Yesterday after ANM’s birthday we went to the Avenues and wanted to taste Häagen-Dazs Fondue, so we went there and placed an order. BTW its in the Avenues phase II.

Its says that it serves 4 persons in the menu, but actually it serves only 2 (Kuwaiti person) you know what i mean by Kuwaiti .. ya3ni etha 7ag 4 beseer bas e7alfoon 3alaih 😛

It comes with 2 large plates

First plate contains:

  • Strawberry.
  • Kiwi.
  • Banana.
  • Brownie.
  • Cookies.

Second Plate contains:

4 choices of their ice cream flavor.

The ice cream melt so quickly if you dip it in the chocolate sauce, so beware. I think it deserves 2/5 due to the cheap tasting chocolate sauce.

FYI: they are accepting cash only at the moment.

Yeah its gone. I had to contact the dentist office for info first, and went to the Dentist Belmont today around 9 ish and thought I was there for just another drill & fill job, but the doctor seemed to have other plans for me, He drilled, wizzzed and hammered for half an hour then gave me a mirror. I marveled at my shiny new tooth for a second, then he took the mirror away and started all over again.

I didn’t know he was planning on taking my wisdom tooth today! He never told me! All he said was that we’re going to keep the wise teeth till last. But anyway, I wasn’t about to put up a fight, I wanted to get rid of that tooth specifically (long story) so I agreed and let him start. Otherwise, Mark L Civin, D.D.S. can help. I thought it would take more time coz wisdom teeth got a reputation to live up to! but no, all it took was less than a minute and it was out. Although I think my heart stopped more than once during that minute, I think it went pretty well. It’s still thumping though. Get a safe wisdom teeth removal! If you also want to improve your smile, a dental office like Gentry Dentistry office can offer cosmetic dental procedures based on your needs.

All the way back home I was really mad that no one mentioned the possibility of getting Dental Implants Pflugerville. No one told me!

Now I have to watch what I eat, no real food for 24 hours, plenty of ice cream, no hot drinks and always rinse gently. I just took 2 panadols and 1 other great pain killer (Mefac). I’m not feeling real pain at the moment thank God.

The elections period is finally over and I just want to say Congrats to those who lost and hard luck for those who won in this parliamentary election, and With that being said, and everything going back to normal (hopefully) in Kuwait, what is there to talk or write about other than a good old restaurant review 😀

Shabestan In Crown Plaza hotel is the restaurant for me whenever I’m in a mood for a nice iranian meal.

The restaurant is never too busy and you can always go there without prior reservation. The atmosphere is very warm, real and authentic (if you can overlook the multinational staff), I like that the place has many little seating areas, giving it a cozy feel. One of the things that first caught my attention was their attention to details in everything from the furniture, the paintings on the wall, the carpets.. down to their chinaware.

The food. Now the food obviously is whats keeping me loyal and coming back this restaurant. Surprisingly I’m not a big fan of traditional iranian food. Kebabs, Humus and iranian bread are not among the things I like to eat when I’m in a restaurant, But I go there for their Halim Bathenjan (a puree of aubergine, lamb, fried onion strips and traditional kashk) for starters & my favorite Baghalah Polo-Ba-Mahicheh (leg of lamb cooked in its own juices over a slow fire for hours and seasoned with spices and broad beans with my choice of rice) for the main course. The only thing I wish they’d work on is there stews. I love me some Ghormeh Sabzi, but theirs are not really special. Other than that, there food is to die for.

The staff is friendly and very efficient. when you first sit there, they offer complimentary Iranian greens with salty white cheese and freshly baked iranian bread (baked infront of you).

The restaurant, in my opinion, is one of the most consistent restaurants I’ve been to, which is a great quality in a restaurant if you ask me. I never go there more than once a month, and when I’m there, I expect a perfect meal, and they never fail to meet my expectations.

They get a 4.5 out of 5 from me.

Today i got an email from pumkinah telling me that McDonald’s does offer home delivery. but wait! where is it available?! its available in Bangkok! 😛 yeah pumkinah is now in Bangkok, i hope they offer delivery all over Kuwait soon 🙂

Any way thanks pumkinah and have fun there 😛

In my melcha days i can briefly say that i went to 99% of Kuwait’s restaurants, one of the discovered restaurant was Tang Chao, I found out about it from my GPS, its basically a Chinese restaurant (By the way i wasn’t a big fan of chinese cuisine).

But after marriage everything changed upside down! Now im so addicted to Chinese restaurants!

Yesterday me, the wifey and INM decided to have our dinner there, So we went there and had our usuals 😛

This is for the crunch 😛

Our favorite dish (Shrimp on toast).

Chicken spring rolls.

Our second favorite dish is chicken sweet & sour.

Garlic fried rice.

As shown above its located in Belajat street in the Holiday Inn Hotel.

Finally it scores a 4/5 due to taste plus reasonable prices. If ur a peacock restaurant fan i think u must try this and compare the taste vs price and reset your fanhood 😛

My friend had this nice ice cream (above) in italy last summer and it looked really special mostly coz of the novelty factor imo.

But I have good news for you guys (minus good), Its available in Kuwait now. Somewhere in Hawally, I’ve been told.

Thank you loco for the 1st pic and Kuwait & FoOD for the 2nd pic.

Edit:

Thank you Om FasoOoL for the information 🙂

The Crêpe Café will be opening soon in Kuwait. Its a crêperie that serve pancakes, waffles, crêpes as well as omelets. Their food and desserts revolve around crêpes.

Opening soon in 2 locations:

  • Avenues Mall – May 2008 (Phase 2 i think).
  • Raya Plaza – July 2008.

Esara7a I didn’t try them before but im going to give them a shot inshallah when they open.

For their menu and more information click HERE.

Thanks to ANM

Now guess! 😛

For people like me & my wife who never know how much pasta to cook (it’s either too much or too little and we’re either unsatisfied or have two days of leftovers), I think this chrome device will solve our issue, it measures the amount of spaghetti for up to four people and doubles as a trivet.

Thanks to Ahmad.

After having a breakfast like this one here and lying around doing nothing for awhile we got a bit.. bored.

So, Me and HKR decided to go out and take some pictures with our cameras. One thing led to another and all of a sudden we were 7 people packed in 2 cars going for a , I’m not sure what to call it, they wanted to go ge79ing in a sandy area 😛 Is there any better opportunity to try out my new lens? 😀 I used the 28-135mm for the most part and my friend used his Macro 100mm.

I loved using a quicker lens as it allowed me to take pictures in a more relaxed manner, I used to try to breath carefully while i click on the, uhmmm, clicker? i don’t know what its called, but it was annoying to be so careful. That wasn’t the case last weekend at all. I had a nice experience with the camera. Near the end I tried my Macro, but I didn’t like it in that setting, I think its better with objects that tend to stay in one place and do not move 😛 however my friend used the Macro and nothing else. and his pictures turned out great! (bal) 😯

Yes the owners of Sultan Center struck a deal to bring these two supermarkets after spending about KD27 million, Here is an excerpt from the article:

A major Kuwaiti food company acquired Lebanon’s Monoprix and Giant stores for $97 million. Michael Abchee, the general manager of Admic which owns Monoprix and Giant malls, told The that Kuwait’s Sultan Center for Food Product, better know as TSC, has made this transaction after several months of negotiations.”

Remember ages ago I posted about that basbosa lookalike? the “Baked With Love” post?

Here is the full, extra easy, recipe!

Ingredients for the topping (sheera)

-3/4 Cup of water.
-1/2 Cup of sugar.
-1/4 Tea Sp. Cardamom powder.
-1/4 Tea Sp. Saffron.

Bring the water to boil, add the other ingredients. mix well until the sugar dissolves. keep aside to cool.

Stage 2

Ingredients:

-2 Lebanese Bread. (its the white bread from Kuwait flour Mills & Bakeries Co).
-1/2 a cup of sugar.
-3/4 cup of milk.
-3/4 cup corn oil.
-3 Eggs.
-1 Tea Sp. Baking powder.
-1/2 Tea Sp. Cardamom powder.
-1/2 Tea Sp. Saffron.
-1/4 Tea Sp. Salt.

Put them all in a blender. If you dont have one, you should consider to buy one. Check out these best juicers.

Saffron and Cardamom.

The Baking Powder

Hmm.. maybe some more Saffron.

Mix well then pour it into this baking dish (thank you dots…)

Decorate with some nuts (Skippable)

Pop it in the oven for 30 minutes on 350 degrees. If its an electric oven then set it to 180 degrees.

Once its done, take it out, pour the cold topping (sheera) while the cake is still hot. And Enjoy it! 😀

Note: Don’t let the lebanese bread deceive you, you won’t believe how good it tastes 😛

I was torn between the Ketchup, cheese, Hot & Spicy and The one above. I’m sorry to tell you all that I made a bad bad… bad decision. It tastes like something that shouldn’t be tasted by anyone and What’s killing me is that the taste lingers.. it’s not going away!
