Food Circle will be opening soon in Mishref, Its basically a food court but a bit fancier, where it will contain names like fridays and the likes instead of the usual fast food chains. All under one roof.

I love having toffee nut latte from starbucks and I look forward to it every year around november, it’s only available around christmas time, but there is a thing they do that annoys me.

The Toffee nut latte is different from regular lattes because they add 2 more ingredients. Only 2 things they add to transform this normal latte into a toffee nut latte. These 2 things are the toffee nut syrup, and the crunchy toffee sprinkles that they sprinkle on top. My problem is, the sprinkles has ran up, it’s out of stock in both of the two branches that I go to, but when I’m placing my order they don’t bother informing me that they no longer carry the sprinkles, they just go ahead, charge me the full amount and start preparing the toffee nut latter minus one of the two main ingredients.

If these 2 ingredients are what makes it a different drink, how can they take one out without informing the customer? This has happened the last year as well. Why not take it off the menu then?

I called some of the branches (all of Kuwait’s 71 branches are listed HERE) and I couldn’t find the sprinkles in any of the ones I called. I asked and one of the employees said “It’s been out of stock for over 2 weeks now” Another employee said “it’s out of stock for a week. Try one of the smaller branches some may still have them.”

I just wanted to know why are they still selling them if they’re missing 1 of the 2 ingredients. Eventually I called this one starbucks employee who was nice enough to get straight to the point “We’re trying to finish what is left of the toffee nut latte syrups and sprinkles because we should be done with this promotional drink by the 26th.. We’re having an offer on the syrup as well, it used to be KD3 and now it’s for KD1.250.”

So they’ve been selling their halfhearted promotional drink because they want to get rid of the remaining syrups before the deadline.

Most of us if not all know about Showaiter Sweets from Bahrain. Showaiter Sweets is Bahrain’s trademark, and you just can’t go to Bahrain without passing by and buy some Halwa for you relatives. And I always wanted to see the factory. I’ve seen how they make the Halwa on tv, but I had to go to the factory this time. I just had to. I asked around and learned Read the rest of this entry »

I was told that this place got it’s hands on a cook or 2 from Caesar sweets (7alawiyat Qay9ar) and is now selling Caesar’s famous pizzas, croissants and other pastry dishes.

I tried some of their stuff and the pizza tasted good but not as good as Caesar’s since the dough was a bit dry and then over sauced. The Croissants however were identical! (Shameless recipe theft) Read the rest of this entry »

When I first heard about the idea of a modern Kuwaiti cafe I remember thinking “why would I go to a starbucks wannabe and have Kuwaiti milk at an outing?” That was harsh, I know, but that was how I felt. But then after trying their Cardamom & Saffron Milk at work, that thought evaporated. Having that Kuwaiti milk in a paper cup at work cozied up the place. I totally changed my mind about the place! I think it’s an amazing idea and I wish them the best of luck.

The current branch is located right behind Gulf Bank’s head office. And I was just told that Haleeb w Hail, the new modern “Kuwaiti” cafe is opening up another branch at the Avenues.

Thanks Om Hamoody

We went to Wagamama restaurant in 360 mall the other day, and we chose to sit outside. They have this outdoor sitting area with a nice atmosphere. I enjoyed the setting even though it’s in a closed place and I thought it’s very nice place to have your meal, but you have to go prepared Read the rest of this entry »

I told you one time about Applebee’s and their Cowboy BBQ Sirloin Fajitas. I just went to their Mishref branch and had the same order again. I asked the waitress to make sure the fajita is cooked to medium, and again I was surprised at how good it is (we’re talking about Applebee’s here, so when I say good, I mean by their standards). This fajita is juicy and tender when it’s medium. I like it.

I had lunch at the Noodle House recently to try out their new addition to the menu. They added Green Chicken Curry, a dish I used to worship back in Dubai. Unfortunately it was way below my expectations.. it was too spicey (take into consideration that I’m a spicey food lover myself) I couldn’t enjoy the food because of how hot it was, and the chicken was a bit on the stinky side, and the curry itself was too concentrated and thick. I hope they get their act together soon.

The Noodle House has new dishes to it’s menu. This is good news to me since I used to go there at least twice a week when I was studying in the UAE. I used to always have their green chicken curry, it was one of the best green curries till they took off the menu.. I hope the Kuwaiti version is as good.

Afandi Season_1

My Father and Mother buy Afandi (Tangerines) around this time of the year, every year since I was a little kid. They would sit in the living room and eat some, and the smell would spread across the living room and the entire house. It’s smell proved to be infectious and every member of my family would smell it and then ask for some, and the smell only got worse with every peel of those Afandis.

I used to not like it’s smell but 20 years of Afandi got me accustomed.

La Maison's Mini Fondue Cake 1

One of our friends brought a couple of dozens of these Mini Fondue Cakes to the dewaniya yestreday. The cakes are little and almost a bite size. I thought they were reaally good, they were a smash actually, I ate atleast 6 pieces.

Nothing too special about them except they had this quality to them where you can’t stop picking one after the other. The little cakes had soft texture, as if they were underbaked, and the chocolate inside remained soft and melted even though they were cold.

I think this Home based business needs more exposure coz I know many of you will end up loving these mini fondue cakes.

KD2.5 for the dozen, and KD2 for delivery. Contact # 94011612

Thanks Ban1

We were recommended this cafe by a couple of people, we were told that it’s an old classic cafe near hotel le maurice, and that it serves one of the best hot chocolates in Paris. We got there and it was crowded, the tables were mostly full, and the place is huge inside, so yeah it was crowded. We ordered a club sandwich because we were starving, a tuna club sandwich Read the rest of this entry »

When we first decided to go to Singapore I’ve tried to do some Google search on the restaurant there, and wrote a list of restaurant to choose from, one of them was Lawry’s whose kitchen was spotless thanks to the local restaurant hood cleaning service. Let me first talk about it’s theme, well it reminded me a lot of Entrocote but not the food, it doesn’t have a set menu or any thing but I mean the decor and the waitresses who dressed like a french maids.
