We arrived at Dubai’s airport 40 minutes late due to some annoying bearded guy who refused and his family to sit in the seats they were given. The guy didn’t stay onboard for long coz he didn’t accept the seats given and they didn’t have any choice other than letting him off the plane. The reason of the delay and the apologies were announced over the speakers atleast 5 times, They were quite mad at the bearded guy when they phrased the reason. Anyway, As soon as we arrived we rented a car and headed to Burjman. We window-shopped for a bit and then went to The Noodle House; The happiest place on earth.
I’m a big fan of The Noodle House. I used to eat there 2wice a week when I was studying there.. I was happy they decided they wanna eat there. It’s been like 5 months since I last ate there, and I missed it.
The food is unparalleled, no matter where I go and how many chinese/Asian dishes I try, The Noodle House remains the best in every way.
We’re planning on taking Dubai by storm and make the most out of the little time we have here.

Yes its weird, Accident in the parking lot? From the pics it shows that it happend in Dubai.. i’m wondering about the car’s speed when this thing happened.
Emirates is ready to establish their new route from Dubai to New York very soon, ofcourse with the new double decked airplane, the A380. Here is more about it:
“Emirates was quick to recognise the potential of Airbus’ revolutionary design when it was first introduced in April 2000, and was the first airline to place an order – and is now by far the biggest single A380 operator, with 58 new aircraft due to join the Emirates fleet.
When the Emirates A380-800 makes its maiden passenger-carrying flight, we will for the first time be able to transport more than 500 passengers in a single aircraft, with the same levels of comfort and service that has made us the world’s fastest-growing airline.”
“The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday conducted tests to induce artificial rain, which yielded light to medium showers in some areas of the country.
The Meteorological Department at the National Centre of Meteorology and seismology (NCMS), used planes to sprinkle cloud seeding salts in moist clouds heading towards Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain, the Emirates news agency said.
Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification, used mostly to increase precipitation, by introducing particles into moist clouds.
The monitoring stations have already registered light to medium rainfalls in different areas of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the agency said, adding the Centre is planning to repeat the tests tomorrow.”
We need these kind of experiments in Kuwait Instead of spending money on tiling every sandy area and changing the roads on every traffic intersection from asphalt to tiles. We should be spending the money on these kind of things instead.
The elections period is finally over and I just want to say Congrats to those who lost and hard luck for those who won in this parliamentary election, and With that being said, and everything going back to normal (hopefully) in Kuwait, what is there to talk or write about other than a good old restaurant review 😀
Shabestan In Crown Plaza hotel is the restaurant for me whenever I’m in a mood for a nice iranian meal.
The restaurant is never too busy and you can always go there without prior reservation. The atmosphere is very warm, real and authentic (if you can overlook the multinational staff), I like that the place has many little seating areas, giving it a cozy feel. One of the things that first caught my attention was their attention to details in everything from the furniture, the paintings on the wall, the carpets.. down to their chinaware.
The food. Now the food obviously is whats keeping me loyal and coming back this restaurant. Surprisingly I’m not a big fan of traditional iranian food. Kebabs, Humus and iranian bread are not among the things I like to eat when I’m in a restaurant, But I go there for their Halim Bathenjan (a puree of aubergine, lamb, fried onion strips and traditional kashk) for starters & my favorite Baghalah Polo-Ba-Mahicheh (leg of lamb cooked in its own juices over a slow fire for hours and seasoned with spices and broad beans with my choice of rice) for the main course. The only thing I wish they’d work on is there stews. I love me some Ghormeh Sabzi, but theirs are not really special. Other than that, there food is to die for.
The staff is friendly and very efficient. when you first sit there, they offer complimentary Iranian greens with salty white cheese and freshly baked iranian bread (baked infront of you).
The restaurant, in my opinion, is one of the most consistent restaurants I’ve been to, which is a great quality in a restaurant if you ask me. I never go there more than once a month, and when I’m there, I expect a perfect meal, and they never fail to meet my expectations.
Rumors have been circulating in the media all through last week about this surprise wedding. Now its confirmed, she got married to Nick Cannon, and who’s a better source of confirmation than the big O herself?

I knew something would get in my way of seeing Mariah in Dubai. I just knew. Now watch her cancel the show and the promoters refund our money.
Edit:
Just as predicted, the concert got canceled and they’re refunding our money.
I was told that the tickets are selling out, especially the better ones. Thankfully we, I mean loco, managed to buy us 2 tickets. I hope everything goes well coz there are unsettling rumors going around and canceled appearances on BET, TRL and The View, I just hope she makes it to Dubai.
If you’re planning on getting good tickets, book through the internet coz they’re sold out in most outlets in Dubai.
If you’re thinking of attending Mariah or Fergie’s concerts in Dubai on the 15th and 16th of May, respectively, then you should sign up for the tickets right now and get on that waitlist they’ve put up. I’m not sure why they’re offering a waitlist option for those events, usually waitlists are for unconfirmed events.. wait a minute.. *Gasps*
Anyway, Here is the LINK, go reserve your tickets and they’ll contact you as soon as they become available for sale.
Mariah is doing a concert in Dubai in around 2 weeks, on the 15th of May to be specific, followed by a concert by Fergie on the 16th.
“Music fans can enjoy a double helping of diva in Dubai with confirmed concert dates for the world’s number one-selling female artist Mariah Carey and former Black Eyed Peas Fergie.
Universal Music has this week confirmed the world-renowned artists will perform at Dubai Festival City with back-to-back concerts on May 15 and 16.
Promoting her new album, E=MC², which this week hit the top of the Billboard charts, Carey will perform first on Thursday, May 15, followed by Fergie the following evening.
Rebecca Brianceau, of Universal, Dubai, said the label was extremely excited to be bringing two such wonderful artists to Dubai back-to-back. “We are so excited about the concerts and cannot wait to welcome the ladies to the UAE. We are expecting great things on both nights.”
The venue holds a capacity crowd of 15,000 and tickets for both concerts are expected to sell out in a matter of days.”
As of now, if all went well and nothing serious stood in my way, I’ll be going o chinnnnnnaa il3eeeeeeed! 😀
I never knew Bahrain had started a low cost airlines. Their fleet consists of 2 airplanes, a boeing 737 and an airbus A320.
“Bahrain Air, the first privately owned Premium Low Priced Carrier (PLPC), started operations on 3rd. February 2008 using modern Airbus “A320″ fleet, operates from Bahrain to Alexandria, Amman, Beirut, Damascus, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait and Mashad. By April 2008 the destinations will be extended to include Dhaka in Bangladesh”
Currently there are no routes to Kuwait. but there will be in the future.
Do you know that in the past 5 years 5 new airlines started their operations in the gulf region alone?
In 2003, Air Arabia & Etihad Airways. Jazeera Airways in 2005 And in 2007 Bahrain Air. And I think somewhere in 2008 we will get Alwataniya Airways. Its getting a bit too competitive. (7i6 7ailhom bainhom)
Update:
Apparently there are more and more carriers popping up every day 😛 Mr. Solutions told us in his comment that Dubai has just annouced their own verion of low cost carriers! read more about it Here.
A few days ago I got a letter from Oula Fuel Marketing Company thanking me for my posts regarding their new machinesand theirmini mobile shops.
Thanks for the nice gesture. 🙂
I love it when I see new promising companies in Kuwait. Finally we have companies that actually care for their customers and go out of their ways and look into blogs just to see how we’re reacting to their new services! I mean, Thats awesome isn’t it?
Oh, but, don’t get me wrong, I do think the Oula company is great and all, but I still think it needs lots of work to reach its full potential. We’re still waiting for mini markets/stores/groceries, just like the ones in Dubai (in Emirates stations to be specific 😉 )
I love Kuwait and I love seeing us breaking the mold and trying to catch up. Inshallah We’re going to get there one day.
P.S. if anyone from Oula and reading this, Can we know more about your future plans?
Anise, A newly opened Restaurant in Dubai’s Intercontinental Hotel in Festival City.
Me and loco went to this beautifully designed restaurant a few days ago. its a multinational buffet kind of restaurant where there are multiple live stations cooking food live & per request. Unfortunately I couldn’t take pictures of the main dish(s) coz we were too hungry to be bothered. I’m gonna let the pictures do the talking now 🙂
We were there by the shuttle buses location around 5:30pm and in less than a minute we were on the bus and on our way to the concert venue. everybody was excited and brought their picnic carpets and little cushions. Me & loco went with just our tickets in hand. the shuttle took 5 minutes and we were there. the place didn’t look crowded, actually it looked empty! it didn’t fill up until the last 5 minutes.
As we entered, we noticed lots of people carrying their cameras and no one was stopping them. so loco volunteered to go and bring my camera from the car. and I promised him to keep an eye on his little spot on the grass until he comes back. he went on a bus back to the parking area, lost the tickets, got yelled at by the bus driver and lost 3 kilos from a very long walk. meanwhile, i was being mocked and yelled at by a lebanese witch. she came with her husband and wanted to spread their carpet on loco’s spot!
i just said: my friend is sitting here, he’s coming back. Husband: he’s gonna take this whole place?! this whole place?! Me: No, just this spot *points to the spot near me* Husband: ALL of this spot?! all of it?! Me: NO NO JUST THIS LITTLE 0.5 meter by 0.5 meter! Witch: so your friend is going to sit next to You RIGHT? Me: YES. *the witch fell to her knees, almost breaking mine, and sat EXTREMELY close to me and said* Witch: so this is how your friend is going to sit??? *and then looked at her husband* OK, now spread the rug next to me! *looks at me* ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!? Me: isloobich raw3a. Witch: *gave me a patronizing look and looked away*
I couldn’t say a word. i was really angry, but i could say anything, which made me even more angry.
less than 10 mintues later, her husband went away, called her on the phone and she started packing and then left. just before going away, she said “you can have this whole place for yourself now!”
loco came back 45 minutes later with the camera! hurraaay!
we waited until 8:20. The crowd stood up and were pushing us against the barrier when some lights and smokes were flashing on stage. by 8:30 Celine appeard! just on time 🙂
The concert started with a little clip. then she bursted into “I drove all night.” it was a nice song to start up the concert. she was amazing as ever!
The Setlist:
I drove all night
The Power Of Love
Taking Chances
Its all coming back to me now
To love You More
Because You Loved Me
I’m Your Angel (with her background singer)
Eyes On Me
Alone
We Will Rock You
The Show Must Go On
All By Myself
Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore
Its a Man’s world
Love Can Move Mountains
And some other Covers and songs from her catalog.
She rocked each and every song and gave it her all. It was all great. The Audience was into her and her songs. She said “Ana Ahebbak” and “Shokran.” She took a moment to thank us, and told us how a great an audience we are. She also talked a bit about Dubai, and that she’s been here for 3 days and already know why everybody talks about Dubai. “its the city of tomorrow, its the city of the future” she said.
She sang a song and then said her goodbyes and left. The audience were still not satisfied and some were angry she didn’t sing my hear will go on “The Titanic Song.” loco looked at me with an 😮 face, and I said “she’ll come back for an encore.” and She did! 😀 she came back and sang The “Titanic Song.”
It was an amazing night. lots of pushing, shoving and witches, but totally worth it.
