There are certain things that shouldn’t cost so much. I wouldn’t mind spending on a nice watch, a nice wallet, a nice whatever. But a TV at KD1500+ is just not worth buying. I’d rather spend some extra dollars for a satellite TV, either dish or direct tv for HD experience channels. Some might argue that TVs are the most used piece of furniture ever invented, and I’d agree, but certain things shouldn’t cost much, the tv is one of those things.

Fa 3ad I’ve been shopping around for a nice audio visual (AV) rentals to put on my room’s wall and replace my current vintage “Bo dabba” TV. I like doing my research before I buy something.. it took me 3 months to buy my sound canceling bose headphones.. so you can imagine how much time would I need to buy a new TV.. (7 years) e7em.. anyway. I was glad when they announce the LED technology, I thought I was real smart for holding out and not buying the thin Full HD TVs when they came out, coz now we have something that is even slimmer and akshakh.. I also remember not liking it’s KD1000+ price. No TV is worth my 1000+ monayyh. And it happened all over again with the new cool and futuristic 3D TVs. I mean you can’t help but be a kid again with 3D technology, right?

But you know what? I’ve always thought that we, humans, weren’t meant to indulge ourselves in such an advanced technology, it’s way too cool, and even way cooler to have at our houses and in our rooms.. ya3ny imagine yourself going to sleep to a 3D TV. We’re just not there yet. And apparently someone whose opinion really does matter agrees with me, and have proofs that 3D TVs doesn’t work well with our brains. Unless they produce holographic images, they won’t work.

Anyway, if you’re thinking of buying one, with or without 3D glasses, then you might want to read this article. I did, and you should read this piece by too, it’s by a multiple academy award winning editor Walter Murch.

We were invited yesterday to a Zain media event. The event was held at Sahara Golf & Country Club (Check post), and was basically a media gathering, where all of the newspapers, Kuwaiti tv stations, and some bloggers, were invited.

The event was light and quick. Me & Yousef arrived at Sahara at 7:30pm, we went in, chose a table and sat. It didn’t take long before TV presenter Iman Najim kicked off the event. Followed by a speech from Zain Group CEO, Mr. Nabeel bin Salama.

We were given 2 little coupons with numbers on them, and right after Group CEO’s speach, we were asked to take them out and prepare for the draw. Many valuable gifts we’re presented to lucky (ugh) winners. Tickets to london, tickets for any destination in the world, and many new Blackberries. Me & Yousef enjoyed clapping for each one of the 8 winners.

I’m looking for a great pair of noise cancelling headphones, and I’ve read many reviews so far, a lot actually, and all of the reviews recommended the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 over any other wired headphones on the market when it came to Noise Cancelling. You’d think that would make the deciding process a bit easier, but it didn’t. The Bose QC15 while best at noise cancelling they’re not the best in audio quality.

I went down to XCite and found both the QC15 and Beats by Dr Dre headphones there (Yeah the Beats headphones are in consideration as well, simply coz they’re best when it comes to looks). The employee at Xcite was amazing, he let me try every headphone with an iPod and let me take my time to compare between headphones. I’m almost certain now that the QC15 is what I want the most, coz the noise cancelling is out of this world. One reviewer said it best: “it almost feels as if you’re at the bottom of a pool, almost completely shut off from the sounds above.” –Review. And when I tried it, I was convinced that the review didn’t overstate it’s noise cancelling ability one bit.. I was completely shut out from my surroundings and I couldn’t hear anything but my inhales and exhales.

I don’t know why the sound quality is bothering me though. I haven’t sensed the shortcoming myself, actually I thought they were excellent, but the reviews aren’t agreeing with me.. Other than that, I think they’re perfect.

Any suggestions?

I was invited today to the testings of Viva’s new 4G Network capabilities, unfortunately I couldn’t make it, but I was told a lot of bloggers were invited to the Viva event along with news reporters. The technology being tested could take up the internet speeds in Kuwait up to incredible new heights, we’re talking 160MBPS+. I personally can’t wait till prices drop further and super fast internet speeds are available to everybody.

Let me first begin with: Yes, there is a problem with the reception. coz thats what everybody asks whenever they see the iPhone with me. But it’s not a big problem, calls don’t get dropped everytime I use it, actually I had a call drop only once, so far.

Anyway, Hamad ordered 2 iPhone Bumper cases for him and me and we just got them yesterday. The case works perfectly.

Pros:
1- solves the reception problem 100%.
2- doesn’t bulk up the phone, actually it is unnoticeable.
3- every button is accessible.

Cons:
Covers the silver line around the iPhone.

All in all I’d say go for Bumper coz it does what it is made for very nicely.
