For all of the Kuwaiti and maybe Arab Girls out there, Mom got something to say about the way the Kuwaiti 3aza has changed and how the 3 days that follows, where women gather in the grieving family’s house to offer condolences, is no longer about offering support and consolation!
Mom wrote this next part:
“It was no easy duty to go and condole a woman on her loss, It wasn’t easy for other relatives to see a member of their family suffer and go through those horrible days. It was a simple gathering where everything revolved around the family and their grief. it was simple yet very heavy, intense and somber experience. Therefor not everybody was allowed to go, only the eldest of the family would go and represent the rest and do the necessary (wajib). The place where the guest would be seated was never big or specially set up for the sad occasion. It was a small hall where the guests would stay QUIET for awhile, Read some Quran, Offer their support and condolences and then leave to make room for other guests. The atmosphere used to be filled with silence, Sadness and above all Respect for the grieving women and her family.
Fast-Forward to present day’s 3azas. Things have changed a lot since people had feelings and consideration. Nowadays Everybody goes to 3azas (not for the right reasons). Even little girls are brought to the 3azas. With their hair on their shoulders, Their little plated jewelry and their dazed eyes. The grownups haven’t spared us either, they attend wearing their topnotch abayas, filled with swarovski crystals and what not. Abayas suitable for weddings rather than 3azas!
Some even went as far as wearing makeup. The new type of makeup, the “Sad occasions” makeups. And we find the supposedly grieving family now setting the place up so that it can seat as many people as possible, going out of their way (and sadness) to make the people comfortable and make sure they “enjoy” their say. We find them renting chairs and filling up the place with as many chairs as possible, turning the place into a little cinema, a little show, a shameless masquerade.
The once feared and respected occasion has become just another place for gatherings. For relatives to see each others and pass their hellos. I often hear the salams and the sowalif (chitchats) now. oh and the salams are not passed with soft-voices either! And the nerve on some of the women… I personally heard a woman say to her friend one time “I’m so happy I ran into you on this wonderful occasion!” –> “monasaba sa3eeda o imbaareka iny shiftkom!”
fa hal hatha min mazaya taqadomna?
am min masawe2 ta2akhurna?”
I tried my best to capture Mom’s words and this is the best i could do. she was much more eloquent though. 😛

Today Me & my family decided to have our lunch at Sarai restaurant. It’s a combination of Syrian, Armenian and Turkish food. The word Sarai is from turkish origins and means The Castle (According the waiter).
I didn’t expect the restaurant to be this busy (Thank God i made the reservation yesterday!) The place was almost full, I would’ve taken more pictures of the restaurant if it wasn’t so crowded!
The appetizers were delicious esara7a, I loved and enjoyed them, Even though i was surprised to find out that they don’t serve some of the famous mazzat (appetizers) like fried chicken wings with garlic and and grilled Hallom cheese. The starters were the hightlights, but when you reach the maincourses stage, I’m sorry to say that there is nothing special about them.
Over all the restaurant’s atmosphere is suitable for families, Just make sure to reserve before going.
In my opinion it deserves 4/5 due to the place being small and their main courses being bland.

There is a new Knafa place in town and its called “Albal Knafa.” the first time i heard about it was when we had a family gathering and they hired the knafa guy to set up a knafa section and prepared it right infront of us. it was obviously very fresh when we started inhaling it. it tasted great, better than most knafas out there (its up there with 6aibawy’s).
My brother yesterday brought us some, I it wasn’t as good as it was that day when they had the guy fixing it up. Best way to eat it is to have the knafa guy come to your house or wherever ur having ur dinner party.. u won’t regret it!
I think the guy comes to ur place if you order a minimum of 5 kilos knafa which costs around 25 kd.

Yes, we should lighten up. We should take things less seriously. We should always compromise and accept new questionable things into our lives. What’s with the people nowadays always clinging to their traditions and what they believe in? Don’t they know we’re in the grey age now? Don’t they know that the less you standout the better it is for everyone else?
Lets be less opinionated and more with the flow…..
So what if we celebrated a pagan occasion?
So what if we celebrated the memory of a Christian priest?
So what and so what again?
We can always go with the flow…
Its easier…
So lets just go with the flow until we are so far away we can’t even look back to where we were.
*yes i’m being sarcastic and i have a headache*

My friend just called me and said that all of the three highways to Kuwait City (Fahaheel, Almaghreb and Alma6ar highways) are jammed with cars! he said coz the belajat (gulf) road is closed. Even INM called me and said it took him 1.5 hr to come back home.
i dont know why they r closing it? preparation of Hala Feb.? Maybe.
UPDATE:
Ali just sent me some pics that shows how crowded the streets were. According to him the blajat (Gulf) street was closed due to constructions from Al abraj (kuwait towers) to Marina Mall, there for, it will remain closed for the next 72 hrs. Traffic ticket attorney Missouri successfully handles traffic matters.
Here are more pics.
Thank You Ali for taking these pics.

My mom loves Martha Stewart’s cooking, so INM went ahead and ordered some of Martha’s cookies for her. We received it a week ago, me and INM were expecting real cookies.. but only after we started opening the packaging we discovered that we made a mistake, and that we ordered the cookies’ DOUGHS and not real baked cookies! mahagainaa walah ena chethy ! 😛 we eneded up, me and my wife, baking them ourselves.
As you can see above it got three packs in it, Sugar, Chocolate and Cookie Mix.
Here are the cookies! the pack is enough to make around 36 pieces. it says after preparing the cookie dough “put the cookies in the oven for 15 mins” but they ended up spending around 10 minutes only.. we like our cookies soft 😀 a7eb a7es’hooom eshwaya 3ayeeeen !! and they r REALY tasteeeeeeeeeeeey!
if u want to order, a pack will cost u 3KDs. I think its very well priced.. KDD take a some notes 😛 Click HERE. to order.

There are 2 kinds of heinz ketchup out there. one is manufactured in egypt and the other in the US. their taste is different. so heads up! you can tell by looking at their labels. if you see any arabic translation then its the cheap err.. i mean, its the one from egypt. 😀
If you already know about this and don’t think there is a difference in taste, well, then might as well cut ur costs.. coz there are always the award winning ketchups like this one here:

it was recommended by My dear friend INTER. he said their sandwiches would remind me of the late hungry bunny chain. and it kinda did!
i ordered 2 sandwiches and a fries. the super bunny sandwich (whopper look alike) and the roast beef sandwich. let me start by saying that i do not consider this restaurant a real restaurant, not a real fast food joint, nope, i think of it more like albatriq and sahran kinda of restaurants. mcdonald’s would be gourmet food next to these 😛 . anyway, their super bunny was nice, it was a cross over between the whopper and the big deluxe. i liked it and it did remind of of the real super bunny.
now the roast beef sandwich was reaal nice! i was surprised! they use real roast beef! i don’t know how to explain it.. i liked the quality of their roast beef (although a bit chewy) but nevertheless, it was good and the meat was kind of thick and full of flavor (the tomato and lettuce had to go though). my only criticism and the only thing that bothered me was the quality of their mayonnaise. it had an eggy taste.. yukh.
Overall its a nice little place for when you crave junk food yet u’re sick from the usual places. I personally would definitely go back for their roast beef. and when i’m a bit nostalgic, i’d go for their super bunny 😀 oh and i loved their buns! so fresh!
Its located in hawalli, facing the 4th ring road, just opposite the Royale Hayat hospital.

A few days ago and after posting about Pop Up Popcorn the owner sent me this box of popcorn to get it reviewed. They sent a box of white chocolate popcorn.
Wrapping:
As u can see above, it has beautiful finishing touches and its very chic, even the quality of the box was good. My wife loves the black color tegool ekhaleeeh wayed raqey 😛
Taste:
When it comes to taste I think they nailed it, its REALLY delicious and tasty and suitable if you were craving something really sweet. Whats made it unique was in my opinion the quality of the chocolate. I also tried milk chocolate which had Nutella in it and liked it as well.
Other flavors they offer:
– Dark Chocolate flavor.
– Cinnamon flavor.
– Coffee flavor.
I do have some suggestions for the people behind Popup popcorn: I wish they could admore flavors such as Caramel, Honey and Peanut Butter. I also think it would be a good idea if they offered more different sizes.
To order #65 160 190

Recently I faced alot of problems paying for my packages with UshopWeship, and now finally i get it, here is how to solve the problem:
if you are not using the “www” protocol. which means you entered the URL http://ushopweship.com instead of http://www.ushopweship.com, then you’re going to face the same problem i did.
so when you need to pay in the future, you have to use the “www” protocol.
My thanks goes to TwaiF
