out remotely if they wanted to.

“he said that once installed, it potentially gives Etisalat the power to view all emails and text messages sent from the BlackBerry.”

“I don’t think it’s been designed for a large scale deployment,” he said. “They have released it as an upgrade across all UAE BlackBerry handsets, all of which have tried to phone home to this one registration server at the same time, and that has effectively brought the server to its knees. When the BlackBerry cannot register itself, it tries again and this causes the battery drain.” – Nigel Gourlay

Kuwait look

I think this site will be useful coz it can provide you with the name and the phone number for whoever you’re looking for.

From there site:

“With Residential Search you can look for any residential telephone number in Kuwait by typing the person name or any part of it. To be more specific you can select the governorate or area after making your general search”

In order to get the name you have to write the number in Arabic.

I Just got sms from 9K2HN telling me that Skype.com is no longer blocked by Fasttelco. Yet, I’ve checked with Zain, since it’s my ISP, and its still blocked. Can you fill us in if it’s working on other ISPs?

blackberry-storm-2

Word has it that a new Blackberry storm is going to be released. Mishary bought the older one, it didn’t last much with him, it sucked and he bought the new curve. I’ve head that the screen isn’t all that and although it’s a touch screen, it doesn’t function when it’s “touched” but has to be “clicked” to function.. Anyway.. The Storm 2 is said to be released in a month or 2 tops, so don’t go out and buy the older one just yet, no matter how alluring the touch screen may sound :P

Thanks 9k2hn

Update By Mishary:

According to BlackBerryOS forum moderator the BlackBerry Storm 2 could be out sooner than expected. Which is expected to be this June.

a-new-slimmer-ps3

Engagdet posted yesterday that they got a hold of some leaked pictures that suggest the release of a newer and slimmer PS3. The news isn’t confirmed yet. They did the same with the PS2 and people, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one turns out to be true and people fall head over heels over it too.

a-new-summer-activity

You’ve seen this thing, the jetlev flyer, before on email forwards or on tv, right? It was finally made available for people to buy last month. People now can buy this thing and start flying all over Kuwait’s beaches this summer :P

Jetlev is available in 2 models:

  1. The one with 155 HP costs € 99,000. Around KD 38,000.
  2. The one with 215 HP costs € 119,000. Around KD 46,000.

With these prices could the jetlev flyer be the next big summer activity in Kuwait? To use this machine you need 10 hours of training first, but I’m totally picturing this machine being rented in Kuwait for say, KD20 for a 10 minutes ride, with less than 10 seconds worth of training.

Thanks Fawaz
