Have you ever gone to work and found out that your mobile, watch or even civil ID at home? never mind with Mr. Delivery which was spotted by Abdullah can deliver your things whenever wherever you are. You just have to call them at 22 4949 44 and give them your home address and your current address and they will calculate the delivery price for you. I think its a good idea for those who forget there things easily like Yousef’s camera (alah yaster 3asa mansa shay el shemata mo zaina ) 🙂
Our friend over at Circus designs sent the following pictures of the Freeze Club and the Bowl Room at 360 Mall. I think it’s a nice change that we have such facilities in the malls now.
I don’t know who to blame, the envious countries claiming to be friends and allies only to jump and stab us from the back once they get a chance, or blame us, Kuwaitis and Kuwait as a nation and the way we “market” ourselves to the unfortunate countries around us, the countries which God did not bless with the fortune we have and enjoy.
Why are we so misrepresented? Someone needs to be pointed at and be blamed for that. In my opinion it’s not the people, coz the people helped till they grew skeptic with the amount of ungratefulness they saw and felt. Is it the government? Couldn’t they market Kuwait and shed a better light on the nation? I don’t know. It’s just frustrating.
I remember Mom telling me that we, Kuwaitis, since we got rich from the oil, we were always caring for other Muslim and Arab countries around us. Supporting them and being charitable towards them, and thats not just a move the governent is making for diplomatic purposes, but us the people too. My mother used to tell me how when she a little child in school, how everybody took it as a personal duty to fill all the little pigy bank (7a9ala) they used to hand out in schools whenever some country was in need. She remembers that she, even as a little child felt that it’s her duty to help, She used to fill up those 7a9alat every time, and it went without saying that every 7a9ala must be filled and handed back! clothes should be sent, blankets, tents, rugs, whatever those people needed, we must help. From Algeria’s days to Palestine to Somalia, Yemen..etc We always helped and helped a lot. Even I remeber how proud people were at my school when their name would be mentioned after handing back a full 7a9ala. Generation after generation we were taught to GIVE.
And now we here about iraqis accusing Kuwait of being greedy and “want to stir past conflicts”. And we have The Independent writing pieces about a “Stingy Kuwait”. Really? Are we really stingy? Were we ever that bad? Haven’t we done enough good deeds to shut all haters up? Yes we did, but it’s not marketed right. Or at least thats the only reason I could come up with.. Enlighten me if Ive missed something.
But for people to judge us because we still can’t forget that we were invaded (19 years today) and unwilling to give our right for reparation up.. I think it’s just a tad too much.
I’m not gonna read and edit the post coz I know I’m gonna have second thoughts and delete it.. so there.
I was reading confashion’s blog and found out that Vila Moda Al-Manshar will be replaced by their Warehouse, which i think its a good move from Vila Moda because i dont think it’s worth the ride there , but with this change i think i might have a look there inshallah soon.
I find this idea unique and interesting. Instead of flowers now you can send fruit baskets and a bouquets of fruits. It’s available in Kuwait next to AlMowasat Hospital. The company has a dealer in Kuwait, so you can choose the bouquet and get it delivered all online. I haven’t tried it yet.
I got it at the airport right after coming back from my trip, its really good in quality compared to the old one, and it looks good with the smart chip which Yousef’s wrote about it long back Here. And if you notice the GCC logo is attached on the back of the card itself.
Oh and by the way, if your current old ID is still valid, you can’t replace it with the new one due to the amount of people and the long queues.
Just arrived to Kuwait Airport from Mumbai which was 3 days in a row raining ! I couldn’t see Mumbai in detail due to long meetings which were starting from 9AM all the way to 5 PM .. Any how I’m happy that I’m back 🙂
It’s been reported in the papers that the number 112 will replace the existing 777 as the new emergency number. I didn’t know at first why would they change the existing one, especially since it’s already well known all over Kuwait. But then my friends told me that the # 112 is recognized world wide, and has been implemented and used in over 50 countries.
Another theory for the change: so they could use these numbers 777*****.
The number 777 will work till the end of the year, forwarding calls to the new number, once it’s launched. An awareness campaign will be launched once the change take place.
We got an email from a reader with the pictures above, asking for an explanation.
I called a friend and he told us that the ads above are made by Viva and they’re, according to my source, an introduction for Viva to roll out it’s new pricing plan, something to compete with Zain’s wiyana plan.
My source says “It’s illegal in Kuwait to make ads that mock a competing brand, yet there is a way to do so without being sued, and it’s by not using the other company’s logo” it wasn’t used in this case, and he concluded with “But it’s still unethical.”
I’m looking forward for a response to those ads! 😀
Thanks Noura
Update:
4th Ring Road have wrote about the topic too and there is a response to Viva, check it out:
We don’t know if the response was made by Wataniya or Zain, yet. But we sure know that this is turning to be so much fun!!
We went to AlHambra restaurant at the Sheraton the other day. We had a very bad experience over there. Something major went wrong with the dessert so we called the manager. He handled the problem in the worst way possible, I decided to leave the place and head back home, but my friend was so offended by the way he was treated that he stayed and took the problem to a higher level, then higher, till he reached the general manager.
At that point I was peacefully at home getting ready to sleep. My phone rang as I was getting into bed, and there was my friend telling me the following:
“I told the GM about the problem, and how they handled it, and he was more than great with me, he solved the problem, made feel better and just before leaving he insisted that I accept his offer. You won’t believe his offer.”
Me: What offer?
“He told me that you and your friend are invited to stay for 2 nights at one of the hotel’s suites, either at the 4 points or the Sheraton itself! We chose!”
Me: What!!?
“Even when I told him I’m not sure my friend would accept, he said that he is ready to pick the phone and call you and insist that you accept the offer! he asked for your phone number too”
We’re not decided whether we should accept this offer, but aside from that, isn’t that what all managers should do when a customer isn’t satisfied? I don’t mean every restaurant should get their unsatisfied customers a suite 😛 but just be professional about it, go that extra mile and show the people that you care and want to retain them as customers, for life!
They messed up big time, AlHambra and even the Sheraton’s image got shaken that day, but the way they ultimately handled the situation got me sucked right back in.
What do you say? Accept the offer or make a point by not accepting?
I just came back from Mishref’s Applebees and I’m stuffed. I just ate the perfect Medium Fajita ever!
I don’t usually bother eating at apple bees let alone order a steak dish, But there was no other option (My friend refused to go anywhere outside Mishref). Anyway. When the waitress asked me how I like my steak, I didn’t know what to say, Asking for a medium steak at apple bees is like asking somone to find a humble Kuwaiti; it is impossible. But I thought I’d give it a try..
Glenda: How do you like it to be cooked?
Me: I want a medium steak, but that is impossible to achieve in Kuwait, no one in here serve the steak as requested, in fact, I’ve been to most of Kuwait’s steak-serving restaurants and none brought me a medium steak (Gaucho did a couple of times). Look, I dare you to bring me a medium fajita.
Glenda: *stares at me* Ok I’ll talk to the chef.
My friend at that moment told me “lo 6ag’ha ib bo6ol il ketchup wayid abrak”
But guess what? My speech did it’s magic and I was served the best fajita ever! You know those picture perfect sliced steaks? the dark from the inside then gray from the outside.. That was exactly what I was served and it tasted extremely good.
I would’ve never guessed that of all places, I’d find the perfect medium steak at Apple bees.
Remember the Oum Kalthoom Exhibition that took place in Bahrain? Well it’s going to take place in Kuwait soon, on the 8th of July at the new 360° Mall to be specific. It’s going to last for awhile so no rush, but you gotta pass by it if you’re ever there, especially the photo gallery, take a look at them. I like looking at old pictures so I really enjoyed them back in Bahrain.
I think this site will be useful coz it can provide you with the name and the phone number for whoever you’re looking for.
From there site:
“With Residential Search you can look for any residential telephone number in Kuwait by typing the person name or any part of it. To be more specific you can select the governorate or area after making your general search”
In order to get the name you have to write the number in Arabic.
I don’t know if anyone is still interested in Nokia but in case there is any, just wanted to let you know that Nokia N97 is available in Kuwait with Arabic keypad, for KD220.

I Just got sms from 9K2HN telling me that Skype.com is no longer blocked by Fasttelco. Yet, I’ve checked with Zain, since it’s my ISP, and its still blocked. Can you fill us in if it’s working on other ISPs?
I finished my beginner course on saturday and the only thing left is to have the written exam to get my diving license for beginners. After finishing my course I looked up full face snorkel mask reviews, to find the best snorkel mask for myself.
