The Guys over at Ekelni.com asked us to take a look at their website, review it and post about it. So we were given access to Ekelni, snuck inside and took a peak.. We pretty much liked everything we saw. Ofcourse the site is still being worked on, but it’s kinda almost ready..

So what this Ekelni is all about?

Ekelni.com is a new online food-ordering service that is about to be launched in Kuwait by a group of young Kuwaitis. Ekelni would be the second service of it’s kind in Kuwait, and hopefully could push up the bar for a better experience. The site looks great and the navigation is pretty simple.. You know what, let me put the things I liked in a list..

I liked:

  • The pages were laid out very nicely and was easy to navigate from one page to another. No clutter.
  • Almost every dish has a picture next to it. You’d appreciate this feature if you ever had to go by a dish’s name at an asian restaurant.
  • Works perfectly on my favorite browser, Safari!
  • An iPhone application to go along with it.
  • The site will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  • Cash, K Net, Visa & MaserCards are accepted.

I think its very promising. I enjoyed the little tour around the site and I think you all will once it is launched.

As usual Dubai always the pioneers in everything even in burgers, they’ve just introduced the camel burger.

If you want to try something new, then its located in Local House Restaurant and will cost 20 UAE dirhams (around KD 1.600).

My friend baked us some of these ready made Chocolate chip cookie-dough over the weekend and they were just amazing. The taste is just right and it was extremely easy to make. He baked 2 batches, a regular sized batch and a generous sized batch. The latter was a killer.

Thanks Bader

My brother Hamad told me about the KDD ice cream machine, and he kept raving about how good it’s ice-cream is, how smooth the vanilla and how sweet the chocolate is. I didn’t give it much thought till the he brought it up for, like, the 17th time. I decided that I need to try it out and that I would probably need my camera to report it back in here. I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed, at all.

The shop is a KDD shop, never knew such shops existed. Heard about the one in shuwaikh but somehow it did not register, I mean a KDD shop? Why?

I went in and there were a couple of guys in there paying for their cons and were about to leave. I knew I had to take pictures, and I wanted the shop all to myself, I had many questions for the seller too, so I waited. As soon as those guys exited Read the rest of this entry »

Wagamama has some new items; Beef Catsu Curry is now available. My friend who usually orders the Grilled Chicken catsu curry thought their grilled chicken version of the dish is better.

Have anyone tried this place? I did, twice, I liked the bread, pickles, sauce, cheese, veggies. But the meat needs serious improvement!

So far I tried the original (turkey) and the angus roast beef, everything in the sandwich was good except the meat itself. I feel like this place has a great sandwich waiting to be discovered! if you tried a real good one at this place, let us know.

The 3 guys behind Chocolate Farm sent us a sample of their desserts to review, and I got to use my little studio for a little photo shoot session!

New Prime and Toast Branch will be opening in AlBidaa, don’t know when but hopefully soon. The best spaghetti Bolognese (yes the best) can be found at this place!

Thanks Bader

The other day we had dinner at Shirin Banu restaurant, it’s Persian and Indian restaurant at the same time, I ate their twice but never tried the Indian food, their iranian dishes were really tasty. I tried the kebab, tekka, and reyash all of them were great.

In the ground floor you will find the reception and four privet rooms if u prefer to have your meal privately, and they all have huge tables in there that can fit, I think, more than 10 persons, the main restaurant however is located upstairs.

Tmreya is a traditional Kuwaiti dish that has been on our menus before we even knew what a menu is. It’s famous for it’s nutritious values and vitamins. The Tmreya dish was revived by a local business and is now back in a new shape with many different added flavors.

Tmreya offer the traditional dates puree dish with a twist that is both nicer and more practical. The tmreya served in a stick, and with different flavors, like; Cinnamon, Oreo, M&Ms, Darabeel, Marshmallow, Digestive, and many more. There are also 3 dipping sauces to choose from: Chocolate, Caramel, and Hardah هردة (Sesame paste / Tahini).

I like it that they took an old traditional dish and turned into a modern presentable dessert, exposing the new generation to the old recipe.

Tmreya is located in: Khaldiya and Qadsiya Co ops.

These litte velvet cakes were brought in at a gathering and they were a hit.

The place is called ButterMilk Bakery. The cake’s design looked cute and fun, it smelled good as well! I really loved the frosting, it was so sweet and buttery. The cake’s tasted less sweet which complimented the whole mix quite nicely.

I think they did a good job with this one, but the size was a bit bigger than expected. Midway through the cake I felt like they should’ve made the portions a little bit smaller. They have a bigger version of the velvet cake as well. Try them out they’re worth it.

The little ones are KD12 a dozen.
