I was reading about Israel trying its spy planes and Iran testing its missiles, both in an attempt to prove their capabilities and seriousness, and as usual, I started going from page to page hitting every interesting link in sight, and then an hour later I was reading about world war II. (I did not know that over 70 million people died at that war!).

After finishing reading about WW2, I saw the word holocaust (whenever I see or hear this word the first thing that comes to mind is the word “lie.” I don’t know why exactly. I think I’ve heard or read somewhere a discussion about whether the holocaust really did take place or not.. How could something this big be a source of confusion to anyone is beyond me.. But the conspiracy theorist in me loves to have an Insider information, I think thats why this info never left my mind) so I clicked on holocaust’s link. I did not know that not only jews were included in the genocide, but also “several million Soviet prisoners of war, along with slave laborers, gay men, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the disabled, and political opponents,” were killed. I ended up reading some quotes that kept me thinking. I’ll share them now and then ask my questions. The quotes are:

1- Hitler dubbed the holocaust as “Final Solution of the Jewish Question.”

2- “Prior to the beginning of World War II, during a speech given on January 30, 1939, Hitler foretold the coming Holocaust of European Jewry when he said:
“Today I will once more be a prophet: If the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!””

3- “In his diary entry of December 13, 1941, the day after Hitler’s private speech, Joseph Goebbels wrote:
“Regarding the Jewish Question, the Führer is determined to clear the table. He warned the Jews that if they were to cause another world war, it would lead to their own destruction. Those were not empty words. Now the world war has come. The destruction of the Jews must be its necessary consequence. We cannot be sentimental about it. It is not for us to feel sympathy for the Jews. We should have sympathy rather with our own German people. If the German people have to sacrifice 160,000 victims in yet another campaign in the east, then those responsible for this bloody conflict will have to pay for it with their lives.””

Now regarding the 1st quote “Final” solution? what is the problem they’re trying to solve? Were there any other solutions? Why is it expressed in such anger and finality?

The second quote, Why is he threatening the jews? Did they start the 1st world war? are they famous within germany for staring up wars? or is it pure hatred toward them?

The 3rd quote, we now learn, according to this guy’s diary, that WW2 already took place and is still going, that the jews were indeed responsible for it and they must meet their fate; Hitler’s promise of extermination, right? I read about WW2 and did not read anywhere that the jews started the war or were a cause. Have I missed something?

All information and quotes were taken from wikipedia.

It’s gone. Finished. Yet I don’t feel so guilty.

I like how sometimes its “I don’t need this piece of chocolate, I can totally live without chocolates” and some other times “I want chocolates. Any kind. Now.

I don’t care much for desserts. Normally I would just buy chocolate bars from the supermarket and leave them. My passion lies in the savory dishes. But when I have those very few and far between cravings for dessert, mainly chocolates, I stop paying attention to quantities. Bad habbit, I’m aware. Oh well.

PS this chocolate brand is amazing.

When I first discovered foret noir, or black forest, the cake (duh), I was not so fond of it. What is there to like anyway? it is supposed to be some kind of a chocolate cake that doesn’t taste quite like chocolate, it has this sour syrup that everybody on this earth hates with a vengeance, and its covered with this thin layer of cheap whipping cream (the ones I tried are cheap) then covered again with something that is supposed to look and taste like chocolate flakes. It is hatable. Almuhaissin, I think, is one of the main reasons why I’ve always hated the black forest, the other reason being the egyptian movies and the way they pronounce it’s name; belack foorest.

Anyway. I discovered this AMAZING cafe (actually, I didn’t discover anything. Mom took me to this cafe 2 years ago and made me try their foret noir) their foret noir is nothing like almuhaissin’s! its nothing like any other black forest i have ever tasted. First of all they got it right and won major points for cutting that sour syrup out of the recipe, then they scored even more points for including a chocolate paste (is it called paste? its a layer of melted chocolate) that works perfectly with the cake, very subtly sweet, it adds this whole other dimension to the otherwise boring cake and it kind of redefines the cake. Then there is the award winning whipped cream layer which takes it to a new level.

1- Do you think a Kuwaiti waiter or waitress would be good at their job?

2- Would you be more/less comfortable giving orders to a Kuwaiti waiter?

3- Would the Kuwaiti factor make any difference when it comes to tipping?

4- How do you feel about working as waiter? (assuming the paying is good)

5- Do you know any Kuwaiti waiters?

Today we received packages from Amazon and we found out that one of the packages contain this. I liked the idea. it basically says that if you have any old phone and you want to get rid of it just send it to them and they’re gonna forward it to the US soldiers so that they can call their families.

Here are the instructions above. If you want to send yours let me know first 😉

Thanks ANM

Actifed Duo is one of the best allergy medicines I have ever tried, even better than the mighty Zyrtec. It has double effect, acting as both an allergy drug and a running nose’s. I also love it coz I don’t feel drowsy/sleepy after taking a pill.

Highly recommended.

Am I the only one who still listens to the Aladdin soundtrack? I especially enjoy it when I can’t sleep, I just put it on and try to sleep and it usually works.. I love this soundtrack. To date I think it hasn’t lost it’s touch and is still fresh.

Speaking of sleeplessness.. Don’t you hate people who can’t sleep while the TV is on? I have a friend who cannot sleep with the TV or ANYTHING else on. Let me explain further more.. This friend of mine cannot sleep if the receiver displays the time, the bathroom-boiler’s light is on, the space under the door is letting light in, the mobile’s tiny light is blinking or the window’s shutter is not fully shut. Now, in all honesty, don’t you think people, like my friend, should get a training course on how to properly use their eyelids? 😛

I used to have issues sleeping, but it wasn’t the little details that made a difference to me. To me it’s about comfort. If the temperature isn’t just right I’ll have a lot of trouble sleeping. If I’m not laying on a comfortable place I probably won’t be able to sleep no matter how peaceful my surroundings are. Eventually I noticed this fact fully, and how it applied to myself. I got myself a black friday memory foam mattress, as I heard that those were the ones that could really make a difference for comfort. Well, they were right. I’ve been using mine for years and when I decide it’s time to get a new one I will get another just like it, if not better. I’ve also been taking medication from EU Meds, and it got rid of all of my sleeping problems instantly.

Mont Salève (1380m) is in france right next to the swiss borders. Its one of the nearest mountains to geneva and once you’re up there, you’ll have a panoramic view of geneva and all the cities next to it. I think I can see all the way to lausanne (I think Montreux is blocked by the Mountains near Evian).

You can go up there either by using the Telepherique (Cable car) or by car. I prefer using the car, gives a sense of adventure (I’m afraid of heights). We went there last week, by car ofcourse, my brother was in the driver’s seats, driving the manual car (which makes our heads go back and fourth with every gear shift!). The trip took less than 15 minutes. There is a little cafe on top (many cafes) which overlooks the whole thing and just a few meters away from the cafe there is this flying-edge where (crazy people, as mom would refer to them, elmeyaneen) jump off and fly with their parachutes.

This is the stadium where some of the UEFA games were held.

The giant football hovering over geneva’s skies.

Since Ramadan is getting closer and i know there will be tons of kuwaiti series and talk shows, i think I’ll need something like a media center for me which is capable of:

  • Recording directly from a reciever or DVD player.
  • Can watch YouTube with it <- (MUST coz my wife is a BIG fan of YouTube 🙂 ).
  • Built in hard drive.
  • Can work with Mac.
  • WiFi – G or N doesn’t matter.

A little search in Amazon plus Google ended up with:

Can anyone help me with it? can anyone find one with all the features above?

UPDATE:

INM just got his Archos TV+ I just bought it from INM ((sharaita 3ala kharaba 😛 )) and it seems its nearly perfect device, it got HD, YouTube, and many more. im thinking of getting one. BTW i will make a review of it.

Every year Mom goes to the botanic shop near us and buys some more hydrangea plants to replace the old and dying ones. Sometimes she buys 2 and sometimes more, depending on how bad/good last year’s plants are holding up. When I’m here when and we go to the botanic, I always try my best to steer her away from buying the same flowers. Instead, I kept telling her to consider the top back pack sprayers in 2020 that are really useful for the garden, I try and try AND try! but to no avail. I don’t know what is it with these flowers and I don’t know why all the other gardens around us have this same flowers. these and the lavender. Once the mission to buy a different plant this year failed (failed miserably. We bought 3 new hydrangeas!) I insisted on buying these little dividers/partitions just so I would feel like I made a tiny difference this time 😛

Going to the hospital all through last week in this country made me realize how lucky we are. We’re beyond lucky, We’re blessed and we don’t even know it.

We had to go to hospitals many times during last week and every hospital, doctor or waiting room we’ve seen (and smelt) was an eye opener to us all. Not only they’re understaffed, overcrowded, inefficient, stupid and retarded, but they also suffer from a serious lack of TIME-awarness! they don’t give a damn about the time the patients spend waiting inline. I mean.. we were in a hurry to get an injection, almost a routine injection, yet we had to wait inline for 3 hours just to get this done. 3 hours for a simple injection. Had the same thing happened in Kuwait we would’ve been in and out of the hospital in 10 minutes nut they required some tests to be ran so we were place in their hospital beds.

Nowadays is possible to bring help to any place that you want, this mobile medical trailer manufacturer creates mobile units with all the equipment that you need to take care of your patients.

The other hospital we’ve been to was something else, the doctor whom my brother waited so long to see was an english illiterate doctor. She knew nothing about english, english was an alien language to her. She couldn’t treat a goat if her life depended on it! let a lone a human being! which made my brother get up and leave, without getting the proper med care he waited hours for. Cardiology 3 may prove very useful in such situations.

You can’t go and get treated for a flu, cold, fever, broken arm, broken neck without waiting inline for hours. and I literally means HOURS.

We’re very lucky we have a Joint Pain Clinic in Greensboro, NC – QC Kinetix (Greensboro). Very. I’m not saying there is no room for improvement, I’m just saying that every once in awhile we need to stop and realize how fortunate we really are.

Yes, we had a mini twister here in Kuwait! This mini twister was around 10 meters long and 2 meter diameter.

Here is a better video

Ali caught it when he was near Boubyan island in north kuwait.

Thanks Ali.

As promised, Goats Town! in all its glory 😛 Its in France, near Chamonix. approx. 30 mins away from both Chamonix and Geneve. Its in a mountain where a city called Morzine is located nearby, The obscure place in which this Goat’s town reside is called Les Lindarets.

The town is pretty small and filled with, well, Goats. They lay and walk around freely, you can buy specially packaged food and feed them (rizg lig6awa) they pose and follow you whenever they spot the plastic bag, which contains their food, in your hand. sometimes, in not so rare cases, they hassle you and pull the plastic bag out of your hand, leaving you feeling both angry and silly.

They’re all gathered around this giant salt cube, licking it and there are many other cubes lying around the place from them to suck into. From what I understood, Goats love salt and they’d do anything to have their salt fix. In Kuwait I saw them licking the cement around their cage just coz it got some salt in it. They actually made a dent in the cement from all licking!

I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by the awfully talented Khaled Hosseini. I should first say that the writer didn’t drift away from what made him famous; his first novel. The story is set in Kabul, afghanistan and it sees much of what we already have read in The Kite Runner, and it adds some more.

I enjoyed the novel, I enjoyed the plot, the characters, the war-zone atmosphere and above all I very much enjoyed and marveled at the way he writes. Its a story of a young harami (bastard), her name is Maryam, who lives with her mother in a hut away from her father, who came to visit once a week. She awaits his arrival every week with patience, every single week, and loves him dearly and relentlessly, inspite of her mother’s constant bashing and warning that one day he won’t come to her anymore and will forget about her exactly like how he forgot to publicly own his mistake and let her, Maryam, live legitimately with her other sisters from his other wives.

The writer then starts another story with another girl who lives down the street from Maryam, her name is Layla, who is in love with Tariq. Fate plays the cruelest games with these 2 girls. They learn much about life and how, at times, it means nothing and everything at the same time. You learn much about how life was not so nice to Afghan girls during the 70’s, 80’s and ofcourse their worst days in the 90’s during the Talibans stage.

I recommend this very well written novel to everyone. Its like what you’re probably going read if you ever (not possible) read one of Amir’s* novels.

* Amir is the boy in Hosseini’s first novel.

I forgot the wallet in one of my pant’s 6 pockets and threw the pant in the laundry basket. 😀 After searching everywhere, we finally found the wallet at the bottom of the washing machine soaking wet and soapy. The money didn’t take much time in the sun to dry up.. I wish I could say the same thing about my wallet.

This is how they do it, incase you ever wondered 😛

Thanks INM.
