Next OSX name will be Snow Leopard (will be released in a year or so).

iPhone 3G, they added GPS and 3G capability. KD53 for 8GB and KD80 for 16GB version.

It will be available (Officially) in Qatar, Egypt and Jordan. Kuwait will be getting it before them but in an UNOFFICIAL way 🙂

Firefox are planning to set a Guinness World Record by orchestrating a download day for their much anticipated (not by me) Firefox 3. You can go to their website and read more about it, and maybe participate in the pledge yourself and sign up for a reminder. I did. Not sure why, knowing that I don’t use firefox… I think I just wanted to be part of this thing! 😀

Mac Users, this is a nice program if you want to convert RM to MP3. Its simple and easy to use, it barely has an interface (you can’t get any simpler). All you have to do is, take the song’s link, drag and drop it in this software and it’ll do the rest. It takes an average of 40-50 secs to convert a song.

The only thing that may annoy you is the the need for an internet connection for it to work.

Today was ANM’s birthday .. i decided to drag her into Mac world! just to let her know what it feeels like to be a mac owner! (poor windows users) so me & my wife decided to do a little surprise in this birthday 😛 and my wife came with a brilliant idea!

Which is wrapping the macbook with a peace of fabric and on top of we put some paper shreds so that the macbook will be completely covered and not be seen, and then on top of that we put perfumes and bokhoor and mobkhar.

Here is the final look of the box when its opened .. No a single clue that the macbook is in the bottom! 😛

Now when it comes to wrapping i wont say anything just that simply my wife is a PROFITIONAL in gift wrapping.

HNM’s gift .. Also wrapped by my wife.

INM’s gift.. i think girls will know this where is this gift from and even what it is 😛

Now guys what do u think ANM’s reaction was after opening our gift?! well, she flashed a fake smile with a fake “wow”, thanked us and went ahead to open INM’s and HNM’s gifts with a Huge real WOWs! We also got her a sewing machine from sewing machine today. She absolutely loved it.

After that I suggested that they go get ready to have dinner in the Avenues (to let her really lose hope), before we went out of the door i told to her to take her stuff to her room and she said was like “Okay..”. and while she’s grabbing the perfumes i decided to help her out a bit.. so that i uncover the macbook by mistake ya3ni 3eshtaw bakoon chenaa madreeey!! 😛 so i grabbed it and did it. and her reaction was priceless.. she SCREAMED! “A MACBOOK?!!!! For ME?! i knew it i knew it that the perfumes were not a real gift” then started crying! Laish madrey?!!! 😛

Today i was checking Apple store, both the 8GB and 16GB models are “Currently Unavailable”. There’s no indication of whether this is merely a case of stock mis-management or a sign that a new iPhone is fast approaching. Hope this is a new indication of the new 3G iPhone Bs still im in love with my Curve 😛

Its the port number! Change the port number!

I called Zain many times even went to their branches and talked to lots of sales agents and their technical support department.. All with no luck of finding a solution to the not being able to receive emails through email clients (Outlook, Mail…etc) problem.

This weekend when we were talking about this problem, Hamad told me something about changing the port, then Khalid told me that he’s been using Ego with no such problem, He also said something about the port number. Finally he gave me the port number he’s been using and.. just like that.. it worked!

My Gmail, Mac and personal domain all worked with outgoing server port #587. 😀

I came back from the shalaih around 6pm and was exhausted from racing and avoiding cars on Fhaiheel highway. I went directly to my room to find this bag on the ground near the door, I looked at it and didn’t know what it is, I assumed it belonged to Mom so I went to bed and lied down. As I was lying there I kept looking at the bag near the door, it looked familiar, I can read Kodak and I see Ashraf is written there too.. “what a coincidence! I was there just 2 days ago” I thought. Then suddenly my eyes 😯 as it sunk in, and in less than a second I found myself standing over the bag looking down, trying to take a peek at whats inside.

It was gift-wrapped and backpack-shaped! This means that someone read my post and in less than 48 hours bought the bag for me, wrapped it and sent it??? 😀 I wanna know who did this! I took it out and placed it on the bed, there was a little note there, I read it and suddenly felt very ill, then hot, then plain embarrassed.

Someone at Ashraf read my post (I wonder who that might be? 😛 ) and was nice enough to go out of their way and send me this amazing gift.

Here is how you do it:

• Go to installer.
• Go to sources.
• Add this source http://apps.q8dusty.com
• Go to install.

• Search for folder Q8Dusty you will find two things 1. Arabic Menu: which will transfer all your interface to Arabic. 2. iPhone Arabizer: this will let you write/read arabic sms’s from your original application.

So install what you want and then restart.

P.S. i’ve tried it on both versions 1.0.2 and 1.1.3 and both are working.

You will be able to read arabic fonts in:

• Contacts.
• Safari.
• SMS.

Finally! You don’t need a US credit card to purchase songs off iTunes store anymore! All you need to do is buy an iTunes gift card from Ebay!

Yesterday I bought a digital iTunes card off ebay and got the code via email. I just went to the iTunes store, redeemed the card and started downloading songs legally! (for a change) it can’t get any easier than this! down with the US credit cards! Hello iTunes cards 😀

I ordered a 4 GB Kingston Ram for my Macbook pro off amazon.com. I went to Youtube and looked around for an easy installation guide and found a good one, I won’t be showing that video in here, Instead I’m doing my own stepbystep post 😛

First thing first, Go to whatever site you like to order your desired RAM. Crucial, OWC & Newegg are all good sites, but unfortunately they were a big pain when it came to placing my order. They emailed me asking for a copy of my driver’s license and my (late) visa card. I ignored them and went to amazon and ordered my RAM from kingston. Windows users, there is a good Kingston Helper in there to help you find the suitable RAM for your PCs.

Now lets get to business. make sure you have a tiny philips (cross) screw driver. and i mean tiny!

Flip the laptop and remove the battery.

Now take the screw driver and start undoing the screws. becareful you don’t want to lose any of those tiny things.

Now remove the lid

There are tiny little clips on the left and right holding the RAM down. press them outward, away from the memory to release them.

Once you do so they’ll stick out. Remove them and place your new RAM. Press them down hard and you hear this little “tikk.” (anything other than a little tick means you broke your RAM)

Close the lid and put the screws back. And You’re Done!!! 😀

*Now its just plain bragging*

The RAM was $115 when I bought it, now they’re selling it for $95, Link.

I posted the other day about Amazon.com and their mistake. Well, I was expecting them to let us keep the wrong order and ship us another laptop, But that hopeful thought was shot down when Hamad told me that they expect him to send the laptop back or they’ll make him pay for it.

So much for getting away with a free laptop. 😛

My brother ordered a laptop for a friend. This friend made his debut to online buying with this laptop purchase. Its his very first time.. 😀

This is how the story goes.. Our friend wanted to buy the newly released White Macbook with a 2.4 processor & 2 GB RAM. My brother (6ag issadir) and helped him order, using my DHL address. 12 days later the laptop arrived and our friend went to the customs to pick it up (He payed 65kd to the DHL, 57 for the delivery and 8kd for the requested insurance) Anyway! He took it and started playing around with it.. a day or 2 later and as he was looking around, he decided to take a look at the device specs.. he went to that little Apple icon on top and clicked on About This Mac.

I got a call from my brother saying there was a mistake with the order! We ordered and paid for the 2.4 and got the 2.1 instead!!

After much investigation and contemplating my brother stumbled upon the 2 stickers shown above. Turned out there was a mistake from Amazon.com’s side when placing these 2 stickers. One of the stickers states that this is a 2.1 Macbook and the other says its the newer (more expensive) 2.4 Macbook!

We, and by we I mean my brother, have already sent an email to Amazon and are waiting their reply!

This is not their first time messing up our orders. I remember once Me, Mishary & INM were shocked to find boring books in the package instead of the DVDs we’ve ordered.

A few days ago i received my Time Capsule, the 500GB version. it was supposed to be shipped at the end of Feb. but due to some version update Apple delayed it till the end of March.

Whats in the box:

• Time Capsule.
• Power Cable.
• Manual.
• Installation CD.

  

  I thought it would fit nicely on top of my Mac Mini, but turned out its a lot wider & thinner. but it looks sexy! 😛

  Straight to the point

  Pros:

  • wireless access 24/7 to your storage people! this is soo cool! Im backing up my mac & vista wirelessly!
  • i connected it with my Zain router, so now it acts as my storage PLUS internet. The fact that its Wireless N is making it a very good access point.
  • Its Sexy! its an apple product! yes im considering apple a plus!

    Cons:

    • Syncing. It takes ages to sync wirelessly. backing up my MBP took around 8-10 Hours.

      The 500GB costs KD80 & the 1TB costs KD133.

      I give it a 4 Out of 5.

My mother woke me up around 11:30 and gave me a red piece of paper with some weird words scribbled down on it. as i looked harder, squeezing all of my eye powers just to focus on this little paper, i read managed to read words like: delivered, postal service, my name..

I didn’t get it, i was half asleep so i can’t be blamed. but then Mom said “I think its concerning your laptop.” thats when i got fully awake! my laptop is here!!! turned out no, its not here. the ministry of whatever just sent me a notice to come and pick my laptop “or it will be returned to it’s source after 10 days.”

I sprung to my feet, went downstairs and asked our cook, i wanted more info. he said that a guy came, gave him this piece of paper and told him “let Yousef come see us and collect his package after 5 days.” HA! 5 days?! ILWAISH?!

I barely brushed my teeth and went to Kifan Central. after struggling to find the right counter, i finally managed to get my laptop just 1.5 minutes before their closing time. The guy asked me why did i bother come in such a hurry? I said “i paid a lot to get it in time and i didn’t want to waste the weekend with “what ifs” thoughts).

I didn’t pay a single dime for tax 😀 (and that my friends, made my week!).
