Chicken Nugget is a term used to describe the westernized Kuwaitis (dark from the outside, white from the inside) you know the kind, you’ve heard them talk around you with that perfect accent, you hated them for it, and you wished you could speak like them.. but lets face it ya3ny.. we, as in we who studied in public schools and started learning english at 13 and used to sing Old Mcdonalds in english classes at the age of 14 and 13 (the shame!) won’t ever be able to speak like them.. no matter how we tried to loose the Rs and no matter how hard we tried to go easy on the Ts & Ps.. It just won’t work.

My cousin, who is partially nuggety was daring me to pronounce “water” the way americans do, and believe it or not, I failed. I tried to sound like him but unfortunately I sounded neither american nor Kuwaiti, it kinda evolved miraculously into an indian accent, every single time I tried.

I don’t wanna digress.. I’m trying to take a jab and accuse the Nuggets of something here. I think the Nuggets like the term Chicken Nugget. I also think that the term was used and made popular in Kuwait by none other than them.. I mean how can “we” the 7abarbash of public schools with our miserable english come up with such a term! Seriously have you heard us say the word NUGGET?

As per KTV the next elections will be on 14th of May.

Wared Lease & Finance company fired all of it’s employees, from the GM to the tea boy and left on a few to followup on clients. All of the employees were paid 3 months’ salaries in advance and were let go till further notice. Wared is owned by Investment Dar company.

Remember my previous post about ProntoWash, they were closing their branches all over Kuwait? actually yes they did close down, but on the other hand they are now offering another option, you can just call them and they’ll come to you instead of you going to them and have your car washed for the same price. Which is much better and more comfortable in my opinion. You can contact them on 1806006.

Najdiya is a shop near the grand mosque and the commercial bank. The shop makes and sells traditional Kuwaiti slippers (ni3il naydiya). Unfortunately it is shutting down soon (as soon as they sell off their stock) and now everything in there is deeply discounter. I went and bought 2 ni3il naydiya, one for me one for my brother, for only 10 KDs each.

There are 2 kinds of Naydiyas; the 30kd ones, softer leather and have more colors and shiny stuff on them, and 10kd ones (the ones I bought) which are available in different colors too but less the shinny stuff.

And they’re made in Kowait.

My friend loco was in Dubai this past weekend and got to lean a few things about restaurants that’ll open soon in Kuwait.

The Meat Company

The waitress asked for my friend’s nationality and when He said Kuwaiti she said we’re opening soon in there. Then the manager came and specified that The Meat Co. will open in the new 360 Mall. Their website also states the same.

Taco Bell

As He was ordering he asked if the Taco Bell is under Americana in the middle east, she said yes, and then told him that they’re gonna open in a mall in Kuwait but that she wasn’t sure of it’s name, but she said that the mall’s name starts with a number… He asked if it’s 360, she wasn’t able to confirm. The Noodle House

As he was complaining to the manager about how the dishes aren’t the same (this restaurant was an addiction when we were students there), the manager mentioned that they’ll open in Kuwait some time this year, but didn’t know where exactly. Their official website says that it’ll open 2 branches, one in the gulf road and another branch at the Messila beach hotel.

A very good lebanese restaurant in Dubai is opening soon in the avenues phase II. next to Layl Nhar restaurant.

I’m new to this whole genre of music and just beginning to get into the whole samri thing, and I’m loving how old some of the songs are and how some, now famous wedding songs, are covers of unrecognizable originals. I found out today that the Oula gas station changed their logo, their exteriors design, and added a little supermarket! They’re now Just like Dubai’s gas stations (which are superb btw). I like the new look a lot. Good job Oula! 🙂
