I love having toffee nut latte from starbucks and I look forward to it every year around november, it’s only available around christmas time, but there is a thing they do that annoys me.

The Toffee nut latte is different from regular lattes because they add 2 more ingredients. Only 2 things they add to transform this normal latte into a toffee nut latte. These 2 things are the toffee nut syrup, and the crunchy toffee sprinkles that they sprinkle on top. My problem is, the sprinkles has ran up, it’s out of stock in both of the two branches that I go to, but when I’m placing my order they don’t bother informing me that they no longer carry the sprinkles, they just go ahead, charge me the full amount and start preparing the toffee nut latter minus one of the two main ingredients.

If these 2 ingredients are what makes it a different drink, how can they take one out without informing the customer? This has happened the last year as well. Why not take it off the menu then?

I called some of the branches (all of Kuwait’s 71 branches are listed HERE) and I couldn’t find the sprinkles in any of the ones I called. I asked and one of the employees said “It’s been out of stock for over 2 weeks now” Another employee said “it’s out of stock for a week. Try one of the smaller branches some may still have them.”

I just wanted to know why are they still selling them if they’re missing 1 of the 2 ingredients. Eventually I called this one starbucks employee who was nice enough to get straight to the point “We’re trying to finish what is left of the toffee nut latte syrups and sprinkles because we should be done with this promotional drink by the 26th.. We’re having an offer on the syrup as well, it used to be KD3 and now it’s for KD1.250.”

So they’ve been selling their halfhearted promotional drink because they want to get rid of the remaining syrups before the deadline.

We had a meeting a few weeks back, along with a couple of bloggers, with the people at Zain. We were told about this new payment method, among other interesting things. Read what is OnePay below, and if you have any question regarding OnePay, type your question in the comments box and we’ll have someone answering them for you!

“Zain have launched today a new web service under the name “Zain OnePay”. This new payment gateway unifies the previous three different payment options on Zain’s website (QuickPay, eeZee Fast, and eeZee cards). Once you enter your mobile number it will automatically identify your line type (Postpaid or Prepaid) and then leads you to the best options available for your mobile number. Add to that, the change in transaction speed; much faster now!”

A couple of days ago 4th Rig Road’s blog mentioned that Crocs store finally opened in Kuwait, So INM decided to go to Discovery Mall and have a look there, he noticed that the store is so tiny and not updated with the latest Crocs models. Well, atleast it opened in the right time since Crocs online is no more accepting our credit cards, even the Amex. So now our only way to get Crocs either by this store or by Amazon, but amazon doesn’t have a wide collection to choose from.

I took these pictures in AlZour area while passing by last weekend. I like what he did with the windows. Sometimes less is more! Simple tweaks like the engraved shutters on this house look nice! and probably costs nothing.

What a difference between the house above and this house HERE. Yikes!

American eagle first branch in Kuwait in march - alshaya

I posted a few months ago that Alshaya got a franchising agreement to get the American eagle to Kuwait & the Middle east.

My friend just told me that it’s going to open it’s first branch in Kuwait in march. It’ll be in the Avenues mall, and it’ll take Topman’s location.

It’ll also open it’s first branch in Dubai, 10 days before Kuwait’s.

Thanks Taymoor

When I first heard about the idea of a modern Kuwaiti cafe I remember thinking “why would I go to a starbucks wannabe and have Kuwaiti milk at an outing?” That was harsh, I know, but that was how I felt. But then after trying their Cardamom & Saffron Milk at work, that thought evaporated. Having that Kuwaiti milk in a paper cup at work cozied up the place. I totally changed my mind about the place! I think it’s an amazing idea and I wish them the best of luck.

The current branch is located right behind Gulf Bank’s head office. And I was just told that Haleeb w Hail, the new modern “Kuwaiti” cafe is opening up another branch at the Avenues.

Thanks Om Hamoody

We went to Wagamama restaurant in 360 mall the other day, and we chose to sit outside. They have this outdoor sitting area with a nice atmosphere. This was released by the NBK a few weeks ago. Whoever was behind this idea must’ve felt quite nostalgic for the good old days. I took pictures of every page, english and arabic, and all the pictures are clickable for a bigger view. Have fun going back in time Read the rest of this entry »

Someone told me today about this studio and how creative the guy who runs the place is. I took one look at his portfolio and thought this guy should get more exposure (not that he isn’t doing great mashallah, I was told he is booked for a solid week ahead). His pictures and ideas are refreshing.

“Hamad Alshaijy, is a kuwaiti Photographer, who has established his own Studio of Modern and stylish Photography. He has got his Diploma in photography from UK. He is One of the Memberes in the Kuwait Voluntary Work Center ( KVWC ) Photography and Documentary Team.”

His studio is located in Burj Jassim and it’s called Mémoire studio.
