This video isn’t real, it is made by a group of drama students from Gwent county in the UK. It is however a bit graphic. I think you all should watch this video nonetheless, it just shows how we take some serious things like concentrating on the road while driving so lightly.
The Spa time is now open at the avenues phase II and it looks magnificent from the outside. It is unfortunately only for women. I’d love to have a spa open at one of the malls that would cater to men as well.
We were discussing the swine flu topic today and someone raised this question: Why does Kuwait have this high percentage of swine flu cases compared to neighboring countries?
A Doctor was present and he had this to say:
“Take the number of cases discovered in Kuwait and compare it to the cases discovered at country X, and then take the number of deaths caused by the swine flu in Kuwait and again in country X, you’d find the that Kuwait’s percentage is much smaller than the other country’s. This tells us that in Kuwait we have more “reported” cases than other countries because we are more able, financially, to test and discover those cases, whereas in other countries they don’t bother to test each sick individual for swine flu.
It costs too much to test for the swine flu. Actually it costs the hospital much less to treat you and provide the necessary medication than to just test you. The UK for example started treating patients who have the symptoms without testing them first (depends on the severity of their symptoms). But since we’re in Kuwait, every person with the swine flu symptoms get tested, and thats why we have a relatively a high number of cases discovered compared to other countries.
And to add something, the numbers will double soon, but that’s not because the outbreak just got worse or bigger (That’s what Kuwaitis like to say at diwaniyas), but the truth is, it’s because a new lab dedicated to swine flu tests just opened, And naturally this new lab will report more cases as the amounts of tests increase.”
The M7albiya (Muhalabiya) is a great way to make sure that you don’t wake up in the morning with a 7aarij (heart burn), especially during ramadan where you’re left helpless throughout the day.
We prepare many cups similar to the one pictured above, and we all make sure to eat some later at night after our last meal. It works like magic, and prevents the 7arij every time. It’s very easy to make too.
To prepare a muhalabiya all you need is:
Milk
Sugar
Starch
Rose Water
A big table spoon of starch and sugar for each cup of milk, it depends on the quantity you’re making. I would add more sugar, but thats me. Rose water is optional, a table spoon would be more than enough if you ask me.
Begin by adding all of the things mentioed above together in a pot while it’s still cold, then begin heating and stir. Keep stirring til it thickens, then pour into little cups and put em in the firdge till they cool.
You can add some fruits or nuts on top, But thats really unnecessary, After all we’re trying to avoid 7arij here.
Voila! Bon Appétit!
Note: While you’re in the kitchen and have some starch lying around, you might wanna check this post out and make use of the excess starch!

I’ve been attending diving classes for the past 3 days at Bubbles diving center. I don’t know how my friend bo9ale7 convinced me to join, I’m not the sportish type; I never really think of ‘activity’ when considering an outing… coz well, let’s just say I’m more of a restaurants person 😛 But I wouldn’t have thought that I’d enjoy diving this much!
The diving lessons started on Monday and will be ending on Saturday. Over the last 2 days we were studying the basics of diving with Captain Abdulrahman AlSarheed over at Bubbles diving center. The classes were very informative, and have done a nice job preparing us for the real thing.
Today, the 3rd day into the course, we got to practice what we were taught. We went to a huge swimming pool in Al Araby club in AlMansouriya. The experience was magical. Going in with all those diving gears and breathing under water was one of the most special things I’ve done, ever.
I’m too tired to keep writing after the dip in the pool, but rest assured a full review of the experience and Bubbles diving center will be published once I get my Beginners License.
Since this issue of eating or not eating non-Halal meat got some good response we thought you might be interested in this iPhone application called Zabiha, which is a good guide for all Halal restaurants and mosques around the world. It costs only $2.99 on iTunes store.

Just checked Mark’s blog an found out about this very concerning news. I did some googling anf found out that the disease, according to the officials, haven’t spread among the civilians, yet, just the unspecified number of US troops, and that the patients are being taken care of and some have been deported back to their country.
From ABC news:
A number of United States soldiers who passed through Kuwait have swine flu, a health official says, adding there are no cases among Kuwaitis.
Undersecretary of Health Ibrahim al-Abdulhadi told the official KUNA news agency the unspecified number of soldiers were immediately isolated at the US base in Arifjan, 70 kilometres south of the capital.
He said they were given the necessary medication and that most had left the country.
An unspecified number of others were kept for treatment at the base hospital. No details were given on their condition.
Mr Abdulhadi said Kuwait itself was free of the disease. These are the latest exipure reviews.
How to Stay Healthy During Flu Season
Spring may be approaching, but flu season is still going strong.
Usually hitting people during the colder months of the year, the flu is easily spread by several strains of the influenza virus. Its symptoms are characterized by body aches, headaches, a high fever, fatigue, a sore throat and sometimes a runny nose. Cold and flu symptoms can often be confused with each other, but the most common difference is that the flu and its symptoms come suddenly while a cold comes more gradually.
Keep in mind too that flu symptoms vary from age group to age group. You may not experience some of the flu symptoms that your kids experience, like vomiting or diarrhea. Younger children, infants and adults over 65 years old are particularly prone to getting the flu, but that doesn’t mean that anyone not in those age groups are immune to it.
The flu can affect anyone and leaves those infected feeling drained of energy. What you can do to help reduce your chances of getting the flu? Start with these 7 ways for staying healthy during flu season.
Wash Your Hands
This can’t be said enough. Keep your hands free from germs and the flu virus by washing your hands when you come in contact with someone who does have the flu or after you’ve been in a public place.
Keeping hands clean works best when you use soap and water to wash your hands and not just hand sanitizer. Some hand sanitizers fail to kill all of the bacteria that can make you sick and compromise your immune system. Learn more about healthy supplements at sandiegomagazine.com.
Avoid Touching Your Face
The flu virus can be spread when someone touches an item or surface that a person with the flu has touched. The virus will spread fast if you touch your face with that virus still on your hands. So don’t touch your nose, mouth or eyes before you wash your hands thoroughly.
Distance Yourself
More often than not, though, the virus is airborne, spreading to people nearly 6 feet away when someone with the flu virus coughs, talks or sneezes. If you can, try to avoid crowded, public places during flu season. While you shouldn’t hole yourself into your home all winter, keep your distance with people you know are sick, and frequently wash your hands when you do venture out.
Diet
When you hear “diet” you may first think that just means decreasing daily calorie counts. But to help prevent against the flu, try to adopt a diet with less sugar and more unprocessed foods. These foods better support your immune system, as do lots of fluids. Keep yourself hydrated as part of your diet too. For more information visit Observer.com.
Relax
Sometimes you just need to take a break. Flu season is no exception to that rule. Getting enough rest is one important way to help prevent getting the flu. But too much stress can make it hard for you to sleep. Long-term stress may even weaken your immune system.
If you’re feeling stressed, find ways that help you to calm yourself down. For some, that’s meditating every morning or taking a warm bath at night. Find what best helps you to relax and unwind.
Get Out and Get Active
Stepping outside to get some sunlight is a natural way to take in vitamin D, which will also help boost your immune system. If you spend your days inside an office, take 10 minutes to walk outside and get a little bit of sunlight. Or get your vitamin D by exercising outside. Exercise is another way to help reduce stress and keep you healthy, in turn helping to prevent you from getting sick.
I was recommended this Spa by Ansam, and since I’m making it my duty to find the best massage place in Kuwait, I went.
The place isn’t hard to find at all, it’s in Salmiya, gulf road, the right after Divas restaurant then the third building on the left. It’s a men’s spa and SalonTouch Studio, haven’t tried one of those before. It isn’t big, the salon is upfront and the spa is in the back, however it is very nicely designed with a modern feel. The people working there and the reception was very nice and warm. Even when I asked about the possiblity of taking pictures they were all smiles and approved immediately (this isn’t the case most of the times with spas). Read the rest of this entry »
I’ve been hearing about this spa for a long time from friends, and as I was telling my friends this weekend that I needed a massage and that I probably will go to The Day Spa, which is my favorite massage place in all O the land, my friend Ban1 told me, for the 10th time, that I should consider going to the one in crown plaza hotel. He said that it is the best place in Kuwait. So, as a massage fan and more importantly as a blogger looking for good material for you readers, I went to Aquatonic Spa and took my camera with me. I think we’d live longer if we had rain once every 3 days in Kuwait*
So last week in the chalet I took some pictures of the flowers growing wildly right infront of our chalet and on the beach. The pictrues turned out nicely, imo, which got me thinking as I was editing the hell out of them.. What if it rained every 3 days in Kuwait for, say, 3 or 4 years.. what would happen? I think We’d live longer. But how?
Months ago, when I was having massages like crazy, I came across this piece of info and was excited and about to post about it.. till I discovered that the spa is for girls only. So here we go girls, for those of you who don’t know about the Banyan Tree, click HERE to get a better idea. It’s in Royal Hyatt hospital in aljabriya.
