“The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday conducted tests to induce artificial rain, which yielded light to medium showers in some areas of the country.

The Meteorological Department at the National Centre of Meteorology and seismology (NCMS), used planes to sprinkle cloud seeding salts in moist clouds heading towards Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain, the Emirates news agency said.

Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification, used mostly to increase precipitation, by introducing particles into moist clouds.

The monitoring stations have already registered light to medium rainfalls in different areas of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the agency said, adding the Centre is planning to repeat the tests tomorrow.”

We need these kind of experiments in Kuwait Instead of spending money on tiling every sandy area and changing the roads on every traffic intersection from asphalt to tiles. We should be spending the money on these kind of things instead.

Thanks for this post and alerting me to the rainmakers.

I love the look of your web site. Keep up the good work.

I must make a return visit.

Cloud seeding,an act of worship of Allah by providing more water for mankind
    **********************************************************************************
Meteorologists of Emirates must be treated as holy persons who are intending to provide more rain water which the clouds normally will not give unless treated with chemicals like Common salt ,Silver iodide and ice powder depending upon the nature of clouds and their seedability factors as per guidelines of WMO and other countries like Australia,USA,China and South Africa. For more details see the web: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-06-29-china-rain_x.htm

we don’t need rain all we need in Kuwait is a something like the great wall of China or mountains around Kuwait. The reason not for beauty but to deflect those sand storms coming from either Iraq or Saudi Arabia. Another solution could be to move Kuwait to a newer location maybe somewhere in the center of bermuda triangle.

  7. Yousef says:

Enigma but there are so many news sources explaining how it works. for exampl USATODAY:

    “HOW SCIENTISTS PRODUCE RAIN

China’s state news agency, Xinhua, says government rainmakers flew 3,000 cloud seeding flights from 2000 to 2005 and triggered rainfalls that dumped 275 billion cubic yards. That’s enough rain to fill the country’s second-largest river, the Yellow River, four times over.

    Test case
Gutian Reservoir in southeastern Fujian province has reported a 24% increase in rain during the past dozen years of testing.

    How it works
Scientists at meteorological centers in major cities monitor clouds by satellite and analyze their content. When conditions are ripe, local rainmaking teams are ordered to assemble. Teams such as Yu Yonggang’s outside Beijing can be at their guns in 10 minutes.

Rainmaking from the ground: Shells are fired from anti-aircraft guns or rocket launchers. An alternative is to burn silver iodide on hilltops. Moisture in clouds collects around the chemical particles until it is heavy enough to fall.
Rainmaking from the air: Aircraft spray the chemical from beneath their wings or fire chemical flares into clouds. Dry-ice pellets are also used. Planes are the most expensive method of rainmaking but can cover a wider area than ground-based artillery.
    The arsenal
37,000 people, mostly part-timers in the countryside – farmers and former soldiers.
    30 aircraft.
4,000 rocket launchers and more than 7,000 artillery pieces used to seed clouds with silver iodide.

  8. Mrs.P.Subhashini says:

Cloud seeding is Allah’s Gift to intelligent people only.
Allah, the Almighty has provided to man all gifts of Nature.
Unless you pluck the fruits from the tree, you cannot eat them to get energy to save your own life.Similarly God has given plenty of water resources on Earth and in the oceans. The Sun provides free energy to evaporate the sea waters so that fresh water molecules as vapour are carried up into the sky along with the warm winds that carry the lighter vapour of moist winds that after reaching certain height, say about 1 to 2 km.in the sky gets saturated and the liquid part settles over smoke or dust particles which give us the cloud droplets that again are pushed by updrafts into freezing zone in the sky and that is how clouds form.If these clouds have sufficient Nuclei that change cloud droplets into large sized raindrops, the clouds give us rainfall or snowfall, depending upon environmental temperature. In warm clouds we inject common salt or other hygroscopic chemicals and in cold clouds we inject ice particles or silver iodide particles that trigger snowformation which by its weight falls down to earth as precipitation.
Thus if we want more rainfall or snowfall we have to employ suitable methods to squeeze more water from the clouds which, left to themselves do not give more than one-fifth of their water content as precipitation. So,if we inject into suitable clouds the needed chemical nuclei,we get more precipitation as otherwise the remaining moisture gets dissipatesd in the atmosphere as vapour
