Yesterday Me and INM went to Marina Crescent to eat breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien. The weather at first was a bit hot for INM’s taste (I was dying but kept a straight face coz i wanted to sit outside). INM suggested that we change our table, so we went and sat in a shady area, and thank God we did! The weather was absolutely amazing under shades! There was just the right amount of humidity + sun + breeze, to make us comfortable while eating our breakfast Brunch Lunch!

I returned the Croissant after taking the first bite coz they heated it up in the microwave without asking!

Birds were everywhere and INM started feeding them (He ate half of his omelette and gave the other half to the birds. He fed the birds eggs lol)

I really recommend going out in the mornings, I mean actually being out to enjoy whats left of our decent weather, coz you’ll find yourself struggling for air in no time. kho t3arfon 7arna may’3ashmir.

There is this new restaurant called Ayyame, It took Biella’s location, Anyone knows anything about it?

We went to Villa Fayrouz today. Its A lebanese restaurant. It draws it uniqueness from being almost like a monument dedicated to the legendary arab Diva, Fayrouz. Its decorated with her pictures and her music is played all the throughout the visit.

We ordered, like most Kuwaitis in lebanese restaurants almost everything in the menu, we ordered so much that we didn’t notice some of the dishes missing and were paid for without gracing our table.

I hate lebanese restaurants. I hate sharing food. “Joey doesn’t share food!!” 😛

And whats up with the worldwide fascination with lebanese food and their mezzas? I don’t get it. Why would anyone go to a restaurant and eat Humus? Why would anyone order salads that can be easily made in our homes? Kebab!!!!! Why would I go to a restaurant and eat Kebab!??!

Fattoush

This post is shaping up to be a venting post. 😛

The Osmalliyeh saved the day.
Osmalliyeh

I would just like to say something to make this post somewhat worth your while 😀 The food was superb. Everything tasted real nice. The last time I went to Villa Fayrouz was years ago. It sure has come a long way, and I think in a couple of years it can be a good contender for the 2nd position behind the Sheraton’s Al Tarboush.

The Restaurant is located in Alsha’ab. Overlooking Fahaheel Highway. Around 500 Meters before the 3rd ring road exit (if you’re heading north toward Kuwait City).

P.S. Don’t order their mohamarah. it tasted like cheap hot sauce.

tester_1.jpg

A few days ago Me, Bashar and 9K2HN decided to go to Dalag Es’hail Restaurant/Cafe which is located in Souq Almubarkiya to have something to eat. They have amazing Grills by the way. Anyway, after we finished 9K2HN suggested to have a look at a shop that specialized in…? Guess what?! Tester Perfumes! 😀

tester_2.jpg

The shop offers two kinds of perfumes:

  • Knockoff Perfumes.
  • Authentic Tester Perfumes. (Just want to mention that the tester perfume will last much longer than the normal ones, Thats why I prefer them).

tester_5.jpg

The price range for the Knockoff Perfumes was about KD3 – KD6, However the testers were around KD7.5 – KD10.

tester_3.jpg

The only problem with these testers is that they do not come with their original box. For me thats not a big deal!

Thanks Bashar & 9K2HN for inviting me, I had a blast. 😛

Mom has been doing this cake for over 20 years. Its one of her signature cakes. As simple as it may seem, Nobody has ever mastered it the way Mom does Every Single Time! 😛

From Mom’s cook book and exclusively (6al) to our blog, here comes the best Mud (chocolate) cake ever!

mud-cake-ingredients.jpg

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 Cup of Flour
  • 1 1/3 Cup of Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Cream (shown above. gamair)
  • 1/3 Cup of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/2 bar of butter (Size shown above)
  • 3 Table sp. Nescafe melted in 1/2 a cup of hot water
  • 2 Tea sp. Baking Powder.
  • 4 Aero Chocolates
  • 1 Flake
  • Sprinkle of salt

Mix all the ingredients together in a big mixer, leaving only the Aero, Flake & 1/2 the cream for later.

mud-cake-mix.jpg

Mix like crazy!
mud-cake-kenwood.jpg

Mix Mix Mix!

mud-cake-beat.jpg

Incase you were wondering whats inside the Cocoa tin 😛

mud-cake-cocoa.jpg

Oil Brush this thing
mud-cake-oil-wipe.jpg

Pour your mix in the thing and put in the oven for 35 on 350 degrees.

mud-cake-in-oven.jpg

Might as well make use of your time while you wait for the cake. Take out the 4 Aeros and melt them in a water bath (Mom used this word, Bath) with whats left of the cream (remember you mixed just half of it with the cake mix).
mud-cake-cover.jpg

Less than 5 minutes later it should look like this, Unburned!

mud-cake-cover-2.jpg

Take out your cake when the 35 minutes is up. It should look something like this.

mud-cake-out-of-oven.jpg

Cover it with the chocolate you melted earlier.

mud-cake-finishing.jpg

Sprinkle some of the flake (you get to eat whats left of the flake!)

mud-cake-done.jpg

And Voila!

mud-cake-tester.jpg

Note from Mom:

“Many Have asked me for this recipe & I turned many of them away. Making this Cake on your own is what makes it special. If you’re going to give this recipe to the maid, you won’t get the same results, been done many times and the results were always sub par, As they should be.”

Today me, my wife and INM decided to have our lunch in Johnny Rockets, we went to the Avenues branch and suddenly the dust comes out! Faj’ah zaad!! It changed our mood and made everything seems so… sad!

le-pain-quotidien-menu.jpg

Le Pain Quotidien, to many its just another cafe, But to me, its the home of my favorite egg benedict! 😀 Whenever I’m in the mood for a good breakfast and I happen to be able to get up in time, I go there and have one of the best breakfasts in Kuwait.

marina-mall_crescent.jpg

Last thursday was a great day for having breakfasts outdoors. We went to Le Pain Quotidien, Marina Crescent’s Branch. The weather was amazing, The weekend was starting early & I was really craving PQ! and the food was outstanding! as usual.

Omelette With Kashkawan Cheese

Waffles

One thing was off that day, their service. they were not organized and very.. disoriented? The waiters were not concentrating even when taking our orders! they’re always attentive and very professional but for some reason they weren’t that day.

fish_market.jpg

Today me, Ali and Abdullah were going for dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Just before we were there Ali noticed this new building which, at first, he thought was an Indian restaurant called Muhraja Palace.

dsc00328.jpg

This Restaurant is circle shaped and divided into two sections, 2 half circles, One is Fish Market (not related to the one near Marina Mall, and the other is Fusion.

dsc00321.jpg

Fish Market is a sea food restaurant and Fusion i think is either Japanese or Chinese. Both restaurants are owned by Americana. Both are going to be officially open in 15 days.

dsc00317.jpg

As you can see, the decoration must’ve costed them a small fortune! no i take it back, i think it costed them a HUGE fortune! You can see there are a fish tanks all over the place.

dsc00318.jpg

Here is the entrance for both restaurants.

dsc00326.jpg

Here is a part of Fish market restaurant. As you can see there are a lot of fish tanks. I think they’re there so u can choose the fish you’d like to eat and they cook it for you.

dsc00327.jpg

Thank You Abdullah for letting me use your mobile camera and thanks Ali for asking the employees all these quesion, which proved to be very helpful to this post 😀

ieatonline.jpg

I like t when it comes to competition. This is yet another site that share the same concept as 6alabat.com. But this one is exclusive to Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn’s restaurants.

From the site:

ieatonline.com is an online site which is operated by Crowne Plaza Kuwait. ieatonline.com is easy to remember & you can order online from the detailed menus of the international cuisines without visiting or calling to your favourite restaurant. Now you can enjoy the food in your home with your family & friends.

The delivery fees are 400 fils/order. 6alabat.com fees are 200 fils/order. I think they should reconsider their pricing.

HERE is their link.

UPDATE:

it seems that 6alabat has increased their price to 250 fils .

Thanks to   greyshorts
