I was in the belajat street with my wife the other day and I noticed some new kind of traffic lights with 3 reds in them and they flash continuously. When I got a bit closer I read a sign nearby that says something like “if you see the flashing lights you should come to a complete stop! coz it means either the Amir is coming in or getting out of his house. They are located in front of the dar salwa palace.
And today i got a phone call from Ali saying the same thing, plus, now they are adding some kind of a bridge (I don’t know what to call it) with some sensors or cameras, I’m not sure what’s their purpose. Ali said that these little bridges are being constructed in Fahahel high way. Any one knows what are these thing for?
Thank you Ali.

sunshine just because kuwait is turning into a more stable and logic and humane place doesnt mean their ruining any lives, with the way ppl drive id make sure that ppl would be scared to speed. ma 9arat il ma95ara on the highway, every dipshit that goes on the shoulder(emergency) to overtake you should get jailed or whipped
Interesting aabout the red lights thing. It makes me wonder, why doesn’t the amir take a helicopter around? plus, why not have helicopters flying VIPs around instead of blocking the streets on the rest of the population lile a few days ago…
[…] pictures. Turns out its not new cameras but a new traffic light system. More info on their blog. [Link] May 4, […]

I thought helicopters were not allowed in Kuwait…

Those “bridges” are traffic monitoring systems. On the back, they have a camera(s) and on the front they have a screen that will tell you if there is traffic ahead and what’s the speed you should slow down to, etc. Or atleast that’s what I’ve heard. As for the lights. They blink orange all the time except when there is a reason why traffic needs to be stopped, in which case they turn red
what are u talking about? how can helicopters not be allowed in kuwait sunshine? we see them all the time.. i saw one yesterday.. :/
The first night these lights were installed, they left the flashers on probably for testing.
I saw the flashing lights, and as i approached closer, I read the sign that told me to stop when the lights were flashing.
But everyone around me was driving normally.
So I carried on…
Pretty stupid to leave them on…
Dont think they will be of help.
