Pinkberry is opening another branch at the Avenues mall, near ikea. This one’s going to be a mini branch, a smaller one with no seating area, it’ll be for takeaways only. This is good considering the huge line we see every time we pass by.

Now the vuvuzela deserves to be blended!

Astronomer Dr. Saleh Al Ojairy said that the current heat wave is mainly due to the dust settling down and a clear sky. It is expected to last for the rest of this week, but the tempreture will return back to normal by the begining of next week.

He also said that whoever says the tempretures are going to rise up to 60 and 70 degrees (BBM rumors) are inaccurate, as these tempretures are only reached in some parts of Saudi Arabia due to direct sun exposure.

I would take dust over extreme heat any day!

The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key during a battle in 1812. Restoration of the original script revealed some newly discovered verses that have never been heard for over 150 years. The new verses have darker and violent lyrics. No wonder they haven’t been heard for 150 years, They’re quite shocking for a national anthem.

Some of the new fake verses:
Tear the heads from our foes
Let their hot blood gush forth
Chop their limbs from their trunks
Drag their bodies from horses

So we beat them with chains
Burn their eyes out with flames
And we laughed as they screamed
While we raped who remained

I’ve always loved the American national anthem, especially Whitney Houston’s version.

Note: Never mind. it was just a satire. It was so very believable.

Johnny Depp never struck me as a ‘funny’ actor, I’m sure he’s versatile and has many talents but I don’t see him doing comedy, not in his human form anyway.. Maybe as a lizard? I don’t know. His role here looks promising though. I’m looking forward to this one.

Second thought: He was kinda funny in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Lots of restaurants open in Kuwait by the day, some succeed and some fail, but every once in awhile a new restaurant emerge and manage to reset the standards. B+F Open Flame Kitchen is one of those spectacular restaurants. Their floform countertops and extra high ceilings make for an expansive venue filled with music and food fit for the sacred. The ambience, the food, the service, the location.. are all top notch. Another great achievement by Slider Station & Burger Boutique’s owners. I think this one’s going to be huge!

I was invited to the soft opening along with my friends last week, we went there on time and got seated close to where all the magic happens. We were talking about their beautiful kitchen timber benchtops as we waited for the food. Rumors have been circulating about a recall for all the new iPhones but there is no official announcement yet, and according to many news sources, it is very unlikely to happen.

However apple has a solution.. the bumper case:

“The bumper case is a rubber holder that just surrounds the exterior of the device, and that Apple started selling the same day as the iPhone 4 for $29. Apple has already said it’s not giving the cases away for free. It’s not clear why the company wouldn’t do that, especially when the problem has been reproduced by many people, though it varies by place and person.” – cnet news

The least they could do is give each iPhone buyer the bumper case for free. Thats just the least they could do if the problem proved to be something they can’t solve with a software update.

The new restaurant Pizzetta is finally open, but from 1pm to 5pm only, it’s kind of a soft opening until they have all their papers ready to officially launch the restaurant.

It’s on the same strip where Prime & Toast and Sliders Station are located, opposite the Seif Palace.

This has got to be the coolest way to get rid of your old iPhone. Now all I need is an old iPhone and a big weird ‘death ray’ lens!

Jimmy Kimmel’s show ran through some technical difficulties when a power outage knocked out the show’s control room, broadcast transmission center and tape operations. Jimmy found himself left with no cameras to record, but somehow managed to sidestep his problem by recording the entire show using his Macbook’s camera and the photo booth software.

Incident: Lady Gaga was drunk at the Yankees stadium during a game, she wore bras and bikini bottom, yelled profanities and gave everybody the finger. She was mad that her front raw seat was too close to the photographers covering the game. She went away for a bit and then was upgraded to the empty luxury box owned by Seinfeld. He had this to say about Lady Gaga:

“This woman is a jerk. I hate her. I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for.

You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in now?

I wish her the best. You take one ‘A’ off of that and you’ve got gag.

I don’t know what these young people think or how they promote their careers. I’m older, I’m 56. I look at Lady Gaga the way Keith Hernandez watches these kids when they pull the pocket out, they wear the inside-out pocket. … Do you think he understands that? He can’t understand that. That’s a new game, that’s kids.

I’m not one of these all-publicity-is-good people. People talk about you need exposure — you could die of exposure.

My friend owns a Sushi restaurant called OiShii Sushi, and they came up with a new addition to the Kuwaiti Sushi scene, The Sushi burger (pictured above), which wasn’t available in Kuwait until they included it in the menu. They made a big deal about it and most blogs wrote about the new sushi burger.

My friend was disappointed and surprised that a new restaurant would use that same idea just months after Oishii announced their sushi burger. He knows that it wasn’t an original idea, but he also knows that no one thought of having sushi burgers in Kuwait until they introduced it in there menu.

I can’t help but think of this saying “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” It means you’re good enough to have imitators!

I haven’t tried Oishii Sushi yet but I will soon. I’ve been hearing very good things about it from mutual friends.

Melenzane means eggplants in italian, and is also the name of the new italian restaurants that has recently opened in Kuwait in Albidaa area. I was told that one of owners cooked, and he cooks regularly at the Melanzane. Always a nice sign to have an restaurant owner who cooks at his place.

We went there today at 5pm for lunch. The interiors have an under-construction/industrial feel, with most of the furniture turned upside down (tables on the ceiling, drawers that open upside-down) basically, it had cool interiors. Also the place is tiny and cozy which made us feel like we’re in for a treat.

I had high hopes for the food because the restaurant gave that kind of an impression.. However, when it was time to dig in, the food turned out shockingly bland.

Before exiting the mall my friend and I were craving some frozen yogurt. It’s weird, I tried Pinkberry only once, and I didn’t find it that appealing, yet I can’t help but crave it most of the time. Anyway, my friend went for Pinkberry and I went for Ansam’s yogurt at Napkit.

Her choice of having watermelon flavored yogurt with pomegranates and rose water was intriguing. I thought I wouldn’t like it. I ended up loving it!

The tiny cup was bursting with flavors. The yogurt was very sweet and the pomegranates were fresh. The rose water, my only worry, worked well in that mix. I thought it was a nice twist. The whole thing was so sweet and very refreshing. Don’t miss it.

Finally! A year and a half ago we posted about it, and now it’s almost here. One of of the best places in Paris to have a great croissant a great cafe au lait and a great overall experience is opening soon at 360. I hope we’re gonna get the same patisseries and paris’s overall quality, minus the attitude.

Note: Bahrain was supposed to have it open first. They had the ‘Ladurée opening soon’ sign up at ModaMall for a long time only to remove it and have Maki open in it’s place.
