Well he first and foremost, is Mariah Carey’s ex husband, this is the most interesting part of this person’s life as far as I’m concerned. But he is also many other things.
Once uppon a time he was the most powerful man in the music industry. He was the head of Sony’s music devision back in the late 1980’s till beginning of the 2000’s. He helped and/or discovered, developed,, raised to stardom, expanded, the following artists:
Mariah Carey
Ricky Martin
Shakira
Jennifer Lopez
Jessica Simpson
Diana Ross
Beyonce
Marc Anthony
Gloria Estefan
Celine Dion
He is, as reports have suggested, connected with the Mafia, connected (had power over) with all the radio networks back in his heydays, and was the most influential man in the music industry, when the music industry was as big as the universe that is. The man had it all, and somehow lost it all, his powers I mean, not his wealth, coz he still is wealthy as hell.
Get this: He made SONY $1,000,000,000 richer with Mariah Carey alone. Celine have sold as much as Mariah.. 3alaikom le7sab.
He is the kind of guy that you can’t help but be disgusted and inspired by all at once! He is writing his memoirs. Lots of warms are going to crawl out of that piece of valuable writings, and I can’t wait to turn it’s pages!
I got a message telling me that Prime & Toast restaurant the one at AlSeef stip is going to open 24 hours a day 7 days a week starting on 15th of this month.
I would’ve loved this back in 2008 when I was Jobless. With wireless internet this would’ve been my dream place back then.
I heard that lots of people were annoyed that this hasn’t come to Kuwait yet, and they’ve struggled over the years to buy it off the net and import it and stuff. Well Bath & Body Works is opening soon at the avenues, near D.Lush, so rejoice!
It’s brought over by AlShaya group, and I’ve been told that AlShaya owns it’s right for the whole Middle east. If that proves to be true, then expect it to pop all around the gulf area.
It’s official, Mission Impossible 4 starring Tom Cruise will be filmed partially in Dubai. Dubai’s media officials have announced after many meetings and location scouting that Dubai would be one of the main locations for filming the next Mission Impossible, along with Prague and Vancouver.

“I can officially say I’m a Real Madrid player. My professional link with AC Milan finishes now, but my sentimental link will never end,” he said.
Real Madrid intend to build a great team, with historic players that have the most Champions League titles. For me, the sporting project (at Madrid) is interesting and will be an important boost to continue my career in the highest level.”

“The Kuwaiti and Saudi nationals will be able to use smart cards to enter each other’s country through the official crossing points in line with the travel laws and their executive statutes.
“Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have signed yesterday an agreement allowing their nationals to use smart ID cards instead of passports to cross the joint borders. The deal will take force only one month after being signed by Kuwaiti Minister of Interior Lt-Gen (rtd) Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and Saudi Arabia’s Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Prince Nayif Bin-Abdulaziz Al-Saud.”
This line kinda cracked me up:
“The deal will greatly facilitate the movement of citizens of the t
wo sisterly countries; it sets example for what the ties between neighbors should be”
It “sets” an example? You mean in the middle east right? coz europe have been setting countless examples for the past 30 years, and the travel between 2 ‘sisterly’ countries thingi have been set a long time ago.
I passed by today and was told by the waiter that they’ve just released a new flavor, chocolate, and it is awesome. I sampled it and I thought it was awful. It tastes like something between a real good chocolate icecream and a bad dark chocolate. Read the rest of this entry »
Now this is funny! Carlsberg as a sponsor for Kuwait’s national youth team? The goal keeper should’ve known better than to wear a shirt with carlsberg logo on it, on an official game.
I heard they made quite a fuss about it on AlRai newspaper.
Update:
Alrai’s article. I feel sorry for the goalkeeper after reading the article.
Preacher Terry Jones who vowed to burn 200 copies of the Quran on 9/11’s 9th anniversary, had been given a bill of $100,000 to cover the cost of police security forces.
He called off the Quran burning just 2 days before the scheduled day, but that didn’t stop the enraged people from all over the world to protest and threaten his safety. The police and SWAT teams were used to protect him and his church in texas Florida. That kind of protection didn’t come for free.
The security bill could end up bankrupting Terry Jones and his church.
Good news I guess, the traffic-jams-causing schools in Kuwait won’t be back until the 26th of this month, which gives us a whole week and a half of Jams-free mornings.

We were at P.F. Chang’s the other day and the nice manager over there told us they’ll be opening a new branch in Kuwait soon. It’ll be located right next to the Corniche Club, in the ‘red building’. She told us that the new branch is a big one, 2 levels, and according to her it’ll look amazing.
UEFA banned the vuvuzela from all stadiums hosting UEFA matches. Reason being, aside from the annoying noise it creates, is that the vuvuzela is deeply associated with the South African’s football culture and it’s association with the last world cup would make it’s appearance in europe ‘inappriopriate’.
Great decision. I mean having to sit through game after game with friends is torture, but having to sit through that horrid noise throughout every match is a tad too much.
This guy claims that he broke the record set by a woman using Samsung’s galaxy S just a few days ago when she typed the phrase below in less than 26 seconds. The new unofficial record was set using an iPhone in under 22 seconds.
The phrase is:
“the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human”
I just tried and managed to write it in 51 seconds using an iPhone.
Maryam Al Joan will be the first Kuwaiti woman to visit Antarctica. She will be representing the Kuwaiti science club on an expedition sponsored by Viva in february. Have you ever been stuck in a traffic jam in Kuwait? I’m sure most of you have, but how long were you stuck? whats your record? I think the longest I’ve been in a traffic jam in Kuwait was for an hour and a half. Now how about some perspective?
There is an ongoing traffic jam in China that started on August 14, 2010, and has lasted for 10 days and still counting. Some cars have been stuck in there for over 4 days. There is a wikipedia page about this!
From wikipedia:
The 2010 China National Highway 110 traffic jam
It’s a massive traffic jam that started on August 14, 2010, on China National Highway 110 reported in the chp traffic report. The traffic jam slowed down thousands of vehicles for more than 100-kilometers and has lasted for ten days. Many drivers have only been able to move their car one kilometer per day, and some drivers have reported being stuck in the traffic jam for five days.
Cause
Traffic on the highway has grown 40 per cent every year in the last several years, making the highway chronically congested.
The cause of the traffic jam on the Beijing-Tibet expressway was reported to be due to a spike in traffic by heavy trucks heading to Beijing along with road maintenance work that began five days later. The road constructions that is said to contribute heavily to the traffic jam is said not to end until mid-September. Police have reported that minor breakdowns and accidents have compounded the problem. If you have been involved and got injured in car accidents in new york, contact an experienced injury lwayer to help you seek compensation. The police said that many of the victims to the car accidents go to https://www.earlandearl.com/personal-injury-attorney.html to talk to a lawyer and get the money they deserve to fix their car or help pay for any injuries. An alternative explanation is that the restriction on illegal coal production has increased the demand for coal to be illegally produced in the providence of Inner Mongolia and shipped to Bejing because there are no coal checkpoints on the highway connecting this route. This, in turn, has created massive congestion.
Because many drivers were stranded in their cars for days, locals near the highway have began to sell various goods, including water, instant noodles, and cigarettes, to the drivers stuck on the road at inflated prices.
I was invited today to the testings of Viva’s new 4G Network capabilities, unfortunately I couldn’t make it, but I was told a lot of bloggers were invited to the Viva event along with news reporters. The technology being tested could take up the internet speeds in Kuwait up to incredible new heights, we’re talking 160MBPS+. I personally can’t wait till prices drop further and super fast internet speeds are available to everybody.
Also worth mentioning that Zain has started similiar tests a couple of weeks back. Read.
