I’ll be leaving today to Qatar! I don’t know why Qatar, especially in this hot weather, but I’ve been wanting to go there ever since Intlxpatr started posting about it.. and since I don’t get to have a real vacation this summer, Qatar sounded real good to me and my friends.
I know nothing about the country, I’ll be collecting information from here and there. My friend intlxpatr gave me some valuable info about places to go and see, and I had them saved on my mobile. If you know any good places to visit in Qatar PLEASE do tell! I’m gonna need everything you know about the country. I’m going to be there for the weekend only and ofcourse will be posting about it when I get back.
I’m Not Going!
Bad luck at it’s best! I was informed just 3 hours before the take off that I had some work related stuff to do, and I have to work on it during the weekend coz the deadline is on Sunday at 8 am.. Woohoo! 👿 I just hate it when I prepare myself for something and have it taken away from me just like that!
P.S. The nice friends of mine are now boarding the plane. How nice the situation that I’m in is, huh?
P.P.S. The plane got delayed, then almost took off without them.

I liked Ahmad’s suggestion – many Kuwaitis have distant Qatari relations. 🙂 If you have cousins in Qatar, they know a whole lot more about the fun young people have (which mostly involves cars; go back in the cooler months and you can go dune bashing – one thing I love about Qatar is that you can go anywhere in the desert – no landmines waiting to explode. 🙁 )
Hope you have a great adventure. 🙂

7ooooooooobah 😉
I enjoyed my stay in Qatar. I felt free and relaxed during my stay. Wine with diner….delicious!
LOL, I kept looking for an entry on Qatar – only now did I see you didn’t go! Oh no! Hope your boss is impressed with your dedication and work ethic. 🙂
Well, this is late but I thought I’d leave my input just in case you go again. My family has been there a number of times, and I went there a few weeks ago. This is what we all liked:
The W Hotel: Everything about it is cool and the interior is so modern and funky. They have good rates and are great for younger visitors. (My parents weren’t too excited about it, they prefer the Four Seasons or the Ritz). Check out ALL their restaurants and their lounge (just to see the interior decor)
The Pearl: It was really hot when we were there, so we didn’t stay long, but it looks fantastic. Gorgeous views.
Villagio Mall: Malls in Kuwait are much nicer, but Villagio has all the same shops as the Avenues and it has a lot of cafes.
Soog Wagif: Didn’t go, but it is recommended, just to see the cultural markets.
Go “hotel hopping”. Visit as many of the new hotels as you can. They have great restaurants and cool architecture.
And as someone commented, if you have friends or family there, they will show you around some nice places too.
