Do you remember when I was looking for the BandLuxe router? well a couple of days ago I got a phone call from Hameed telling me that it is available in Hawalli for KD51. I wanted and needed one. So I went ahead and bought it.
Since this is my second 21.6 Mb/s router after the Dovado 3GN router, I’m going to go through the same review process, which will be based on:

Shape
I’m going to compare it to the Dovado 3GN coz I thought that one was relatively very small, but not anymore. The Bandluxe R300 is even smaller. Dimensions of 103.2 x 116 x 24 mm. Weight 170g.

Installation & Compatibility
The installation process was a absolutely easy, no updating for the firmwall to get the advantage of the highest speed like the Dovado 3GN, just plug your sim card & set your APN to hspps and thats it! its really fast and easy, and also you can do the installation with Mac unlike the other routers i came across.
Speed
This is awesome you will get almost the same speed that you used to get with the USB. I get great speeds, But when the weather isn’t clear, I get around 350-400 kbps.
Price
Its KD51 which I think is a reasonable since its unlocked (huge plus). So you can use Zain, Wataniya and VIVA sim cards. your call!
Drawbacks
i don’t think their is a drawback for this router at the moment.
Conclusion
I don’t have anything bad to say about it. I recommend it.

Hi, I just purchased this router and I can’t seem to have the ethernet sockets to work. I have my configuration as Automatic – DHCP but that doesn’t seem to work at all! :S
I’m reaaaallly getting frustrated!
Just bought this router and using my zain 14.4 chip. Whats the apn settings you used? I used pps, but my speeds are comparable to using the 7.2 Mbps stick. In the apn setting there are 3 fields: APN, username, and password. Can you tell me what you put in those fields? Also what authentication type are you using? I had to change mine to PAP in order for it to work. I think i might upgrade to the 21 Mb chip and use the same settings as you.

I upgraded to the 21Mbps chip. When I run a speed test i’m getting only 380 kb/s download, and 90 kb/s upload. Either my settings are wrong or zain is giving me the wrong chip
Faisal, change ur user name, password and apn to hspps .. All of them should be hspps and you gonna see the change
I changed my username, password and apn to hspps…but i’m not getting an ip address. I will exchange my zain chip today or tomorrow and hopefully it will work. Thanks for your help.
I exchanged the chip…it works!!!! It seems the older chip wasnt connecting to the 3.5G network. I’m getting much faster speeds, but to be honest I was expecting it to be faster. The speed kind of fluctuates…I ran speed test yesterday and only got 600 kb/s. I ran it again today and got 1455 kb/s.
Thanks for the help. Overall its a decent router…never hangs up or needs to be restarted. Its the only sim card router in the market, so its not a bad option.
