Remember what me & Yousef wrote a couple of weeks ago regarding the problem with Zain’s account? that we cant send any emails from our applications when we’re on their ego or routers?

Now this problem is OVER! Thanks to our loyal reader Andrew who wrote in this comment to my Zain router review post:

“I phoned Zain about this and was speaking to a guy who, coincidentally, also uses his own domain name for his personal email. He told me that Zain don’t provide an outgoing SMTP server. So I just signed up for smtp2go.com (US$1.99/month) and it’s working well.”

Walla after i read his comment i went directly to Smtp2go.com and registered with them and its WORKING NOW! The registration process takes only secs.

They have a couple of packages there which are:

Available Plans Emails Price
Standard 50 per day $3.99 $1.99 / month ($23.88 / year)
Freedom 150 per day $6.99 $3.49 / month ($39.88 / year)
Professional 300 per day $9.99 $4.99 / month ($59.88 / year)

Again my thanks goes to Andrew

The article is basically saying that new rules are on their way to moderate the Kuwaiti blogosphere and will take care of or shutdown those blogs who publish stuff that goes against Kuwaiti’s traditions & moral values and it will also moderate the political blogs.

Before posting this I looked around on Safat to see if anyone’s beat me to this post, apparently Frankom did, you can read more there.

This is bad news.

Yesterday i was in a training course in Hilton Almangaf. I was there by 8 am and when I reached the check point.. guess what?! i found a candidate’s headquarter in the resort itself!

I’m just wondering how much is the guy’s budget for the whole campaign?! his maqar was in front of the sea! ๐Ÿ˜›

I bought a nice JanSport laptop bag the other day from Carbon Fiber and was very happy with it. That same week I received my other Canon backpack for my SLR camera and was happy with it as well. But, After carrying them both 3alagalby today from one place to another I realized that I did not give it enough thought. I don’t want to be going around carrying 2 bags all the time. what if I’m traveling? or going somewhere where I need both my camera and my laptop?

I saw this Case Logic backpack in Ashraf, The one near the Sheraton, Its the bag that I should’ve bought in the first place! It stores an SLR Camera, 5 Lenses plus a Laptop. I also really liked how it looked and felt, real quality. I just wanted grab the thing, pay for it and get it over with!

But I’d feel guilty.. I just bought 2 bags! ๐Ÿ˜ก

I went yesterday to the Mayadeen shooting range with my friend. It was my first time in Kuwait, I went once in Dubai and I loved it over there. In Dubai I used shotguns which made quite an impression on me.. and my shoulder.

This time it was time for a Handgun! I was very curious as to how it would feel in my hand. At first It felt awkward and got really nervous while loading the the bullets into the magazine then it got weird after hearing the sound my friend was making while he was firing away. It was loud. But I wanted toย buy guns & ammo from Palmetto Armory to keep practising and acing the act.

I guess I’m a natural ๐Ÿ˜›

The place was very professional. From the moment we stepped in and until we left, all the people working there were very friendly and welcoming. There is a guy there who helps you and teach you all what you need to know before you touch the gun. He stays behind you and watches you and gives you advices. The shooting ranges were empty when we first came in, some people, guys and girls, started coming shortly after but it was still considered empty imo. There was lots of other shooting ranges. even a virtual range! where you hold a play gun and point it to a big screen.

We shot 20 shots each, and paid 12 KD, thats 6KD a nafar. ๐Ÿ˜€

Their manager was so nice! He saw me taking pictures of the place so he came over and invited me to his office to show me all those old guns, some of them were used in the 1st world war and other were used in Aljahra war in Kuwait in 1920! He was also nice enough to let me use his personal M16! that one was out of this world! for a second there I felt like a SWAT member lol! Seriously the manager was very nice. Thanks manager!

Remember my The New Cadillac Bag post? Well, now they’ve released another bag which carries the name of yet another car brand under GM, The Chevrolet bag. And YES its available in Kuwait! My wife told me that some places here in Kuwait are selling it. Amana don’t they look cheap? even the idea itself is weird. I think its only a matter of time before we start seeing bags like FORD, GMC… ect. ๐Ÿ˜›

If you want to buy it you can order it directly from Amazon. It will cost you around KD17.5.

For people like me & my wife who never know how much pasta to cook (it’s either too much or too little and we’re either unsatisfied or have two days of leftovers), I think this chrome device will solve our issue, it measures the amount of spaghetti for up to four people and doubles as a trivet.

Thanks to Ahmad.

After having a breakfast like this one here and lying around doing nothing for awhile we got a bit.. bored.

So, Me and HKR decided to go out and take some pictures with our cameras. One thing led to another and all of a sudden we were 7 people packed in 2 cars going for a , I’m not sure what to call it, they wanted to go ge79ing in a sandy area ๐Ÿ˜› Is there any better opportunity to try out my new lens? ๐Ÿ˜€ I used the 28-135mm for the most part and my friend used his Macro 100mm.

I loved using a quicker lens as it allowed me to take pictures in a more relaxed manner, I used to try to breath carefully while i click on the, uhmmm, clicker? i don’t know what its called, but it was annoying to be so careful. That wasn’t the case last weekend at all. I had a nice experience with the camera. Near the end I tried my Macro, but I didn’t like it in that setting, I think its better with objects that tend to stay in one place and do not move ๐Ÿ˜› however my friend used the Macro and nothing else. and his pictures turned out great! Around a week ago my Brother told me that there was some Kuwaiti soap being filmed infront of where he’s living and that he has an insider there telling him about the soap. (The insider is their houseboy or something. The insider managed to land a role in the soap too!). So I asked my brother if it was possible to take some pictures of the set so I could share it with you all. And He very kindly did go through all the trouble of sneaking in when no one was around ๐Ÿ˜› and shot all these nice photos ๐Ÿ˜€

A cast member!

The mosalsal is called Al Lahoub, The set is all wood, about an inch thick. There was an old cafe built for some scenes, but unfortunately it was brought down before He had a chance to take some pictures. (err I forgot the actors’ names. I’m gonna update this post once I remember or my brother sms me the names!)

Thank you Tareq for the great pictures and the effort.

Yes the owners of Sultan Center struck a deal to bring these two supermarkets after spending about KD27 million, Here is an excerpt from the article:

A major Kuwaiti food company acquired Lebanon’s Monoprix and Giant stores for $97 million. Michael Abchee, the general manager of Admic which owns Monoprix and Giant malls, told The that Kuwait’s Sultan Center for Food Product, better know as TSC, has made this transaction after several months of negotiations.”

We got this via email from a mother who thought its really unfair for a bank to have or apply this rule. It might be a rule from the central bank of Kuwait but that does not make it right.

Here is what she wrote:

There is something that happened to me today that left me quite offended. You know the jawhara account in NBK? I went to open an account for my son and since I’m the mother I had to sign some papers stating that If my son won anything, I can’t touch nor withdraw the prize, even my son can’t touch the money until he’s 21 years old. What shocked me was when they told me that I should let the father open the account since the father CAN withdraw the money if my son ever wins. Now this I don’t get. They trust the father to act responsible and assume that he’s trustworthy and I, the mother who wants to start the account, am not!

He might be a good father, and know what is best for the family and I’m sure that most of the fathers are trustworthy, I’m not saying otherwise, But he might spend the money the wrong way too.. and if you’re giving him the right to watch over the son’s money, well, I’m the other parent! and I think I should be given the same right.

This rule also implies that when the son turns 21 he’s going to be more wise than me with his money. This rule/law also implies that the father and the 21 year old son are wiser and more trustable than the mother in any age. ta’7alof!

Ofcourse now I’m going to withdraw the money and put in my account, so just incase I win, I can make my whole family and everyone happy.

Thanks c’est la vie for sharing this with us ๐Ÿ™‚

It all started when the mighty mouse above made an appearance to the girls attending that lecture in GUST‘s new campus in Mishref. According to my source, some girls screamed and others hopped on their chairs. ๐Ÿ˜›

More from the source herself:

Well it was a typical day at GUST; it was my last boring class Management & Organization behaviour from 2:00-3:20pm.

As I was wondering around thinking what will I have for lunch todayโ€ฆ
SUDDENLY! From the quiet -boring atmosphere one of the STUDENTS SCREAMED HER HEAD OFF…SCREAMING MOUSE! MOUSE! Her scream (can wake up patients in coma!)

We all jumped from our seats looking for this little ugly creature as we thought and it turned out heโ€™s this little, cute, harmless thing!

Professorโ€™s reaction: (Ooh! Here is the little guy)
Girlโ€™s reaction: (Majority of them ran screaming out of the class! And the rest took pictures of the little creature!)

We surrounded the baby mouse until the security calmly came in and carried the mouse from his tale to the outdoors of the university.

The shocking thing is that about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday, in the same class! One of the sections had a midterm exam and suddenly the same thing happened, but whatโ€™s worse than that is they had to fold their legs on the chair and take the exam with pounding hearts! And watch the mouse running around!

I bet they did well on the exam!!!

What a shame! A new campus, itโ€™s HUGE with high TECH. equipments, with uncontrolled temperature itโ€™s either FREEZING or HUMID! And itโ€™s a university where not only students can learn but believe it or not… Itโ€™s for โ€œmiceโ€ to live and learn!

Thanks Wa6n_3Mri

Yes, our lovely dowaniya has left! We decided to start the move at midnight to avoid any traffic jams in the streets.

I think Ali and Abdullah know how much time we spent in this dowaniya (talking, studying and gathering) we spent some beautiful times there, i will never forget you, Bye Bye dowaniya. ๐Ÿ™

Today i was reading Mark’s Forum and found that Amazon.com will apply tax to any NY address! here is whatย cajie wrote:

We have been enjoying tax-free shipping from Amazon to NY, but it looks like this is going to change in the near future. I always used to hate buying from bhphotovideo because they add NY tax to any purchase (as they are based in NY).”
