I should’ve posted this 3 days ago when my friend bo9ale7 first told me about this Diving center. My friend is totally obsessed with every thing adventurous, not that this thing is risky, well it is but thats beside the point. He took classes and started diving (Do you remember the Swimming with the sharks post?) and ever since all we hear is ‘Bo9ale7 na6ir ilsummer’ ‘bo9ale7 went to sharm alshaikh to dive in the red sea’. I think, and most of our friends also think that bo9ale7 was a mizligana in another life 😛
Anyway. So Bubbles diving center are offering scuba diving trips and training courses to whoever is interested. They’re qualified to train the beginners all the way to the instructors. They’ve begun registering students for the diving courses and the first of their courses will start on the 3rd of May.
For more information call 24835228 or 99989020/30. You can also check out their forum at Bubbles Diving.
My friend and my roommate in college, who is a football fanatic, who made me cringe every time I hear the words ‘champions league,’ who hogged the TV every tuesday and wednesday to watch football matches, finally made the right decision and started a blog along with his friends dedicated solely to nothing else but.. Football!
For you all football fanatics Football Directa is the place to visit when you’re looking for news about your favorite team. Their site is very alive with updates around the hour with the kind of news you crave.
Drop by and check it out: FootBall Directa. It’ll be added to our blog roll as well.
Magic Planet just opened in the Avenues phase II. There are arcades section, a couple of rides, bowling isles, billiard tables, wall climbing “in a shape of palm trees”, many booths and stuff.
The place is big and spacious, but according to my friend, it’s a bit too spacious (empty) and it feels like they’re going to fill it with more rides and stuff.
ANM was at Sultan Center the other day and she found out that Sweet’N Low has a new addition to their products which is the ‘Zero Calorie’ Sweet’N Low. According to site the product was introduced for their 50th anniversary. Too bad it wont last because its limited edition .
Sultan Al-Shaer passed away today morning in Frankfurt. He was known as “esh7afan el ga6o”. He was sent yesterday by a private plane but he couldnt make it.
“Within Gmail Labs, an option now exists under Settings to turn on “Undo Send.” From that point on, whenever an e-mail is sent, an “Undo” link will appear on the send mail confirmation. By clicking that link, the message will be routed back into composition – where the user can then change that “Meeting on Firday” to “Meeting on Friday.”
This feature can’t pull back an e-mail that’s already gone; it just holds your message for five seconds so you have a chance to hit the panic button,” Michael Leggett, user experience designer for Google, wrote on the official Gmail blog. “And don’t worry – if you close Gmail or your browser crashes in those few seconds, we’ll still send your message.”
Pretty useful feature if you ask me and I sure did need it more than once.
Starting from 1st of March Amex/Gulf Bank credit cards holders will be restricted with only the card holder instead of 2 persons per card to enter Kuwait’s Pearl lounge.
Saleh & Dawod AlKuwaiti were Jewish musicians who lived in Kuwait in the past. According to the article, they were ingenious musicians “”They even invented certain scales that didn’t exist at the time.” The Emir of Kuwait would go visit them in their house to listen to their music. They named one of their sons Sabah after the Emir’s family name. The Emir also attended his circumcision (6ohoor) and gave them a box full of gold coins as a present.
The part in the article where it mentions their stay in Iraq is what caught my attention the most. It says that the AlKuwaiti brothers were responsible for inventing what we now call “Traditional Iraqi music.” The Iraqi government didn’t want Saleh and Dawod getting credit for the great music they were introducing and were labeling AlKuwaiti’s music as traditional/old iraqi music, as in ‘not originals’, and in some cases it was credited to other musicians by force.
They immigrated later to the newly occupied palestine. That was when they faced the biggest blow to their talents.. Not being able to play their music in concerts, where it belongs, but instead they played in family dinners and parties, “had to play weddings and barmitzvahs and family fiestas, with people eating and drinking… and not listening.”
Anyway. The article is an interesting one and you should read it. The video on top is of a song I’m currently in love with, produced by Saleh AlKuwaiti.

Najdiya is a shop near the grand mosque and the commercial bank. The shop makes and sells traditional Kuwaiti slippers (ni3il naydiya). Unfortunately it is shutting down soon (as soon as they sell off their stock) and now everything in there is deeply discounter. I went and bought 2 ni3il naydiya, one for me one for my brother, for only 10 KDs each.
There are 2 kinds of Naydiyas; the 30kd ones, softer leather and have more colors and shiny stuff on them, and 10kd ones (the ones I bought) which are available in different colors too but less the shinny stuff.
My friend loco was in Dubai this past weekend and got to lean a few things about restaurants that’ll open soon in Kuwait.
The Meat Company
The waitress asked for my friend’s nationality and when He said Kuwaiti she said we’re opening soon in there. Then the manager came and specified that The Meat Co. will open in the new 360 Mall. Their website also states the same.
Taco Bell
As He was ordering he asked if the Taco Bell is under Americana in the middle east, she said yes, and then told him that they’re gonna open in a mall in Kuwait but that she wasn’t sure of it’s name, but she said that the mall’s name starts with a number… He asked if it’s 360, she wasn’t able to confirm. Check out Taco Bell Menu Prices.
The Noodle House
As he was complaining to the manager about how the dishes aren’t the same (this restaurant was an addiction when we were students there), the manager mentioned that they’ll open in Kuwait some time this year, but didn’t know where exactly. Their official website says that it’ll open 2 branches, one in the gulf road and another branch at the Messila beach hotel.
Karam Beirut
A very good lebanese restaurant in Dubai is opening soon in the avenues phase II. next to Layl Nhar restaurant.
The article talks about the tv interview where Prince Sultan Bin Fahad had lashed out on the tv presentors. The article doesn’t add anything new, but it has an interesting take on the matter, and is a good read nevertheless. It shows the repercussions of that interveiw and how the “common” people’s perception of the royals is changing/changed since the interview.
It’s a very good wake up call, don’t you think? for people not to push their lucks and abuse their status.
I found out today that the Oula gas station changed their logo, their exteriors design, and added a little supermarket! They’re now Just like Dubai’s gas stations (which are superb btw). I like the new look a lot. Good job Oula! 🙂
My cousin gave me this brochure about the new smart ID. We’ve been hearing news about this thing for a long time now, but I’m gussing since we have official brochures now, then it’s entering it’s final stages and will be out soon, hopefully.
AlQabas reported the other day that the cause of Mehmas’ didn’t commit suicide as reported by all of our media outlets, but of a myocardial infarction (heart attack). His son, Khaled, who was the first to enter the late actor’s home, denied earlier reports of a suicide and said that he found his father dead in his living room in a sitting position. The forensics’ report is going to be out soon, and according to Mr. Khaled, they’re going to prove that his father did not commit suicide.
