Traffic Jams season!

Yep it’s on and starting tomorrow. Many schools are starting tomorrow and the Banking sector’s timing has changed to 8 o’clock, just like the rest of the private sector, so beware. Be prepared and get out of home early.

Gravity Master

I love this game. I’ve been playing it for over a year now, on and off. I should’ve memorized all the solutions by now, but the beauty of this game lie in it’s solutions; If you’re creative enough they’re practically endless.

Try it

This video was sent in by a reader. While the point of sending this video was to expose the people behind those foul doings, I was distracted by the guy behind the camera. Obviously the guy who shot the video had intended to spread it, so why didn’t he at least try to feign a nicer attitude?

Where does he come off treating people in such a demeaning way to prove his point?!

Thanks Karim for the video. While your intentions may be sincere, your way of treating those (who in a perfect world would be) innocent people is appalling. And I sincerely hope you’d restrain yourself and start acknowledge them as humans (on par with you and I) with rights to be recognized. There must be a better way of doing this.

I ordered one from amazon.com but I don’t know when I’m gonna receive it, especially since the Eid holiday is upon us and all. But then a couple of days ago I read in a comment that it’s available in Kuwait! so yeah.. I bought it.

The book is available at Virgin Marina mall, it’s for KD 9.5 and is only available in Hardcover.

Prelude:
There was an italian food lover back in the 1920’s who married a woman that came from a family famous for their good taste and restaurateur-ship. The couple had their first child in 1959. Soon afterwards the husband decided to open up a restaurant as a gift to his wife, and they named it Margherita. Their child grew up and inherited his Mom’s good taste and passion for cooking. Almost 50 years later this child opened up his own Margherita restaurant in Gemayze, Lebanon.

Review:
I thought the story was worth mentioning, it’s a nice one.

Anyway, We went to this restaurant when we were in Lebanon 2 weeks ago, during Ramadan, but unfortunately when we got there we discovered that they don’t serve anything but pizza till 8pm. Me and my friends were fasting, and while we would’ve loved having a pizza as a side dish or a starter, there was no way on earth we’re going to settle for pizza as a main dish, after all we were fasting and unbelievably hungry from the long day we spent in beirut. So, as my friends were preparing to leave the place, I couldn’t resist ordering a pizza to go. I just had to taste it, coz I heard some pretty nice things about their pizzas (and yeah the place smelled heavenly. It was killing me). And believe you me when I say that this is the best pizza that I have every tried! The dough is so crispy at the edges, and then sooo thin in the middle that it is impossible to lift with one hand, you’d have to lift with both hands to support the middle section. The tomato sauce, cheese (mozzarella. I asked for their best pizza and they recommended the Margherita pizza with mozzarella slices.) along with whatever spices they put in there, all were exceptionally tasty and full of flavor.

The restaurant is pretty small and cozy, with a big pizza oven in the middle of the place. Also the staff were very friendly and welcoming (except for when I asked to take some pictures).

You’ve got to try this place out. Highly recommended.

I just watched the trailer and I can’t wait to see the movie in november. This movies, The Fourth Kind, is about the alien encounters of the fourth kind, which is abductions. It takes some real footage from interviews with some of the abducted people, and they duplicate the scenes and act them out for the movie. The footage could be real, or not, I couldn’t care less, all I know is that I wanna watch this movie!

About the movie:

” This encounter (Fourth) has been the most difficult to document-until now. Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where–mysteriously since the 1960s–a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.”

While we were on Sharm AlSheikh last month, we were told not to miss a place near Sharm, called Dahab. The place contains one of the best diving spots in the world. It is called “The Blue Hole”. It is a hole right off the shore, the picture below might explain it a bit, as you can see, it look somewhat like that, a solid ground, reefs and corals, and then chuk bom a hole. You dive in this vertical narrow cave till you reach an arch; an exit to the open water.

The Blue hole at Dahab is infamous for being dangerous, and could lead to deaths, it had led to the deaths of many divers actually. Make sure you have a good guide when you’re there, since a there is no need to worry when you have the right equipment and a guide to show you through, And also to let you know when you need to ascend. It’s beauty is fatal, and thats why many people have drowned over the years (or at least that is one of the reasons), because of how exceptionally beautiful it is down there. It’s color, it’s steepness, it just allures you to go further down, kinda sucks you in, makes you want to get “just a little deeper”.

For me, the thing that made this spot the best spot I’ve dived in so far, is it’s steepness, it feels like you’re diving next to a huge & extremely vertical mountain, which provides a perfect flying illusion. It kinda feels like you’re flying next to mountain and when you look down, trying to get an idea of how tall this mountain is, the bottom is no where to be seen, and what’s below just fades into darker shades of blue & feels bottomless. It is that way because it’s 800+ meters deep.

We were discussing the swine flu topic today and someone raised this question: Why does Kuwait have this high percentage of swine flu cases compared to neighboring countries?

A Doctor was present and he had this to say:

“Take the number of cases discovered in Kuwait and compare it to the cases discovered at country X, and then take the number of deaths caused by the swine flu in Kuwait and again in country X, you’d find the that Kuwait’s percentage is much smaller than the other country’s. This tells us that in Kuwait we have more “reported” cases than other countries because we are more able, financially, to test and discover those cases, whereas in other countries they don’t bother to test each sick individual for swine flu.

It costs too much to test for the swine flu. Actually it costs the hospital much less to treat you and provide the necessary medication than to just test you. The UK for example started treating patients who have the symptoms without testing them first (depends on the severity of their symptoms). But since we’re in Kuwait, every person with the swine flu symptoms get tested, and thats why we have a relatively a high number of cases discovered compared to other countries.

And to add something, the numbers will double soon, but that’s not because the outbreak just got worse or bigger (That’s what Kuwaitis like to say at diwaniyas), but the truth is, it’s because a new lab dedicated to swine flu tests just opened, And naturally this new lab will report more cases as the amounts of tests increase.”

So don’t freak out just yet!

Best home remedy for 7aarij

The M7albiya (Muhalabiya) is a great way to make sure that you don’t wake up in the morning with a 7aarij (heart burn), especially during ramadan where you’re left helpless throughout the day.

We prepare many cups similar to the one pictured above, and we all make sure to eat some later at night after our last meal. It works like magic, and prevents the 7arij every time. It’s very easy to make too.

To prepare a muhalabiya all you need is:

  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Starch
  • Rose Water

A big table spoon of starch and sugar for each cup of milk, it depends on the quantity you’re making. I would add more sugar, but thats me. Rose water is optional, a table spoon would be more than enough if you ask me.

Begin by adding all of the things mentioed above together in a pot while it’s still cold, then begin heating and stir. Keep stirring til it thickens, then pour into little cups and put em in the firdge till they cool.

You can add some fruits or nuts on top, But thats really unnecessary, After all we’re trying to avoid 7arij here.

Voila! Bon Appétit!

Note: While you’re in the kitchen and have some starch lying around, you might wanna check this post out and make use of the excess starch!

We went to lebanon this past weekend. We had fun and did a lot of things in a very short period of time. It was quick but we needed such a getaway. Below you’ll see 20+ random pictures I took while I was there.

Mariah Carey's I want to know what love is

Mariah Carey does a cover of foreigners “I want to know what love is”, and it’s Mariah’s second single off of her yet unreleased album, Memoirs of an imperfect angel.

I must say that this song is superb, going by the music scene today, this is one of the better pop songs of the year, and by far better than anything any of her peers have put out lately.

But, the song also has it short comings, one of which is the song’s ending and length. Just as she was about to take us there with her voice; reach for musicality’s heavens, the song’s end comes so abrupt that it feels like something’s missing. It is short and the intro, while sets the mood quite nicely, takes what could’ve been a valuable 30 seconds off of the song, which is frustrating.

There is always another way to look at it though: The short song and the hurried ending leaves the listener wanting more of it, therefor more spins at radio and hence a bigger hit.
